Besides, the build will eliminate enemies faster and in greater quantity. Not sure why the need to brush something off because its "unorthodox"

I can respect someone having a different opinion.... I just don't get why dude is being such a ****** about this. It's a Freakin' Batguard build... how does something so insignificant generate such hateful animosity?

i'd say more uptight than hateful. Maybe a bit prudish, too. Ironic, as the build needlessly defened is a Brawler that apparently is solely intended for punching the heads off of enemies

I see no difference between what you're doing and what I'm doing. Lash is pointless in my eyes and that's that. It's clearly not in yours but don't say I'm misinformed because I don't see a need for it.

And I have no idea where your getting "hateful", "uptight" or anything else of the sort from. Your posts sound just like mine to me.

Call it narrow if you like but health and weapon damage are much more important on a melee character than a power that only deals with one enemy and has a long animation with no invincibility frames.

and this is where the misinformed part comes.

My build wasn't a melee character. I don't do the same thing as you do, not sure where you got that.

Its a narrow view because you rule out something without being willing to accept a possible alternative. You seem engrained in your position (digging your heels in), so i'll just leave it at that unless you want to have more dialogue vs. debate from a very personal premise.

i run a pure shields/weapons build with a Piranha X. i just recently re-spec'd him this way. wasn't able to take him on Gold before but i can now with ease.
Charge>Piranha to the face. rinse/repeat. just lol fun

I used to run him without lash but I now find a lot of utility in that power.  Blade armor rank 5 is pointless, you don't need shield recharge for a vanguard and melee returned is bugged and kind of retarded.  I can't speak for anyone else but I try very hard not to get meleed.  The choices at rank six, power speed penalty or 10% DR, are ok but unnecessary.  Do you really need 10% more DR on a vanguard that already has 25% DR and big shields/health?  If you skip those two ranks in BA you can put  4 ranks in lash.  Lash helps in dealing with trash mobs, gives you a detonator and allows you to have a lot of fun hatesurfing.  My new build.
