I had a thought, and maybe this has been talked about before. The warlock isn't very versatile with only 12 total spells. So how about this:

The warlock gains invocations as feats via the extra invocation feats already done. Except they are set to least at least, lesser at lesser, ect. You get a total of 12 invocations- your choice how they come out in the least, lesser, greater, dark tiers. If you want a lesser invocation instead of a dark one, you could.  These spells would not be swappable, however.

At levels 2,5,6,9,11,14,16,18 you would gain access to blast shapes and essences. Meaning you would have 8 shapes/essences and 12 invocations at level 20. The blasts would be the only spells in quick cast.

For the rewrite, extra invocation would be gone for balance. You would still get the feats warlocks get.  It would only affect spell gains.
