If we deleted the Katana, nothing of value would be lost.

Let me first say that this shotgun is not particularly the worst thing ever to exist, but every other shotgun performs better than such a lackluster weapon. I personally feel sorry that this is the default shotgun.

Second, this shotgun is meant to be a middle ground between the Evscerator and the scimitar, but is needlessly heavier than both, and is lacking in the functionality department.

Third, once you get another shotgun, you shall never use this "thing" again. Unless, you course you like the aesthetic of this shotgun due to its ME1 model.

However, this shotgun performs lacklusterly in comparison to everything else. It's not even a good caster weapon. It's nothing at all. I mean even the avenger, shuriken, and predator can be used for 200% cooldown on a heavily power dependent class. This of course is not so for the katana.

One could reason that it's a light assault shotgun, however even lighter shotguns outperform it.

I think if we gave it a weight buff to eviscerator status, it would be just right.

Just my opinion though, no need to go spreading it around.

To be fair it's still better than the Scimitar.

Are you familiar with the concept of a starter weapon in a RPG?

Smart choke and a HVB say no.

The Scimitar outperforms it two fold. Take it back!

This isn't Disgaea, or Skyrim.

Its a shooter and an RPG.
We cannot let RPG kill the shooter.

At least the other starter weapons still retain some basic use. Not so with the katana.

If you guys want, I can edit this into a official petition to delete the katana.

Ehhh... Scimitar with HVB is the same weight as Wraith without it, has slightly faster firing rate and a bigger clip, but of course you have to be Roxburying them to do worthwhile damage, but it can be fun to use it well and stretch your badassery muscles.

How can that be?  The Scimitar was just buffed a couple weeks ago.

While I applaud your ITAZ? avatar, I cannot agree with you on this point.

Explain the Mantis.

The English common name for any species in the order is "praying mantis" because of the typical "prayer-like" posture with folded fore-limbs, although the acorn "preying mantis" is sometimes used in reference to their predatory habits. In Europe and other regions, the name "praying mantis" refers to only a single species, Mantis religiosa. The closest relatives of mantises are the termites and cockroaches (order Blattodea). They are sometimes confused with phasmids (stick/leaf insects) and other elongated insects such as grasshoppers and crickets.  Posted Image

Of course it sucks.

I find the Eviscerator and Disciple to pretty much cover the light-shotgun niche. I wouldn't miss the Katana or Scimitar at all

Well, it should be at least somewhat usable like the other commons.

Though I do like the Claymore.

Its simple.

Skyrim has a few dozen swords. The swords don't feel different from one another, so there really isn't a point in cross balancing the swords.

There is only one Katana.
One Incisor.
One Vindicator.

Nothing replaces these guns if they get obsoleted.
Sure, you can use a Desciple, or a Claymore.
If you liked the Katana, you are SoL if you do not find a pattern more enjoyable to you.

I mean, Sure, we could add Katana X-II's, but we already have that.

Those warp ammo fours, and assault rifle amps found in specter packs already make ALL of your weapons level up a teir.
There is no need for moving up to specter packs level you up to Tier 2 Squared.....

Its actually all a conspiracy to wait for BW to buff the Katana to godlike status where every single pellet is an image-recognition auto-tracking bullet which insta-kills everything.

*snip*

Think less Skyrim, more FFVII/IX.

While some weapons are clearly better than others, there are a number of mid tier weapons in these games (7 and 9 especially) that have their utility (your Mage Mashers and materia-less weapons come to mind), even if they aren't ohemmgee powerful.
