When you say extended barrel is better than piercing, do you mean the high caliber barrel or high velocity barrel is better than equipping the shredder mod; which barrel/barrels are you referring to?

Any gun that does more than 129 damage per shot / per pellet makes better use of the EB over the piercing mod, if forced to choose.

For instance, a weapon that does 100 points of damage per shot does 75 damage versus armour if you take EB, but the gun does 82.5 damage versus armour if you take shredder mod instead.

The claymore, which does about 200 damage per pellet, would do 182.5 damage versus armour with a shredder mod, or 200 damage with the EB instead.

Obviously, using HVB will always be better as you get the best of both worlds, but back when the game was first released, we didn't have HVB, so sometimes we had to choose between EB and shredder, and for the claymore in most cases the EB gave the most damage versus armour.

Thanks for your post to help clear things up, it was the wording that confused me as there isn't an 'extended barrel' for the shotgun, only a high caliber so I wasn't entirely sure which barrel the OP was referring to....

Claymore is classy. And in classic times, well endowed body builds were a sign for prosperity among other positive things.


The Wraith is a consumerist offshot who got mindboggled by the current beauty obsession. That gun is so light, it's borderline anorexic. Don't support anorexia!!!

I'm actually starting to become interested what our prophet Crimson Vanguard has to say about the Geth Plasma Shotgun, who can match the power of the Claymore at times. Kind of makes you think if the Geth became envious of our power with the Claymore and made a Geth version of the Claymore, in a sense.
