I was fine with Ashley's hair in ME3.

After all women in the military do often have long hair that they tie up in a bun while on duty. Ashley with her hair down on the Citadel I didn't see as a big deal, and you can always have Ashley wear a helmet in combat.

I think Ashley's default outfit was a mistake however. Why is she the only Alliance character in the series to wear that 'uniform?' It would have made much more sense to have her wear Alliance utilities like Traynor when aboard the Normandy.

If Shepard can wear a hoodie and leather jacket/dress, then I don't see why Ashley can't wear something different.

The leather jacket and dress were civilian attire for when they are off duty.

Ashley's clothing is some kind of Alliance uniform, but she's the only one to wear that uniform. It doesn't make sense to have a military uniform that only one person in the organization appears to wear. Also compared to other Alliance uniforms it is over sexualized and less practical.

Bioware would have been better off putting Ashley in either the standard Alliance utilities, or the Alliance dress blue uniform, when aboard the Normandy.

As for the N7 hoody...thats totally optional and not part of the standard game. I think it looks stupid personally, but it is paired with the boots and pants of the utility uniform. So I guess it is intended to be a uniform of some sort. PT (physical training) gear I suppose.

Well the same could be said for James' 'uniform'. They wanted to give Ash a more iconic look as opposed to the generic copy/paste outfit. They should of given Kaidan something different also, but it shows how Bioware doesn't give a damn about him. I hate the hoodie as well, yet everyone and their nanny has their Shepard wearing it.

Vega is just wearing the utility uniform without the uniform blouse. (the shirt of the utility uniform is called a blouse)

Presumably Shepard and Traynor are wearing similar t-shirts underneath.

It actually makes sense considering he's usually working in the armory when you visit him. Often on working parties, weather permitting of course, military personnel do remove the camoflage blouse when engaged in work. If you see military personnel doing maintenance on their weapons at the armory, you'll often see people with their camoflage blouses removed, and like Vega working in t-shirts. Or at least you do in warm weather climates.

Yeah but I doubt that's what Bioware's intentions were when they gave him that... other than "LOOK AT DESE MUSCLES"

Yeah but I doubt that's what Bioware's intentions were when they gave him that.

I am not certain. I did read some opinion on the internets of someone with military family, that Vega behaves like a typical real-life marine. If that's correct, perhaps the person designing him knew what he was doing.

Vega's personality and sense of humor rang true for me, but not for an officer. It would have been better if Bioware made him a junior enlisted man. Basically the Mass Effect equivalent of a Lance Corporal or Private First class. As a junior enlisted man he would have been spot on.

Vega doesn't come across as being the brightest bulb. Not that all or even most enlisted men fit that bill mind you, but officers do have to be college gruduates. Vega never gives the impression that he's an educated man.

I do agree with that.

Vega is a very believable infantry Jr. Officer sort. In that regard he's great to have around. Ashley as a senior enlisted member in ME1? A little off....unless a future chief is some sort of Petty officer.... ME mixes army/naval rankings too much for me to know what's up. Commander Shepardwould be called Captain by the Normandy crew if it was a naval bases ranking. How old is Ash? Mid 20s? Chief sounds out of reach at that age, or at the very least she advanced quickly.

Wait, he was an officer? I never thought of him as anything except a trustworthy grunt, lol.

He's a Lieutenant.

If you take the renegade interrupt when Vega is complaining about running to the Citadel while Earth is being attacked, Shepard will shout, "Stowe it, Lieutentant!"

I can't recall now if his rank is ever mentioned elsewhere.

I don't really mind EDI's or Ashleys new sex appeal (EDI is an infiltration unit), but I did like Ashley's former look, I believe they could have stayed with that, Kaiden really didnt't get that much of a make over.

I had no issues with Ash or EDI. Thought they were fine. The body EDI uses is suppose to mimic a human. Kinda hard to infiltrate if you can't act human. Which Eva does well enough. Plus if EDI didn't take control of the body. Eva's backup cpu/power supply that EDI triggered would have done some damage to Normandy.

Ash I really didn't see the big deal some people had with how she looks. Oh no she is wearing pants and long jacket with her hair down when you first see her. Big deal.

His rank gets mentioned often, also he was only recently promoted.

Something designed for inflitration should stick out less (and I mean that in various senses...) A blend in and be forgettable type would be much, much more sensible.

"Sexy characters" are fine. It's sex in games I have issue with. I actually thought the Allers Romance Scene was the best one of the trilogy.

They let Ashley's hair down and gave her some make up. There were no drastic changes made to her character model. The slight changes that were made include: eyebrows that are a little different, and a lighter complexion.

I preferred EDI when she was just part of the ship, but we have to keep in mind that Dr. Eva's body is an infiltration unit, like a terminator.

I've seen a lot of threads complaining about the EDIs body,or Ashley "Mirandification".Sincerly i don't understand why you should hate them, having a sexy character is always a good think, because characters became more attractive. What do you think?

The only issue I would raise is the Miranda ass cam. Yes ok, nice ass, but one would suspect paragon Shep/femshep would have the decency to talk to her face :o

An infiltration unit can use whatever means necessary to their advantage and that includes sex appeal.

As an older woman, I don't have an issue with 'sexifying' a character per se'....what I do have problems with though is a uniform so tight it makes for a permanent wedgie (ala Miranda), high heels and hair down while their in combat and make up for soldiers like Ash and Miranda...it's a comfort and reasonable realism issue for me....a permanent wedgie would be beyond horrific to deal with and heels and long hair down in combat........as for make up, why would a woman be trowling on the face paint for battle?...

As for EDI....meh....she looks silly but I don't really care, has nil effect on me....I personally liked her better as the ship alone...but that's just me.

I love EDI. She's my favorite squadmate (Beside Kaidan), I don't like Ashley's changes because I feel like she would find the idea of dressing up in military setting to be unprofessional.

I don't personally object to characters that are sexy, in of themselves. It's the intention behind it, especially with ME3, that I have a problem with. I object to characters being deliberately made sexy in order to provide sex appeal, under the premise that such is an important facet of their character that must be reflected. And let's be honest here, it's far more prominent with the female characters. It's patronising.

I mean, hell, what does the concept art book say was the reason for the Ashley redesign? Sex appeal. One of the requirements for EDI's body? That it be sexy. And in contrast, the reason for putting Kaidan in heavier armour? To show that he's seen a lot of action and is ready to fight in the war. This? This is why I have a problem.
