Unmitigated Disaster

Anyway, my bro died...got my sister killed in the deep (didn't take Anders/should've listened to mom.) Mom gets murdered by sicko, get backstabbed by Isabela resulting in Viscount getting decapitated (son murdered by Chantry fanatic) with tons of innocents killed and have to kill Arashok (didn't really want to,) help Merrill resulting in having to kill Keeper and entire clan, help Anders who blows up the damn Chantry (wanted to kill him but refrained...think I will next time,) ultimately sided with the mages only to have First Enchanter turn on me, finally got to slay the High Templar b*tch (pretty heavy-handed foreshadowing.) Tried to be peacemaker but basically ended up killing everyone because they'd just attack me outright. Everyone was calling me Champion, but honestly felt like they should call me Ruthless Overlord for as much murdering I had to commit. (Oh, yeah...forgot/failed to recruit Fenris.) I guess "persuasion" was left out of DA2.
Isn't that like the worst possible playthrough? I know some of that can be fixed (and some is just locked in,) but my god did I feel like such a hopeless failure...still thought the story was pretty interesting (and sets backdrop for DA3.) It was fairly obvious early on what was gonna come to fruition between Templars and Circle.
Also, any recommedations on which DLC's are worth playing (or which ones are best?)

Legacy is generally regarded as the best of the three DLCs, as it's a fun dungeon crawl that introduces some interesting backstory to the Hawke family as well as another big revelation about the nature of the darkspawn. It's a stand-alone DLC that can be played any time, including once the game is done, though if you play it during the campaign you'll get some good gold and equipment to use. The worst that can be said about it is that the end boss fight requires A LOT of micro-management.
Mark of the Assassin is another stand-alone DLC like Legacy. Whereas Legacy is fairly dark and serious, MotA is a very light-hearted, comedic story. (There's some tough fights in this one, though.) Generally, the story is well-liked, but opinions are divisive on the companion you must use for this one, an elven assassin named Tallis who's played by Felicia Day. Again, some good equipment out of this one (though not as good as that in Legacy.)
Note: some of the dialogue in both DLCs will change depending on when you play through them. If you play MotA in Act 3, for instance, a lot of people will comment on how you killed (or got rid of) the Arishok.
The Exiled Prince is character DLC that introduces a new party member, a monk/archer named Sebastian. In terms of usefulness, he's about par with Varric in combat (though Varric is the better lock-picker). Over the course of the DLC, you help him gain revenge for his murdered family. Opinons on that DLC basically depend on whether you like Sebastian. I personally think he's a great guy, similar to Leliana in DAO, but some people find him boring or stuck-up.
Note: unlike Legacy or MotA, the Exiled Prince must be played during the main game. That's because it has quests in all three acts of the game. (Also, keep in mind that Sebastian won't join your party until Act 2.)
I liked all three, if you can't tell. I generally put Legacy at the top of the list, with MotA and The Exiled Prince tied for second. (I liked Sebastian more than Tallis, but the story in MotA was more fun.)
I have no comment on the item packs. I didn't use them and I wasn't interested in them.

I thought Spec Ops: The Line was a fair bit more depressing. I had a fair sense of accomplishment by the end of DA2, but I was looking forward to killing the Arishok. So there you go.
