I like sexy characters. But two points here.

1. Sexiness is subjective. What I might find sexy may not be what you find sexy, and

2. I find girls sexy when it isn't blatantly obvious that that's their only reason to exist in the game. *cough*Miranda*cough*

Example:
Image IPB
I find the girl on the left sexy. One of the reasons is she doesn't have GUYZ I IZ SEXY AND U SHD STARE AT ME! sign painted over her.

Just because she's on the Normandy does not mean she's on duty, if it did it would mean that, she should get court martialed for dereliction of duty when she gets so drunk that she can't stand with the hangover.
Plus she never leaves her quarters, she was not on duty while on the Normandy.

She was still on a military ship, and has to dress accordingly. If the writers hadn't decided to sex her up because reasons, she'd have been wearing the same casuals as Shepard and Kaiden do.

She can wear catsuits on Shore leave and off-duty, while shes on Normandy shes on duty, simple as that.

For Ash is because she was established as a no nonsense marine....who then during the promos of ME3 was presented in a rather out of character sexyfied way...

Miranda was, as well as other ME characters, entirely ridiculous in combat with her 6 inch combat heels and NO armor whatsoever (until the appearance pack which made yet bearable to me)

So by you logic a nonsense female marine would never want to look attractive?

no but wearing no armor is entirely OOC for her (she used to  not wear armor in the promos) especially since she laughed at the Asari Commandos for wearing leathers saying she would rather wear heavy armor. The shift was unnecessary and quite insulting if you ask me, Liara, for instance, was handled much better in that department

So or fashion sense is not aloud to change, people do not stay the same and she does still wear heavy armor while in battle.

a marine on duty on the Normandy DOES NOT wear sexy outfits. She should have been in goddamn uniform like every other marine there. Miranda is more acceptable than ash in that department because as of the latest app pack she wears her sexy outfits in the ship (she is not a soldier, she is Cerberus) and full blown Cerberus heavy assault armor in combat.

Just because she's on the Normandy does not mean she's on duty, if it did it would mean that, she should get court martialed for dereliction of duty when she gets so drunk that she can't stand with the hangover.

Go look at Donnely, Gabby, Adams, James, Steve...all wearing uniforms...Ash? Nope...

As a rule, I like sexy. But only when I feel it's appropriate.

Examples for "not appropriate":
(1) When characters have sexed-up outfits at the expense of protection in combat or in hostile environments. The worst example is Jack in ME2.

Those armor complaints could of been easily avoided if Bioware added armor to each character while in combat situations or space, while still keeping it unique (Miranda's DLC armor for example, or Jack with some scarred up graffiti light armor would of been epic), but I guess it wasn't a priority at the time.

That's one reason why I never shut up about things like this: it's easy to avoid.

Also, I'd like to add that I find a character off-putting if her appearance is like she's carrying a big sign screaming "I AM SEXY! STARE AT MY T&A". All too often, that makes her appear as if she's generally available, and I do not find that attractive. Generally, this happens when characters wear things like skintight catsuits in situations where drawing attention to sex appeal is not socially appropriate. Like, say, on the bridge of a military starship...

This is what instatly made me cold towards Traynor. Her lesbian angle is the only thing that kept me from despising the character, if only because it makes her unavailable for her male commanding officer.

So I assume you believe everyone who doesn't look like Miranda Kerr to be wholly unattractive to the point of depreciation by comparing their looks to other men, just because they're not a supermodel?

She has a very prominent manjaw, in fact "she" reminds me of a young David Bowie. ^_^ Too much testosterone in utero probably.

tbh I was wondering the same thing. The first picture you put up there isn't saying much if you don't know the character. For every Jason Statham there is an Orlando Bloom

And no one stopped to consider the limitations of the PS2 in the blocky polygons in an attempt to make a character that isn't as overly supermodel as Eva was? Really?

In a way, the sexy path in art is the easy lazy way to make it "liked".

I don't mind it as long as it isn't the sole feature of it. If it is in deed the onyl feature then it lazy unless it's meant to be part of the storytelling like a stripper in a strip bar, then it tells us it's a strip bar and it makes sense storywise that we don't get to know the other features beyond that point.

I like sexy characters, but to me characters seem less attractive if their sex-appeal is too much right in your face.

As much as I like Miranda for example, her outfit and the camera angles on it are kinda ridiculous. Similar with Samara or Jack.
I also only tolerate these "uniforms" that are seemingly cut for the assets of a woman. This goes with Tali, Liara and Ashley as well. Ever seen real female soldiers? No one is cutting the kevlar and trousers so that the boobs and butt are properly coming out. This has bugged me since ME1.

I'm a guy so I cannot really view this from the perspective of a female, so my view is entirely from the view of being a male.

I find Tali sexy for her personality, yeah the suit helps a bit but its a character that in truth cannot really be judged for her appearance. I cannot stand Miranda, I don't care if she has the body of a porn star, her personality annoys the living crap out of me.

Point of the matter - There is more to "sexy" than just physical appearance. Looking good is all well and fine, but I don't need a character standing there with a look on their face like "Are you looking at my body yet?" The amount of annoyance would be great...I barely could tolerate ME2 jack because of her outfit pre-loyalty mission, but she was better looking in my opinion in ME3
