You do realise that they didn't actually change her that much, right? She let her hair down and put on a little bit of make up, that's pretty much it.

Hmmm, I must have missed the boob job, plastic surgery and dress armour.

And Bioware blatantly said they did that for 'sex appeal'. I found Ashley appealing before she got dolled up, I found her less so with the changes.

This! Also, boob jobs seem fairly rampant in ME3. Even my femshep had one. What the phack!

Doesn't change the fact that she has large breasts. EDI didn't need this, so why does she have them?

You could ask the same of nearly any attractive character in any video game in existence.

They didn't NEED to be attractive. But they are.

Indeed. I found it off-puting myself.

Also, that armour is default- the one with the skirt, high heels and garters. Ash flat-out states she prefers heavy armour in ME1 but that, like a crapload of other stuff, is ignored for teh sexy.

When does Ash ever say in ME 1 that she prefers heavy armor?

Ugh, yeah I noticed. >:| That's why I liked the N7 hoodie so much (also the fact EDI buys it for you lol) is that the new boobage isn't so blatantly obvious. But it's like how Femshep got cheated out of a leath jacket for a skanky dress she can't even sit in properly.

As with Ash...it's like most gaming companies don't understand some people don't want over-the top beautifiled ladies with big boobs. Hell, my favourite romance options in ME are aliens- Garrus and Tali respectively. Garrus is a really alien looking alien (lol) and I can't even see Tali's face. I pretend that stupid photo of hers doesn't exist though.

FemShep's breasts are pretty much the same as ME2, the difference is in the armour. ME2's female chestplate drapes over the chest, like a t-shirt, while ME3's female chestplate is form-fitting, like a bra.

Miranda, as well as EDI's body, were both designed, so it makes perfect sense that they'd have large breasts. Liara is a very young Asari, so it also makes sense for hers to get bigger throughout the series, as she's still maturing.

The only character that's "sexualized" is Ashley, but even then, not that much.

Miranda and EDI were designed so they'd appeal to people in-universe. Are you saying that it's impossible to be appealling with small breasts?

Liara and Ashley's breasts were enlarged because BioWare asked the fans if they should do so. It was unnecessary and immature to even consider asking such a question.

Not at all! I'm saying larger breasts are generally viewed, by the majority of people (it's hardwired into our brains), as being more appealing, thus if you're designing a person to be sexually appealing, as Miranda's father did, and TIM did with EDI's body, then they'll give them larger breasts.

Are you saying liking breasts is immature, or that liking large breasts is immature? Because both are 100% natural.

There was a slight increase in cup size too.

No, I'm saying that redesigning them as they have is the part that's immature. They must have had doubts about their reception or the design wouldn't have been changed. And doing this solely cosmetic change is targeting the immature audience.

Once again, that's not immaturity.

And all the characters were "redesigned" for ME2, since there were no unique models in ME1. All human males/batarians had the same body, and all human females/asari had the same body. ME2 gave them all the unique designs they always should've had.

She didn't actually put on makeup, either. The in-game graphics just support what she looks like in the trailers.

Seriously, go watch one of the trailers from ME1, she looks exactly like she does in ME3 - minus the hair being down. (well, that and increasing breast size slightly - but I think she was always intended to be bigger but the in game models didn't support it) :?

Yeah, the only real change was her hairstyle, the rest were overcoming previous limitations (everyone had the same body in ME1) or a mere graphical update.

I would like to point out that they didn't actually increase Liara's size, either. She just wears a padded bra with her armor, for some reason. The game uses the exact same generic model for her when she visits your room in the Lair of the shadow broker DLC, and when you talk to her in her office in the game proper.

Back on topic, though - EDI's redesign was a little over the top for me, but it seems more like it was an in-joke because Tricia Helfer did the voice - so they gave her a seductitron body.

I just don't get why EDI didn't have a holographic body in the first place - all the other AI's and VI's we met did. Instead, she was a talking ball with a sideways mouth... or perhaps something a bit more... intimate if you want to go that route.

I object to the design because the over-sexualised appearance is present in all but two of the main female characters. Did it need to be so prevalent? Why do we only have two squad members that have kept a cup size below D?

I think it's 3, actually. Tali, Kasumi, and Jack (hilariously these also happen to be the only female squadmates I really like).

I agree with the general sentiment of your post, though.

I'd argue that Jack's redesign in 3 counts as sexualisation for her. Clearly the new person in charge of her thought she needed to be dolled up a bit.

I'm assuming she would be more approachable if she has bigger breasts and looks "attractive" and therefore, have an easier time understanding humans, lol.

I remember seeing leaked pictures from ME3 art book before game was released and thinking how it looks like I don't belong in intended focus group any more.

I think BW missed fantastic opportunity with EDI, didn't liked direction of writing, didn't liked her body. At best it serves kind of reflection of certain portion of BW's fan base. Just wonder if writers really were that clever, or if it came out that way accidentally.

I wouldn't hate it if it was JUST EDI. But it isn't. There are six or seven characters (the only ones in the setting) that have D cup breasts. They are all in your squad. You know everyone with a large rack on a first name basis. Couple it with the fact that the only female characters that can do anything in this setting have giant boobs and you get a fairly advanced case of 'Amazon fantasies'. That kind of thing just breaks my immersion.
