I know.  Just wanted to point out that there's more than one way to be a man.  Nothing wrong with wanting a macho-type for a change, as long as you're not saying that only macho types qualify as men.  ;)

Oh goodness me, no, of course not! :D In fact I'd say the real way to be a man is to say, "Hello world, I'm a man, whether I look it or act it or not... I'M A MAN!!!"

Same for woman, ofc :D

Same reason I like human/elf romances so much too. Zev and Fenris were very mistreated by humans and generally assume the worst in them, I like giving them some love and showing that there's something in humans that can be good and loving and kind. Maybe. Sometimes.

I feel you and actually somewhat feel the same about elves; I somewhat recall someone saying that only an elf should have been able to romance Fenris, but I completely disagreed. I thought it was really special that Fenris could open up to a human, whether man or woman.

I'm curious as to why both royal options in DA series are straight. Alistair and Sebastian. I get that they need to have an heir, but are they themselves are totally straight? I'm hoping for future installment to have at least one gay royal LI. There could potentially be a storyline where he renounce his title and elope with you if he's being forced to choose between the throne and love.

It just seems odd to me that it's gotten to the point that it's not even a question of "if" but a question of "who" and "how many" gay/bi companions we will see in each successive installment. Based on what we've seen so far with the dragon age series it seems bioware is has made it a mandatory rule to include a minimum of at least 2 or more major gay/bi companion characters in each game. I really really really hope that romances are handled differently in DAIII. Making everyone bisexual was just plain lazy and stupid imo. I was fine with how it was done in Origins. I'd like to see something in the way of Kelly Chambers esque romance options who aren't necessarily companions.

Oh noes. Bioware acknowledging that queer people exist and want romances too.

I think my favorite part of the anti-bisexual group is that it's like.. soooo in a world where we can accept magic, dragons, our dog being able to appear out've thin air when summoned, and that Flemeth can turn into a dragon and put a piece of herself with Hawke so she can be brough back to life you're going to draw the believability line at knowing four bisexual people. Mmmmhmmmmmm.

ANYWAYS for M/M romance I'd really like to see at least one LI be not human. I'd love to see Bioware take a stab at a dwarf. I still long for Varrick to let me romance him

If we get M/M romances in DAI I want a big gruff manly-man to romance. Elves are too frail-looking and Anders was a lunatic. Give me some hunky man-meat to romance and I would be a very happy panda.

I think that depends on your definition of 'manly'.  If by manly you mean 'macho' then... yes, you're correct.

Yep, pretty much :D I'm talking Sten, Duncan, Donnic, Riordan ... you know the type ;)

Yep, just looking for more variety :D I loved Alistair/Kaidan/Fenris as LI but I always wanted the option to romance someone like Zaeed! <3

How do you determine manliness though? Macho muscle-bound like Kossith, bearded men like Duncan, messy and stinky (stereotype) like Alistair?

I want one with a hairy chest at least. Everyone is disturbingly  close-shaven and smooth in Dragon Age. Hell, even in ME3 all the guys are hairless like new born mice. Do not want.

And Alistair was too...syrupy for me. I know some people did that but he was made out of too much cotton fluff for me.

I think it has more to do with resources than anything. Everyone has the same body model, and it would take more resource just to add hairs. I personally prefer smooth body, but I guess it's more realistic for men to be a bit hairy, I guess.

Alistair's personality can get a bit too prince-charming, but as David Gaider said, he was designed specifically to appeal to the female fanbase. I think I like a bit drama in the relationship. Even nice guy, Kaidan (Who is my favorite LI), has moments where he gets really angry and suspicious at you. It would be interesting to have alpha male type of LI who expresses his love through actions instead of words like Alistair.

True, but they are just everywhere. And in a place like Dragon Age it's kinda...odd, all the men are so clean shaven.

Yeah, Alistair was too fluffy. He did fill the "say sweet things always" portion. Though as a woman myself I found him a bit too...loveable. He felt more like a teddy bear and unsure about a lot of things, romance and war included. I know he's inexperienced but be a little bit more determinded, if you know what I mean. I like lovey-dovey as much as the next person, by Alistair brought it by the tub-full and it got pretty overbearing.

I haven't romanced Kaidan, since I'm a Garbear kinda gal, but I admit he does lay into you a bit in ME2 and the start of ME3 XD

I guess nice guys finish last do have some truth to it.  . Everything Alistair does just seem too sweet, giving you roses, being a sweet shy virgin, I'm surprise he doesn't ride a white horse.

So far, you describe that you want the LI to be manly in term of appearance, but what about personality?

In order to give everyone equal romance opportunities WITHOUT having everyone bisexual, you'd need

1 straight male love interest, 1 gay male love interest + 1 straight female love interest, 1 lesbian love interest

Which means people would only get one choice

or, you'd need

1 male straight love interest, 1 male gay love interest, 1 male bisexual love interest
1 female straight love interest, 1 female lesbian love interest, 1 female bisexual love interest

Which is 6 romances.

Having 4 bisexual love interests is smarter, more efficient, and would probably give Bioware more time and money to focus on other parts of the game.

This just feels like you're filling a quota. I agree with the person who wanted more non-companion romances, because it would allow to fill that quota without making half your party swing both directions.

Oh that is rather insulting. Gender stereotypes are never a good thing.

I thought Alistair was adorable. For me, personally? No, he's not my type at all. He'd have been perfect for my more worldly (in a sense) Warden though.

So far I've enjoyed all the LIs. I've romanced Zevran, Fenris, and Anders fully, Isabela partially (not quite finished, and am just a bit tired of DA2, having played it 10+ times now), and partially Alistair (got bored partway through with a female Warden, modded my save to played with a male Warden, but Alistair calling him a woman was too distracting lol)

Most of the LIs have been completely unique entities. I have faith BW will create more great LIs :)

Please make a bisexuality discussion thread. This is not a thread for this. :?

It's too late to tell you this, but there is a mod that replace or cut Alistair's pronounce to male warden.
I do like the variety of romance so far. I hope that at some points, we get a m/m royal LI. Both royal options are straight so far. :(

I'd have to wonder with Sebastian's role, he might return in DAI...and if he was to be a companion...

This doesn't seem awfully likely, given how focus testing seems to show a lot of straight men feel emasculated when a "gruff, manly man" is on their team. Alistair was once written like that and he had what seems to be a personality 180 from there to make him less intimidating. Not that I don't want you to have what you want, just saying it doesn't seem likely at this point =\\

Yes, I did like Alistair- he's sweet. It's just that sweetness can get overwhelming at times.
Ugh, don't get me started on Fenris and Anders. Both are fairly demented-Fenris came across as a selfish brat as well as being sullen and bitter. Some people find the "wangsting bad boy" routine attractive. Me, I found it annoying.
And Anders...oh Anders. Poor darling, he was just slowly going insane, which isn't attractive to me.

I wouldn't mind that in personality as well-frankly, I like men who are more resolute, upfront and gruff then ones who are shy and awkward. Also having someone who doesn't have a truma congo line would be alright. A few horrible things I can understand. But going overboard like Zevran Anders or Fenris just isn't appealing to me.

The hell? Now that is just stupid. I didn't see women feeling emasculated (or whatever the hell the female equal is) by Isabela's sexiness or Aveline's strength.
