I always liked Ashely. As others have said, she has a fairly mature realistic person. I am more a fan of the ME1 bun though. It just seems more professional that the hair down version in ME3.

Hmm you're right about that. Compaired to Liara in me1 and eg. Tali. On the other hand and just imho the religious notes and fascination with poetry detracts from the maturity. :(

But again... It's good with variety in the characters.

i can honestly say i dont hate her, just that i never found her that interesting to begin with and for me ME3 did little to make me feel much towards her. I think in ME1 as well her little rants to me felt a little racist towards other alien races and that was an automatic turn off for me.

Only briefly skimmed through the thread, but her crazy promotion to being on par with Shepard's rank for doing pretty much nothing always gets to me. Kaidan gets crazy promotions as well, but to me Ashley's stick out more.

. She goes from NCO to officer in 6 months.  That DOES NOT happen

Oh, I agree. Especially since she does nothing at all to warrant such a dramatic shift in rank and responsibility.

Then again, arbitrary political decisions.

A lack of trust does not indicate fear or dislike.

She still doesn't hold the same kind of pro-human beliefs. She doesn't believe humans are inherently better than aliens, or that we should be ruling them.

I never said she gave that as a reason. You said she would fit in with Cerberus because she doesn't mind getting her hands dirty, ie. doing immoral things. The fact that she doesn't like Cerberus indicates she has limits, she has a 'code', and Cerberus are a step beyond.

1.  Distrust, combined with her comments implying dislike.  Fear not too much to imagine
2.  Where does TIM or the Cerberus Manifesto ever say that humanity is inherently superior to aliens?
3.  She never says that.

As to her being religious - do people who dislike her for that also dislike Liara and Samara? Or is it suddenly different when God is blue, female and secretly prothean?

. I dislike Liara for other, largely meta, reasons

She works with aliens throughout the first and third games, and her issue with Shepard is an association with a pro-human terrorist group, not with the various aliens on her ship at the time.

Like I said, distust does not indicate fear or dislike.

The Illusive Man says this kind of thing every time you speak to him in ME3. His entire plan revolves around that belief.

3.  She never says that.

I know that. I said that. Read what I posted again. Her actions say that she is not like what you said she is.

I like Ashley. I use her all the time. She is like a mini tank during each mission. Give her the black widow and kills everything in sight.

I don't have enough information to determine whether I find the Asari religion equally silly. No offense meant but just from my point of view.

It depends on whether you use it for a means to self improvement and are able to pick and use the good stuff or whether you just swallow it all up without critical thinking.

I didn't like Samara ( or rather that aspect of her character) because I wasn't entirely convinced she belonged in the first category. Liara on the other hand didn't seem to be too influenced by religion. It was more of a background thing that didn't directly control her actions. Well to me it seemed like she made up her own mind.

I don't like certain things about her, but that doesn't mean I hate her character as a whole, she's aight in my Shepard's eyes.

Ashely was a very enjoyable character in ME1. Loved her "I think my eyeballs dried out." line on Therrum. Capable AND credible soldier rather enjoyable to speak to in game as well.

ME2. Not much here, cameo appearance really but still espoused her convictions firmly. "I'm an alliance soldier, it's in my blood." Same, no frills, personalilty. No nonsense hairstyle perfectly suited for battle conditions. Same (memory fails me here) Phoenix armor in the medium/heavy flavor she prefers.

ME3. Just who is this person? Where is the battle sensible soldier I met in the last two games? Career military do not just change on a whim. Her hairstyle for one, MIGHT be relaxed in an off but as soon as the poo hit the intake impellers, it would have been back up in her bun and all business.

It also does not help her case for likability with the hack job done with her once aboard the Normandy, the less than Zaeed level of 'converstations', the fact she stays in the lounge, her incessant distrust and questioning of Shepard, plus other (inflated) reasons move Ashley into the 'Where is the nude armor for this one' section as that is all she is good for anymore. Looking at but not even bothering to speak to.

BW killed her character.

1.  1.  Yes it does.  Her distrust is born of events that she took no part in.  Her comments imply resentment, especially in conjunction with her distrust.  This isn't rocket science.

2.  Where does he say that humanity should enslave the other races?  He advocates advancing humanity.  He never says anything racist.  Unlike Ashley

3.  Her actions, ****ing about aliens, ****ing about Cerberus.  No real reason for either one.

I had a similar impression with Ashley. She mentions religion once (I think) and I have never heard her invoke her diety like the Asari do.

I might be coloured of the debates. Right now my memories of me1 is quite a bit back and my me2 replay has ground to a halt due to real life issues. :)

Dragon, you really believe it was just because of Mirmancers?

Each romance thread had their share of bad apples.

I disagree. Her updated character model (like all the other updated models) looks better than the original. They let her hair down and gave her some make up. No harm done.

Well, good for you. Ash was my favourite ME character, and I pretty much cringed everytime I saw her in ME3. Posted Image

Funny thing is, the right side is her good side in these pics. Shots from the left almost completely obscure her face. That can't be good for a gunfight...

And I can't believe that blue miniskirt w/thigh high boots is an Alliance uniform. I'd pay good money for an Alternate Appearance Pack that lets her raid Samantha's closet for a real uniform.

She's no more racist than Tali is a fascist.
