Now do the same thing gold Geth solo... and you'll see just how much more visible you are, when cloaked, vs Geth than any other faction - as far as I can tell cloak has very little effect at hiding you from Geth Trooper Rockets or Geth Prime Plasma shots they track you anyway and the Turret and Combat Drone, I'm pretty sure, can see through cloak... and tell everything else where you are. Drones will take a guess at where you are and bomb you, or if you're too close just insta-zap you.

I actually like playing Geth. Of course, I also like playing as an engineer character, which have powers that do better against Geth. Yes, Primes are no fun, and bombers troll pretty hard (especially if they're one of the targets on the 4 target waves, they keep running away and kill a solo attempt on wave 10 because the timer ran out), but every faction has at least 1-2 units that cause teeth gnashing and mumbled/shouted profanity.
So is this really a preference issue? Am I missing something by not having tried them at higher difficulties (mostly Bronze and Silver, because I'm not that great)?
Because Geth are super hard to fight guys.

But lets go ahead and itemize it.
From a technical standpoint there are two types of "stun" attacks, the first which I just call "stun" is the state in which you have movement control of your character but no control over powers, weapons, dodging or sprinting. The second kind is "stagger" this removes full control of your character, staggers also typically ignore stun resistance.
Geth Trooper: Melee attack staggers (not that big of a deal as most trooper melee's do this)
Geth Rocket Trooper: Standard attack stuns and tracks, melee attack staggers. Fire rate often bugs and allows them to fire 2-3 shots rapidly, can also fire while immobilized and often fires at angles that should be impossible with their current facing (i.e. firing out of their back)
Geth Hunter: Standard attack stuns, melee attack staggers, can also fire while immobilized and often fires at angles that should be impossible with their current facing (i.e. firing out of their back). Additionally their cloaking often allows projectiles or attacks to pass through the hunter with no damage taken.
Geth Pyro: Flamethrower damage applies at ranges far longer than the graphic indicates, makes judging a safe distance away from them difficult.
Geth Bomber: Grenade attack staggers, melee shock attack stuns. Often times instant cast powers (such as overload) will have no effect on them.
Geth Prime: Standard attack stuns and tracks, melee attack staggers, drone attack staggers. They can place turrets outside of their line of sight, their melee range is also much larger than the animation suggests and can often stagger melee attackers even after they dodge backwards away from the prime.

A squad of 4 TGI's with chain overload works nicely against them

On Gold, which I now exclusively play, a lot of people pre-select Geth because they're the slowest moving enemy faction. At least that is what I think the reason is. Little do they seem to realize what is in store for them...Aerosmithe wrote...

Ah, yes, the profanity. It's as inevitable as the Geth stunlock.Of course, I also like playing as an engineer character, which have powers that do better against Geth.
I think that there is no faction where so many things can simultaneously fire and stunlock you than the Geth. Geth Rocket Troopers keep firing their rockets at whatever angle pleases them - there's no end to those rockets, I tell you; the bomber can stun you in close range and bomb you out of cover; the Geth Hunter seems to have some random kind of stagger immunity and it has a tendency to magically appear out of nowhere, in packs, too; the silent Pyro and its limitless flame of instant death; and the last but not the least, the Geth Prime and all its pets, the Prime cannon can literally bend around corners and stun you, so can the Drone's incendiary attack, and the Prime usually spawns its Turret at impossible locations.
And I think the ones I've noted above are not the only reasons. The spawn system is more or less broken, in my opinion; I've literally seen Geth Hunters appear out of nowhere at the start of the wave and stunlock and kill my teammates. The Rocket Troopers and Primes have a tendency to instantly fire several rounds, as soon as they spawn. I believe all the Geth plot the player's trajectory of movement, and magically fire seeking-rounds from around corners, from below the ramps or stairways, etc. - they do not respect line of sight. So, you turn a corner, or go down/up a ladder and the missile is already there, hitting your face, which is followed close behind by several more.
Actually, it's the stunlock that kills; you get stunlocked and lose all control of your character, and there are so many things firing simultaneously that death is inevitable.
You should try them on Gold - you don't know what you're missing out on.So is this really a preference issue? Am I missing something by not having tried them at higher difficulties (mostly Bronze and Silver, because I'm not that great)?
All that said, the Geth are still managable on Gold, if one is wary of the things I said above. For example, I don't try to rush a spawn because I know that I'm going to get several rounds into my face as soon as I turn a corner; in fact, as soon as I see a spawn, I duck into hard cover. I try to use hard cover as opposed to soft cover. Overall, I play a bit laid back against them. That is probably a good strategy. I still remember those days when I used to search for a preset enemy - now I go U/U/G exclusively.
I think overall BioWare needs to reduce the reaction time of the Geth units. They also need to make enemy units respect line of sight. And fix the spawn system, among other things.
EDIT: Fixed some typos.

People like to play the game, not watch helplessly as their character flails about, entirely unable to respond.

LOL This was my first thought too. A merciless, never ending wave of pyros and bombers.... with a few hunters thrown in for good measure.

Stunlock is worse on higher difficulties, yes.
Primes pets and bombers can be more deadly than any unit in the game. im damn serious.

Never had a problem with Bombers. Their bombs go in a narrow straight line and are far easier to dodge than Scion bombs.
