Some of the characters it makes sense. Miranda for example, that said the high heels were ridiculous.

EDI and Ashley were made sexy for fan service, flying in the face of prior characterization and logic.

I don't mind sexy characters. When am on a mission I don't give a crap if they're sexy or not. I am more concerned about them being able to help complete the mission.

As far as the robot goes. Throw it out the airlock.

For Ash is because she was established as a no nonsense marine....who then during the promos of ME3 was presented in a rather out of character sexyfied way...

Miranda was, as well as other ME characters, entirely ridiculous in combat with her 6 inch combat heels and NO armor whatsoever (until the appearance pack which made yet bearable to me)

So by you logic a nonsense female marine would never want to look attractive?

no but wearing no armor is entirely OOC for her (she used to  not wear armor in the promos) especially since she laughed at the Asari Commandos for wearing leathers saying she would rather wear heavy armor. The shift was unnecessary and quite insulting if you ask me, Liara, for instance, was handled much better in that department

So or fashion sense is not aloud to change, people do not stay the same and she does still wear heavy armor while in battle.

But she is not performing anything when we see her in skin tight clothes shes on her free time , when you take her on a mission she wears armour just like everyone else when in battle.

She has larger breasts. Given the nature that those don't spontaneously grow, she had a boob job. And that is something that would prohibit performing her duties. Of course, that's only an in-universe explanation. The designers wanted more people to like how she looked, so they gave her larger breasts. Really, would anybody have complained if she just let her hair down and stopped at that?

I don't have a problem with any of the female characters appearing sexy.  I think some people take things too seriously and with video games, like other forms of entertainment, you have let things go.  If I wanted to I could go on ad infinitum about the gross distortions of Black males in games, movies, and books but it's not worth the bother most times.  Just enjoy the games for what they offer and leave the rest where it belongs...on the side.

a marine on duty on the Normandy DOES NOT wear sexy outfits. She should have been in goddamn uniform like every other marine there. Miranda is more acceptable than ash in that department because as of the latest app pack she wears her sexy outfits in the ship (she is not a soldier, she is Cerberus) and full blown Cerberus heavy assault armor in combat.

Miranda makes sense though, even if her heels are borderline impractical. The general feel of the design and crew on the SR2 is civilian, with your squaddies being the only real fighting force on board.

She was introduced sexy, and stayed sexy. Thats fine.

EDI being sexy (as in curvaceous) makes perfect sense since the body she inhabits was originally a Cerberus infiltration robot (and a beautiful woman makes a better spy than an average-looking woman), though I agree the cameltoe thing was stretching things a little. I think the problem with her (as in why most people disliked her) is that the whole "cartoon robotmaid" look and her distorted voice made her pretty unpleasant to have in squad.

Miranda being sexy was also perfectly explained in the game; she was genetically engineered to be perfect.

As for the Ashley remake.. well everyone hated Ashley anyways. Guess Bioware thought they had to do something.

Basically, games, television and even books are always gonna portray heroes and protagonists as idealized compared to ordinary people, so complaining about attractive and sexy characters is pretty futile.

What's worth complaining about though is lack of realism that breaks immersion, such as characters not wearing armor when going off to bloody wars and hostile environments.

I've seen a lot of threads complaining about the EDIs body,or Ashley "Mirandification".Sincerly i don't understand why you should hate them, having a sexy character is always a good think, because characters became more attractive. What do you think?

I don't have problem with that...i wish i would look much more sexier than i am now ;)

The main problem is Bioware thinking that sexy-time is more important than common sense. In what skewed and twisted little world is this ...

considered better looking than this ...

This isn't Jersey Shore. Or, at least I thought it wasn't.

Miranda and Jack are fine, it is part of their character that they look how they look. However, Ashley and EDI weren't necessary. I mean, Ashley was beautiful in ME1, too, it wasn't necessary to change her appearance into a generic female character. As for EDI, I like the character and hate the sexbot ( I don't even find it attractive), I want to have the option to not let her have that body and simply stay the ship.

It hurts even more when you compare them side by side like that. I think I will kill her with a nuke next time - she is better off dying a hero.

Exactly

-badass soldier
-beautiful
-caring, especially for her family
-religious and stands for it
-a bit renegade pro-human without being actually racist
-has the guts to stand up before anyone (even The Shepard), however
-never forgets what her loyalties are

If the Ashley character would have developed as well as Liara, she'd probably be my canon Shepard's LI.

As a rule, I like sexy. But only when I feel it's appropriate.

Examples for "not appropriate":
(1) When characters have sexed-up outfits at the expense of protection in combat or in hostile environments. The worst example is Jack in ME2.
(2) When attention is drawn to the sexiness in a way that's insulting to the character (Miranda and the ass shots in ME2. That was so blatant it wasn't even funny)
(3) When sex is a topic where it's completely ludicrous (between Joker and EDI).

What it comes down to: I expect characters to dress for the occasion.

Those armor complaints could of been easily avoided if Bioware added armor to each character while in combat situations or space, while still keeping it unique (Miranda's DLC armor for example, or Jack with some scarred up graffiti light armor would of been epic), but I guess it wasn't a priority at the time.

Just because she's on the Normandy does not mean she's on duty, if it did it would mean that, she should get court martialed for dereliction of duty when she gets so drunk that she can't stand with the hangover.
Plus she never leaves her quarters, she was not on duty while on the Normandy.

They can be sexy, they can be pretty/handsome... but when they are fighting something, with bullets and big s*** that goes BOOM, they should wear proper armour... not high heels, tattoos, skirts or bare chests. Sometimes I feel like femshep, Tali and MP characters are the only female characters that dress accordingly to the situation. I don’t care if EDI is naked coz she is a robot with hard metal skin, if Miranda was made of metal I wouldn’t mind at all, but she is human and goes ill equipped (my feminist femshep really thinks her female squadmates are ridiculous).

So yeah, there’s nothing wrong with sexy characters... but when almost all the females seem to be ready for a catwalk while male ones dress like soldiers ....well, it’s obvious what kind of people this game targets.
