Perhaps its because i have no real say in whether her or Kaidan stay. I mean if you dislike them both, like i do, then there is no real distinction or meaning for any of the choices made surrounding them. Still going to be stuck with one of them for at least 2.5 games.

Not really stuck with them, you can always send them to Hackett. I don't even want to mention the other possibility. :crying:

You are stuck with them, there is no choice about virmire, horizon, the citadel coup. You have to do those things. In a world where any interaction is too much interaction, that is too much Ashley/Kaidan. Also, Ashley doesn't really learn anything whatever outcome, so i usually just shoot her - but not before nuking Kaidan.

Okay, if the dislike goes that deep, I understand. Everyone has their own opinions, I would probably never shoot any of them if I wouldnt like them, I would just send them to Hackett, get rid of them and earn some War asset (I dont even know how much it is, I've never done it)

Thinking about it now, if you really dislike them that much, you wouldnt even visit them in the hospital I guess and therefore not able to talk them down. So you would probably have to shoot them ... I didnt think about that.

Actually i love almost every character in the ME universe except Allers and the catalyst.
So that's why i would like BioWare to include this deleted scene wit Ash in the next dlc or update.
(Yes i asked it before... but it's not ending related so there's still hope)

Hey Shepard I knew we were together but I can't trust you (repeat 10 times).

Would you trust someone who worked for a terrorist organization IRL? I wouldn't.

I'd at least give them a chance to explain.

If Ashley had down that she'd have realized she was completely wrong about everything.

She did give you the chance to explain on Mars.

About eight months late, but yeah, she does.

And isn't satisfied, so I've come to believe she has an allergy to logic.

Reverse the roles. Imagine if Ashley had worked for Cerberus. Do you think Shepard would cast aside all doubt after one conversation?

Be wary of using logic on BSN.  The illogical will persist without logic, leaving you simply more frustrated than you were 5 minutes ago.

I never said anything about casting aside all doubt because of a single conversation, but Ashley doesn't do anything to try and figure out what's going on. She sees Cerberus, and it's almost like a red haze descends on her and she ignores all the details. Kaidan's not much different, but he's more passive by nature, less emotional. I don't dislike either of them, I just think their reactions are out of place and exist solely for the purpose of having a contrarian.

Shepard's reaction cannot be predicted. Shepard does not have a defined character. If she's the player character, yeah, I'm going to ask for some sort of explanation, and examine the situation before passing judegment.

I don't hate any of the characters in the game, even the ones I'm supposed to hate (I like good villians, bring back Harby and make him much scarier and intimidating!). Ashley is one of my favourites.

Maybe some people like to be surrounded by brainwashed boot-lickers like Garrus and Tali who question anything they do unless it goes against their own goals, but I like a bit of variety in the character set. It's BECAUSE Ashley is so much more independent that I like her so much.

But hey, maybe I'm just a rare oddity that doesn't get so butt-hurt when a character disagrees with me. I like them all too much anyway.

I really dislike her look in ME3. In ME1 she was not very pretty, she was a soldier and she looked like one. And that was good.

In ME3, ugh. Dat miniskirt armor. Also the long hair and heavy makeup. Ugh. Stupid fanservice gone wrong.

. She'd fit right in.  She's xenophobic, very pro-human, and isn't afraid to get dirty.  So what's her problem?  The colors?

Not the Cerberus brand of pro-human. They're concerned with human dominance over the other species of the galaxy, Ashley doesn't think like that.

The fact that she doesn't like Cerberus shows she's unwilling to go to their lengths.

1. Yes she is xenophobic. She not necessarily racist, but she is wary of aliens and does not trust them. The definition of xenophobic

2. Yes she does. She has that whole talk about the council and humanity.

3. She never gives that as a reason. In fact she never gives a reason for disliking Cerberus.

I think they are well voice characters, being able to dislike them is kind of a compliment.

I always liked Ashely. As others have said, she has a fairly mature realistic person. I am more a fan of the ME1 bun though. It just seems more professional that the hair down version in ME3.

There are two implicit reasons: ME1 and ME3. ME3 is not relevant in ME2, of course, but ME1 gave plenty of good reasons of why Cerberus might be slightly not cool and is enough for me not to require her to elaborate.

But if Bioware decided to make Cerberus bearable, they should have given us the option to talk it out with Ashley. We should be able to explain it to her just as it was "explained" to us.

But isn't it a bit obvious why Ashley or even Kaidan would dislike Cerberus? Did you play Me1? Maybe because of Cerberus killing Admiral Kahoku or wiping out entire colonies to convert them to husks? Luring a whole marine team into a thresher nest to study their behavior? I mean if you play the side missions in ME1 there are plenty of reaons why they would hate Cerberus

Only briefly skimmed through the thread, but her crazy promotion to being on par with Shepard's rank for doing pretty much nothing always gets to me. Kaidan gets crazy promotions as well, but to me Ashley's stick out more.

A lack of trust does not indicate fear or dislike.

2. Yes she does. She has that whole talk about the council and humanity.

She still doesn't hold the same kind of pro-human beliefs. She doesn't believe humans are inherently better than aliens, or that we should be ruling them.

3. She never gives that as a reason. In fact she never gives a reason for disliking Cerberus.

I never said she gave that as a reason. You said she would fit in with Cerberus because she doesn't mind getting her hands dirty, ie. doing immoral things. The fact that she doesn't like Cerberus indicates she has limits, she has a 'code', and Cerberus are a step beyond.

I think the reason for some of the hate is that Ash stands in complete opposite to their other characters. She is brusque, quick-tempered and aggressive. But like all Bioware characters she has a little twist.

Personally Ashley is one of the more realistic characters of the ME universe. In a universe plagued with suspicion (Turian hierarchy resents humans), backstabbing (the council was quite okay with letting Earth burn) and deceit (Ceberus), Ashley has a rather ordinary reaction to it.

You argue that she is xenophobic, I would argue that having your grandfather's name sullied by alien occupiers would engender such feelings.

You argue that she is a bible thumping nutcase, I would argue that she only mentioned her religion in one case and for the most part seems to have a rather quiet faith.

You would argue that she is constantly mistrusting Shepard. I would argue that anyone would mistrust a former member of an confirmed terrorist organization (and Cerberus is, despite what their supporters would claim).

I would also argue that Ashley is capable of some virtues. She does after all defend the Council from Cerberus attackers. If she doesn't join the Normandy, she heads up the quick response teams in the war effort.

In comparison to the rather saccharine personalities of Liara and Tali, Ashley stands in direct contrast. And that is what may have put some people off.
