Looking back, do you still feel as upset about the ending, or did you come to terms with it?

Still hate it. I know it sounds like hyperbole but it's diminished my enjoyment of gaming as a whole, not just for Mass Effect. Still, nerd rage is a hell of an anaesthetic..

I was horrified while actually playing the ending. I sort of did it on autopilot while desperately hoping id done something wrong and that this wasn't the actual ending.

Then the rage happened. I tried playing again, got to Mars, thought "What's the point?" and didn't pick it up again for nearly a year.

Now I'm replaying it again.

Won't lie I really had to force myself through Earth and Mars. The silly Crucible plot and the horrible set up of Shepard being grounded for no adequately expanded reason coupled with the horrible speech he gives ("We fight or we die - thats the plan! Ugh) makes it, for me, truly painful to play.

But then comes the middle of the game and I had forgotten how much there is to enjoy. There is something fantastic about Tuchunka, everything I have ever done makes a difference and its brilliant. Especially Mordin. Rannoch is also fantastic. Some of the N7 missions I also really enjoyed.

The Coup is still baffling and really rather pointless in the grand scheme of things (though shooting Udina is always fun) and the intro of Kai Leng makes me cringe.

But then Thessia happens. Very bipolar feelings about this one. Half great (especially with Javik) and then of course bloody Leng and the bloody Catalyst conversation with Vendetta.

Long story short. I was horribly confused, very angry now Im at a point where Ive found theres enough in the game to actually play it again and enjoy it. The loss of focus on the Reapers in the middle of the game is actually a blessing for me because it shoves most of the silliness in the plot to one side for 20 hours or so.

I still hate the ending, but I can play ME3 again, and I can certainly now play and thoroughly enjoy 1 and 2 without the feeling of "Whats the point?"

Like it, no worst piece of writing ever.
Can live with it, yes it doesn't deter me of playing the whole trilogy.

It's still a narrative, thematic and logical mess. The emotion I feel is still confusion, so that hasn't changed. I still desire a discussion with the developers over the ending and the game at large.

I'm still not satisfied. But high EMS Destroy is all I can expect.

I'm completely fine with the EC (...). I know that I'm in the minority here, and I'm ok with it.

Don't confuse loudness with numbers. ;)

The endings - outside of Destroy - are still confusing.

Don't pretend Destroy isn't confusing.

This was a joke.

Even if I was totally free - I would never chose any ending other than Destroy. This the the ending the narrative is working towards over the course of all 3 games, and if you find it confusing, you're really beyond saving.

But the other three endings don't get enough credit either, some flaws and plotholes notwithstanding. People complain that they would be disconnected from the story, out of the blue, or whatever, but that's simply not true. Control is closely connected to themes in the Illusive Man narrative, Synthesis is closely connected to the reaper's narrative, their logic. You might find these choices morally wrong, you might say that your Shepard would have never made theses choices (neither would mine), you might claim that they stand against anything you fought for. But that doesn't mean the endings themselves are "bad" - you were just given one last chance to fail, one last chance to buy into the Illusive Man resp. the reapers.

I am not upset by it anymore, but I still don't like the ending and still think that Priority: Earth is one of the most underwhelming missions in Mass Effect. Some things just don't get better with time.

The ending is still a logical and unsatisfying mess, but if I ever get to playing ME3 again I'll most likely pick destroy again or maybe try MEHEM. Having played the game twice already though, I just don't get the same drive I had with ME1 and ME2 to see it through once more.

The ending is still at a "meh" for me, but is only one of ME3's flaws in my eyes. A big flaw to be sure, but not the only one.

I was just wondering, since the boards exploded after the intial release with rage/dissapointment and all that Indoctrination-hooey.
Still I gotta hand it to Bioware, they've managed to create a franchise where the players feel a deep connection between them and their characters. I have never experienced something even close to it in any game/movie or anything

It's a piece of fiction, there's nothing to "come to terms" with. You either liked it or you didn't. No point "coming to terms" with it. It's not like something incredibly jarring happened in your real life.

That isn't your call to make. Perhaps ME is an integral part of some peoples' life, because they spent so much time playing it as a hobby.

I wouldn't say come to terms, but I really can't be bothered anymore. What annoys me though is when people actually think it was good writing. The trilogy was badly planned, the ending seems slapped together in the last 5 minutes, and then they had to create lore, breaking per-established lore to make the ending fit.

I came to terms with the meaning of the breath scene

The endings are still horrible and those responsible should be prevented from making similar mistakes in the future

Never was upset or pissed about it. It's only a game anyway even if one does not like it, not like it's life or death.

I've come to terms with the game being unplayable for me and current state of bioware's marketing policy. I'm willing to give DA3 (or DA:I) a shot if I hear good things from trusted sources, past that though I'm heading for greener pastures.

I'm still upset with the endings.

I've come to terms with my disappointment.

These are two different things.

I've become apathetic towards the ending(s). I don't care anymore and i've not really cared since last summer. I've left it behind me now and hope that it never happen again with any future title i buy from any developer

I think it still sours the experience somewhat for me, partially because, as much as I've actually enjoyed the speculating, all it's done is make me focus on the ending more and more, and how awkwardly it fits with the rest of the series. I think there are some amazingly clever, subtle and ingenious things going on in the ending, allegorically and metaphorically, but the problem with that is, they all tie into some part of the ending not being as it seemed. And if it's even partially not in the "real" world, we can't fully trust it, and it leaves the actual story itself unfinished. Taken on a literal level, though, I just don't find it satisfying - more power to those that do, but for me, the ending's something that's still nagging away at me, something incomplete.

I was absolutely furious inside for almost a year, and finally got the urge to replay the game. I was able to see what was great about the game really come through, so I guess I've accepted it.

Although, EC is still garbage and the endings are still franchise breaking for me. Even though I've accepted the endings, I'm still filled with utter disappointment and sometimes pure hatred.

I still play ME1 and ME2 for fun. I played ME3 twice for the achievements and put it down.

Indication enough.
