My disappointment with Morrigan is really why I liked DA2's all-bi cast. I immediately liked Merrill, but was worried she was going to be straight-only option. I'm so glad that I got to romance the character I liked, rather than just have one choice or no one.

I really loved Merrill's romance. I think Merrill is the only romance I really prefer to be same sex; all the others I thought worked equally well with same-sex or opposite sex partners.

And to bring this back to M/M, I felt the same way about Zevran. I always prefer romancing him with a male Warden. Of course, the first time I ever romanced him was with a male warden who died at the end of Origins, so I suppose that colors my view of his romance somewhat.

I'm so excited about the next game! I can't wait to see who our companions (and romances) are. Anyone else staring at the forums as if new information will magically appear?

I'm a real fan of same-sex romances and have to admit I prefer the s/s version of ALL the DA2 romances LOL What can I say; I've seen/read/played a million m/f romances in my lifetime. It's just very pleasant and enjoyable to play a s/s romance.

And yeah I'm here everyday lol Mostly in the Cullen thread cause my Cullen girls got it going on!!! They are more up-to-date about the goings on of DA3 than any other thread in the forums. *so proud*

But so far... nothing. At this point if they hadn't actually SAID they were making DA3 I'd doubt that they even are...

I find funny that whenever a M/M thread appears, someone needs to make a straight thread. It has happened before, and the reason this time is purely based on this thread. Nothing against it, but it feels like some guys feel threaten or something. ^_^

Do you think non-companion romance would work? IMO, they didn't work that well in ME3 since both S/S only are of non-companions and were very shallow in comparison with the other companion romances.

I guess I am the same, I suppose. My canon files are always s/s (except for DAO since modded file of Alistair wouldn't be canon). I guess I'm just tired of the same straight white males saving the world. The archetype just becomes tiresome after a while. That is not to say I don't play other romances, but they are usually secondary like with Tali and Isabela.

I think non-companion same-sex romances would be fine; as long as they're not the only same-sex romances in the game.

I loved in Origins (and even a little in The Old Repiblic) that there were flirt options or mini romances with characters other than the companion romances. But I feel that these should be extra, and if there isn't the money or time or interest in making them, then fair enough.

But they should not be replacements for companion romances, and should certainly not be replacements for same-sex companions romances in particular.

My two cents. ^_^

Don't think anyone in this thread will disagree with you xD

Side "romances" or flings, really, are kind of cute and fun. Like Hawke sleeping with Zevran or the Warden sleeping with Isabela.

However ... I do think a companion who IS NOT a party member COULD make an interesting LI. For example, this person could be your healer or scribe or something who stays at the castle and who may occasionally meet you in town. This person, if a LI, could attend the Orlesian Ball with you 8D It would be kind of cute to think of the PC saving the world while his/her little lady or fella is waiting at home for him/her lol

I think they could work, if they were thoughtfully done, not just tacked on.

I was pretty disappointed with the lack of content for Sam and Steve in ME3, and sort of wonder why they were bothered to be added, other than to give us s/s options without riling up the part of the community that felt the lore established every other character besides Liara as straight. <_<

I think for that to work, NPC LIs need to have something special to make them stand out, like a unique cutscene or something to make up for the time the PC can't bring him/her along. 3 cutscenes and a fade-to-black scene doesn't seem like much of a romance to me. All I know about Steve was that he was still griefing about his husband before Shepard helps him move on. I guess one special scene revolving around that compannion would be nice. Something like they get kidnapped and you needed to save that NPC since they can't fight.

The more flirt icons, the better! I loved this in SW:TOR, though I believe all of them were M/F exclusive...would like to see them open for both genders. The NPCs don't even need to respond in the affirmative to both sexes, it would still be awesome to have the option to flirt as you see fit.

They were.

I'd like that, as well. My female characters are constantly trying to seduce women who don't seem to have any idea what's going on.

It is embarassing  and disgusting how much I, the player, love when people in my party or group get kidnapped, especially family members or love interests. It's often one of the only times that my quiet, diplomatic PC's can switch over into bat-out-of-hell mode.

The game was made by a different branch, Bioware Austin. They are just starting out, so I wasn't surprise when they exclude the S/S romance. They took the Mass Effect route to avoid controversy.

I do like flirting outside of the romance, it was pretty funny when Morrigan got mad when you got a kiss from a maiden. It would be nice if there are more flirt options for both genders in the next game.

Wait what? When was this? I've only seen Morrigan complaining about the Warden kissing Alistair.

The two Redcliffe gals. You can ask for a kiss after helping them either finding her brother or solving the issue at the tavern.

How do you want the romance scene to be handled? I use the romance scene instead of sex scene because I want to emphasize that it's not about titillating and more about the narrative and sensual aspect of it.

Let's take a look at our possible options!

Image IPB

This is from the leaked survey, so we can't really take anything for granted. You can use ctrl + mouse wheel to enlarge the picture. We have Beardy Guy, Black-and-Red Guy, Staff Guy and Cullen Guy.

Assuming that Black-and-Red Guy and Black-and-Red Girl aren't the default main characters, what's the thread's opinion about our (possibly) avaliable gentlemen?

I would be lying if I didn't say Cullen was the first thing I notice. He's probably my canon file alongside my male mage. I would interested in the first one as well, We never had a mature man as a LI before. As I said earlier in this thread, I'm sure the dynamic would be different.

Pending further information about their personalities, my preliminary assessment is:

Grey Warden - Talk to me after a shave.

Black-and-Red guy - Jury's out. Can't really see his face.

Staff guy - Doable.

Cullen - Physically attractive, but I'm not going there unless he has a major attitude adjustment.

I also noticed in DA2 all of my Hawkes were gay- my females romanced Merril and Isabela and the males Anders and Fenris. I tried romancing Merril with a guy-Hawke and it just felt really wrong XD

Dhiro- I wouldn't mind romancing some of that, especially the bearded guy.

NPC Romance is OK. As long as his/her character have impress characteristic, a lot of conversation/interact to PC and have impact to in Main Story.

Black and red fella needs to go to a doctor because his chest to waist ratio is frakking unnatural lol

Lol I think that is a weird puffy vest thing. If you look at the female version below, she has it also.

"Cullen's" armor there is pretty awesome looking, and a nice change from the DAO/DA2 templar robe. I hope they put that in.

The top line I have no idea, but I'm pretty sure the second one in is supposed to be Cole?  His character summary was featured in the survey, so one of these pictures allegedly went with it & that's the only one that looks somewhat appropriate.  He has a hood on, too, so it could be hiding his blonde hair.
Doesn't look like a woman to me, anyways, but my picture quality is bad.
