I'm interested in learning vidding/machinima, and I'm looking for any helpful information on getting started with Mass Effect. I have googled to the moon and back and found very little about the process of getting the raw footage to work with. I assume I need to use fraps or something similar? And there are ways to turn off UI elements? Anything would be super appreciated.
Mass Effect vidding/machinima - any guides, tutorials, tips, etc?

In theory you could remove all of the hud... But I would not do that in the multiplayer section (Risk of getting banned for "exploiting"). For singleplayer you should be alright.
It all depends really. What do you want to do?
Some form of (early) "RedvsBlue" machinima? (Filmed ingame)
Extract the ME3 models, and use them within 3ds max (or other external programs)?
Or do you simply want to record your playthrough of ME3? (In this case just use Fraps and press record
As an example, are you thinking of doing something more in the style of this? (Shameless selfpromotion incoming):
social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/368/index/12862670
But be warned. This is very time consuming. It takes a while to get used to making all of the animations, materials, enviroments and such.
In the end ME3 is not so "Machinima" friendly. You can do it, but it takes time.
Let me know if you want any help, or if you have any more questions.

More like some totally sweet music with some totally sweet ME footage. So just using cutscenes and such.
