Hi all - I'm at the point in ME2 where I guess it's forcing me to go thru the Joker mission of helping EDI save the Normandy from the Collectors.  Any place I try to land/dock it goes to that cutscene.  But I haven't yet done all the team loyalty missions, upgrades, etc.

So 2 questions...

1)  CAN I stop this mission from happening already??  I want to get everyone loyal so they survive the suicide mission before I go, but don't want Kelly to be melted into goo by the Collectors!

2) How the he|| do you get Joker up the last set of stairs and into the room with the terminal??  The moment I get control I "run" (as much as Joker can run) immediately up the stairs, make it to the door, the A button (I'm on Xbox) option highlights onscreen, I hit it and I can see the door JUST start to open and he gets nabbed EVERY freaking time!!  Done this about 20 times now and it's REALLY teeing me off.  

Any help is appreciated!!!!

Well, first you must do all missions, Upgrades, Scans,etcetera then go for the Reaper IFF.

You must only get the Reaper IFF when everything is ready.

2) You must wait a little bit after the Collectors pass through the door. See their Shadows.

OK, another question then about doing 1-3 missions *after* the Collectors attack the Normandy.

When 50% of the abducted crew die, which named crew (of Kelly, Ken, Gabby, Dr. Chakwas) live to ME3?

Kelly, Gabby and Mess Sgt Gardner all die, though you only see Kelly being liquidised. If you leave it longer you lose the rest apart from Chakwas, who'll only die if not given an armed escort back to Normandy.

that's annoying, as I wanted to legions loyalty mission, however I need to get the IFF to get Legion.

What do I need to do so that Legion does not die in the suicide mission

You should be able to do Legion's loyalty mission before the Collectors attack, meaning they kidnap the crew right after you get Legion's loyalty.

The collectors attack is triggered 2 missions after you got the IFF, so you activate Legion, make one other (I mostly keep Tali mission) and then got asked to visit Legion and make his mission.
