The topic of this thread is laughable.

That's the first I heard of the Witcher series, are they good games? Does CD Project only have a fantasy setting or does tr company have a Mass Effect equivalent?

As far as the article goes, I hope both games do well; more quality games on the market can only be good for the consumer.

The Witcher is a fantasy game. They currently have no sci-fi but will in a few years.

And depends on your definition of good. The Witcher games have a crafting system. Twitch combat. A political story. Dubious in other areas that I won't get into. But you'd have to see for yourself and judge.

IMO CDProjekt Red should be intimidated by Project Eternity but since I'm not allowed to try to stir up fan wars here...

Well even tho the article is garbage, there is no denying it would benefit us if Bioware took some lessons from CDPR ...

Just recently played and beat TW2 for the first time recently. It's a good game and I'm looking forward to the third one. No idea where this whole 'intimidation' thing comes into play, however. They're two different games by two different companies who both have very talented people working on these projects. Provided they're not released on the same day, the only competition that there could be is for GOTY awards (assuming they're even released in the same year and are both as good as I'm imagining they will be)

I hear people are only allowed to like one game of a genre.

Dragon Age 3: Inquisition Intimidates Atari, CD Projekt RED, and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

"If the reaputation of Bioware is anything to go by, the game will be of the highest quality, this of course (in a Marketing perspective) is considered a threat to many games – particularly games of the same genre such as the upcoming CD Projekt RED Title: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt."

Yea poor article, no one cares.

I'd much rather avoid a second BioWare CDPR fan war this time around.

I very much doubt that avoiding it is going to happen.

I've been mulling over the idea of getting a gaming pc and the writer of this article has already heard from my gaming buddies. They are clearly intimidated by this and fear that their own reaputations and influence will diminish as my shining star status rises. Article forthcoming.

I hear your personal preference completely contradicts the idea that competition will affect business. W8 no no it doesnt.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. How often do you visit the internet?

Not enough apparently.

There are books, which predates the game. And they are all absolutely fantastic. (the story and the game itself is more akin to the Game of Throne style, then some pretty fantasy, so if you can't handle reading up historical books, you better not touch this)

I didn't read the books, and I got TW1 just fine. It isn't necessary.

Seriously doubt it. It's not like there is such a glut of AAA RPGs on the market that people have to choose between them.

Betheshda, CD Project, Obsidian, the guys who made Dragons Dogma, the guys who mad Demon Souls...  Betheshda are already way more successful than Bioware, CD Project are just about there, and the last three are moving up in the world. Bioware in the eyes of many have been going down, not up. Unless you happen to enjoy co-op FPS.

The sales figures of DA2 don't reflect that, especially compared to TW2.

What you say has no relevance to what he said.

And to force relevance, Bethesda doesn't make RPGs. They make sandbox games. Demon Souls, Twitch combat with no character, isn't an RPG.

So we've got Bioware, Obsidian, and CDP. Not a very large field there.

It's funny, I really don't enjoy playing FPS, regardless of their quality, and yet I could play ME3 just fine. Maybe because it's not an FPS?
You know, it's not that hard to type TPS instead of FPS.

You're assuming everybody likes what you like and shares your definition of RPG. Don't do it. They've at least one or two major similarities, expecially after Bioware announced that they want to be a Skyrim

I most definitely am not. I refer to the universal definition of "RPG" as "role-playing game."

But this is a perilous road.

...right... Twitcher 3 is now announced, and it's speculated that it'll be released in mid-2014. EA & Bioware are so scared that they WENT BACK IN TIME to announce their game would come out in late 2013.

Good Lord.

And I just can't get past "reaputation". I now have this image of a looming CDPR beckoning the competition with a skeletal hand and holding a big ominous scythe.

Bioware actually intends to turn everyone at CDP into husks.

That article is so full of speculation and heavily biased to CDProject's favour.

It reads like a "poisonous BSN post". Seriously, what kind of journalist would say "markedly inferior product" on an article comparing two products, without providing a shred of evidence ? And those internal sources ? Highly suspicious.

From what I've seen on twitter people on BW were actually excited about playing Witcher 3.

OF COURSE there are marketing people on EA and BW worrying about it. It is part of their job. I have an MBA in Marketing and I rremember my Competitive Analysis classes. Every "marketeer" has to know how they stack against the other products on the market and has to know how to prepare for "defense" and for "poaching" the market share of other companies. That is just common sense.

Oh good, I was wondering how quickly someone would inanely assert that the existence of TW3 would affect Bioware.

Quick, let's also insist that the fact that TW3 has been formally announced and has screenshots out means that CDPR is inherently superior and TW3 is more dark, gritty and mature than DA:I, and also that Bioware are incompetent hacks.

I don't like Witcher games. Too hetero male for my taste.
