If you look under the Hot Gaming headline in this article you will see a listing for a Risk version of Mass Effect being rolled out in fall 2013....... wonder if you can play it on the subway. <Ref>
Not much else is known at the moment about how the setup will be, though it obviously will follow classic Risk the question is how will it incorporate elements from Mass Effect to give the game it's own unique feel outside of teh map and character pieces.

Heavy Risk... Interesting.
I've never actually played risk myself, but I'm mildly curious what they'll do with combining the 2 game styles.

50 bucks?! Screw that!
I like board games, even though my brothers and I are notoriously over-competitive (who knew?) and I like Mass Effect, but I am not gonna pay 50 bucks for that.

Putting the very name of the game into consideration, they must somehow get a "Heavy Risk... But The Priiize..." joke in there. MUST.

50 dollars seems really steep. Like, wow. You could buy ME1 and 2 for that price.
I'll get it, but maybe after a price drop.

I wonder why the Risk was selected as a source of the Mass Effect Boardgame. Don't get me wrong, but how they will improve the Galaxy at War version with an unique style, and characteristic which contain new ideas, and different gameplays ? I'm asked because i don't want to get an another Risk with just a Mass Effect skin, without differencies or gameplay, or styles like it was the Star Trek Catan case, etc.
Besides of the videogames, I always was a huge boardgame fan and based on my experiences it is not hard to find the masterpiaces of the best stategic/cooperative/sci-fi wargame on boardgamegeek, like the Eclipse: New Dawn of the Galaxy which is the no5. of the best boardgames of the world since 2011. Eclipse, for example take a large amount of good/unique gameplay elements from former legendary boardgames, but Finnish guys added a lot of own ideas (from Mass Effect, Star Trek universe) which was able to help to lift up Eclipse to the highest levels...
As a Mass Effect fan, this is the minimum what I expect from Bioware. Unique design, ideas, gameplay changes, a bit complex but enough hard gameplay - not another Risk clone. I hope they will achieve this goal.

Who's making the boardgame anyway? The Risk company? Is Bioware collaborating with them?

I'm disappointed it's Risk. I was hoping they'd go the Bioshock/Gears of War route with an original boardgame design.
I'll still consider it just because.

$60 is a very common price today. A few are upwards of $100 for coffin box games. You're generally getting quality components, and play/playtime vallue can = or exceed any video game. The mid 90's began to take us out of the mass Monopoly/Uno rut thankfully.
