I know that Centurion is going to jet boot up that ledge, I line up a perfect Javelin headshot - boom, and nothing. He then healtgates me in a microsecond. WTF?

Why do they get it? Because BW wants you to at least use up some rockets if you're going to do spawn nuking speed runs.
That doesn't make any sense.

I think it was added to make grenade nuking less viable and/or so that people at least have to wait for a few beats after a spawn appears before nuking it.Air Quotes wrote...

I'll admit, it is a tad weird that they'd bother adding it, especially if we're not even supposed to have eye contact with them when they show up.

Remove it, or give us revive immunity. It's only fair.

Or just 3 seconds of invulnerability to everything including sync kills and stagger after joining a game in progress.
Also, have the enemies ignore players in this state and not prioritize them as targets.

Except enemies don't wait to shoot you. That Rocket Trooper will fire 2 rockets as he spawns - land on the ground - fire 2 more, then go into cover - fire, go out of cover fire. Dodge - fire.

Why do they get in the first place? Enemies cheat like hell, spawn behind you, spawn on top of you and they shoot the instant they spawn. Why are they also completely immune to damage for like 3 seconds?

Had almost the same experience today with a Marauder. On Ghost he spawned right behind me and gave me the elbow of doom and when I turned around my Talon X didn't do any damage from point blank range.

Maybe it's immunity on higher difficulties. I don't use too many grenades classes on Gold yet, so it's possible I haven't noticed the difference.
But I've cleared a spawn point with Lift Grenades on Bronze and Silver quite a few times, and they do take damage in the first couple of seconds, although it is much less than it should be.

Spawn-nuking makes the game a joke, and I say that as an inveterate spawn-nuker.

Just an observation.
On the topic at hand though... to be frank it hasn't bothered me.
Edit: Edited a silly phrase structure. I'm getting tired @-@;

I thought it was high DR for 2 seconds.

The files show that they get DR for 6 seconds from the moment they spawn(Though in a lot of cases they still need to jetpack onto the map), though they don't list the DR amount.
Most likely it's the same across all difficulties or else it would have been with the difficulty specific variables.
and it's certainly not full on damage immunity for Gold.

It's not like spawn nuking isn't already incredibly easy.

LOL. Bloody easy? No. Easier? Sure. A ton more FUN? Definetely.
I mean I can't understand the reasoning of the people who say things like - Banshee magnet hands across the map was a good thing and made the game more challenging. Or that Geth stunlock is a good thing. Or that Phantom DR makes sense.
It's not challenge - it's pure BS.
And guess what - when Banshee magnets got fixed - Reapers became the most fun, balanced faction that people enjoy playing against.
