Exactly.
Riordan = scapegoat.
Third that...it wasn't me!

Anyone asks me I just respond with "That's how I roll, now what?" and leave it at that.
Exactly. No point in beating around the bush with a bunch of sticks in the mud who couldn't even make it to the battle in the first place. I see it going like this:
"How are you and Alistair alive after killing the Archdemon"
"Riordan did it"
"Riordan? We've heard accounts that he died long before the flash of light signalling the death of the dragon"
"Really? Well then I suppose you wouldn't believe that it just happened to be a lucky break? Like getting two Orlaisian women at the same time in the Pearl?"
"No"
"Well then, here's the truth. I met up with a sexy witch from the middle of a swamp long before the final encounter with the Archdemon. I took her along for a little female "companionship," or at the very least to give me something to look at while I was trudging back and forth across Ferelden. Long story short, she ended up telling me about some ritual involving sex and and her carrying my kid so that it can get possessed with the spirit of an old god after I curbstomped that turd of a dragon. I was willing to sleep with her just for the fun of it, but the real kicker was that I wouldn't have to die as long that kid could get infused with the god, or something like that. I didn't really pay attention to the details. But hey, who wouldn't turn down an offer like that though, eh gramps? Sexy time with a crazy witch, and the ability to stay alive after killing that archdemon thingamajig? Like a win win right?
"......."
"That's what I thought. Don't worry about a thing, I've got this whole Grey Warden thing covered once you and rest of the rest home wardens take that trip down to the Darkspawn."

1. Uhh... just lucky I guess?
2. Did a dark ritual thingy with Morrigan to save my life. I'm sure the new Dalai Lama Baby Archdemon won't be an issue.
3. (Persuade) (Lie) Riordan crawled up to the top of the tower and killed it with his dying breath. I'm building him a very nice statue.
4. (Intimidate) Did I tell you you could speak? Well, did I? Do you see this? Do you see this?!?
Rank 4 Coercion FTW.

-No."
There you have it. Simple, smart. Epic win I'd say.

Orlesian Grey Warden? I think not. They can keep their cheese, croissants and floppy hats. Do I make a new Grey Warden from Ferelden? And if so, who is it who joins me? Won't be Alistair - he's too busy being King. Not only that, if I make a new character to play an expansion, won't I be too low a level for the content if it's being designed around a character who's been though the main story in the original?
The problem of someone who killed themselves at the end of DA:O seems, to me, to be a bigger problem than someone who didn't. I really hope they don’t “Lazarus Project” the Grey Warden.

"So tell me, how did you manage to survive the Archedemon?"
1. "(Persuade)(Lie) I don't know...."
2. "(Intimidate) Do not question how cool I am!"
3. "Well... you wouldn't believe me if I told you"
4. "I rather not tell"
5. "Ask Alistair" <-- (If Alistair did the ritual)
"So Alistair, your friend told me that I should ask you about how both of you survived the Archedemon"
Alistair "I am not exactly sure myself. One moment the dragon was standing there, trying to kill us. The next it was laying dead on the ground and both of us where alive!"
"So, you don't know how you survived?"
Alistair "Alright, I had dark sex with a witch from the woods to produce some sort of a god child. She said that we would never have any trouble with the god child, so don't worry about it."
"..... Right, so the dragon was just laying there dead?"
Alistair "Yes! I don't quite get it myself"
Warden "Neither do I"
Edit:
We take the more funny reason, lol.
"So tell me, how did you manage to survive the Archedemon?"
Alistair "Maker's breath! I am alive! I was so sure that I had turned into a ghost, doomed to walk upon Ferelden. Oh wait, you can see me?" <.<

1) If you didn't take the Dark Ritual, there's nothing to explain, is there?
2) if Alistair killed the Archdemon, there's also nothing to explain.
3) If Loghain killed the Archdemon, see above.
4) if you killed the Archdemon... you're dead, and play a different Grey Warden in the expansion (from what I've heard... could easily just be rumors).
So Bioware themselves saying in press release you can use a saved character or roll a new Warden from neighboring Orlay is called a RUMOR now?
Wow, seems like if its not on Wiki you cant convince anyone of anything anymore! Kinda sad really!
Okay... next time maybe you should READ IN FULL what you bold before trying to attack someone online. =/
I said, "From what I've heard", as in, from what I've picked up around the forum by reading bits and pieces of different topics.
I haven't even seen the press release, which is why I didn't post something along the lines of, "From what I read in the press release, you can keep your old Warden or start a new one, but maybe that's just a rumor!"
Seriously, would you say that using online strangers as a reliable source of information is a good idea? Probably not. So based off of what I knew, I said it could be a rumor.
But hey, I guess some people just think that everyone and their dog is sitting together on BioWare's lap, eagerly anticipating the first press release of EVERYTHING!
Kind of sad, really.

The reason they do not is because
if they did then it would be revaled that grey wardens take upon the
taint into themselves, people would not trust them, cause widescale
riots against an imaginary threat thinking the grey wardens were no
better than the darkspawn. Some things must be kept a secret because
people simply would not understand the necessity.
I wasn't implying that the Grey Wardens should go about revealing their secrets to all and sundry. I was implying that it's tragically sad that their Order must go to such lengths, and lose so many, for the sake of vanquishing an evil that others can't.

Since Blights get stronger the longer they go on, and there are only 3 gray wardens available at the start of the battle, I don't think the senior gray wardens would have a problem with your hedging your bets. As a new gray warden you did the best you could to ensure success and end a blight early. Or, you could truthfully tell them that it was Dog. He was tainted, wasn't a soulless darkspawn, and in at least one of my playthroughs was the one who actually put down the archdemon (never mind the propaganda cutscene about me with a sword which was put out by my publicity department). To further strengthen my argument, dog is nowhere to be found in the aftermath. There might be a dog who looks like him at the coronation, but it won't talk to me, so it can't be my faithfull hound.
... THIS.
I hope to god that's a speech option! xD
Grey Wadens: What happened to the Archdemon?
PC: My Dog ATE him.
THE END.

1. We were lucky.
2. Maker be praised!
3. (Persuade) Alistair said something about an apostate witch and a demon baby? Maybe you should ask him.
4. (Persuade) (Lie) Uhh... Riordan did it. And then a demon possessed his corpse and jumped off of Fort Drakon. Yeah, that's it...
5. Even though he didn't like me, I forced the newly crowned king and last Fereldan Warden to sleep with my best friend, Flemeth's daughter, so she could give birth to an old god through blackest magic. I'm pretty sure she'll possess her demon baby later. I did this so I'd be able to survive the battle and abandon the Wardens to travel Ferelden with my lover, an Orlesian spy.

"You WHAT!?"
1. You think I should have tried something else?
2. Well, it seemed like a good idea at the time.
3. (Intimidate) Watch it, shem, or I'll gut you like an arl's rapist son.
