I think what people objected to was over-the-top sexualization of female characters. They objected to the ridiculous camera angles that purposely zoomed in on Miranda's backside during conversations, to the growth of Liara and Ashley's breasts, to Samara wearing armor that is unzipped down to her navel, to EDI's sexbot character model complete with cameltoe.

Exactly.  It's not that hard to grasp.

The whole mindset of improving sex appeal on past characters for the sake of it, bugs the crap out of me.  I'm surprised if they didn't add hair to Jack in ME3, so she would appeal to more people.

I actually liked the addition of hair (the hair she has) on Jack for ME3. I wasn't looking for unicorn hair or something ridiculous like that, but I thought she look awesome.

I don't get it why people whine about Ashley's "boob job". No one whines about femshep.

*compares stomachs* ...I don't get it, was Anderson just being a smartass when he made that comment about Shepard getting soft?

Mind you, I love it too, but again - I don't know Bioware's mindset behind adding hair either than the whole "development" factor, there could also be the issue making her appeal to a wider audience (which it did) - I've seen plenty of people who hated her just for the sake of her look and now love her in ME3, even though, she hasn't changed as a person.

See the conflict?

I think turning up the sex appeal was part of it. Like Liara and Ashley, Jack's breasts also mysteriously grew as the series progressed.

I still prefer her ME2 look, I'd rather her look be based off the orange shirt and black vest design -

Jack still looks great though, so it's not a big deal for me, compared to how I view the change given to Ashley, I don't know how certain fans deal with it, lol.

TBH, her ME3 appearance bugs the hell outta me. It just shouts out compromise to me, from a character who wouldn't do so. One of my favourite lines for her in ME2 is 'F#&ked up or not, the rest of the Galaxy's gotta deal', and I feel that this development to show growth flies in the face of that attitude.

But looking beyond the story to developer motivations, I honestly have to say that I think increasing her fanbase through increased conventional appeal was the goal. To me, it seems as though the people who inherited her development from her ME2 creators felt that she needed 'fixing'.

Personally the only issue I have with it is Bioware's motivation behind it.  Did she get a makeover because she was going to be a squaddy originally? OK, fine. Acceptable.    Did they want to show some sort of more mature look? Didn't turn out that way IMO.   Did they want to soften her up for teh CoD masses?  Mission Accomplished.

Again, none of this bugs me because Bioware could have made her over for a couple different reasons.

Jack ME3's look is pretty comical. She has to tone down her swearing to be more professional, but wouldn't Kahlee have a problem with the fact that her boobs are totally exposed? (since her top is see through)

Anyway, pretty sad to see Bioware dumbing themselves down to ''boobs camel toes strippers lawlz''. Characters don't have to be oversexualized to be attractive, characters are also allowed to exist even if they're not attractive. The fact that this is the reason there were no femturians in the ME series until the DLC is pretty pathetic.
Anyway, if male characters were wandering around half naked with detailed bulges, maybe male gamers would get it. I doubt it though.

I would have no problem with the oversexualization if Kai Leng became Kai Bang!

I wouldn't mind seeing James half-naked. And no I'm not gay.

OP, term "sexy" is a very subjective term.
