Are you familiar with the concept of a starter weapon in a RPG?
Are people still calling Mass Effect an RPG?

So, 1st place (me) was using a Javelin IX on an Infiltrator. Second place was using a Katana X on an N7 Slayer Vanguard. 60 point difference on a predetermined map/enemy. And the Katana is useless?
Lol way to put yourself on the spot. You just basically said you're bad and that other guy is superior to you in skill.
And that's besides the fact the guy didn't use the Katana at all... And yes, it is useless. But shouldn't be deleted, it's a starter weapon.

The problem is I can use the avenger, shuriken, and predator as a token firearm.
The mantis is good so we won't go there, illing its niche as a cheap OSOK rifle.
The katana is terrible as it does neither of these functions well. It's a bad weapon and should feel bad.

I really don't see the point of your crusade against the katana. Why do you want to take away the option to use it from those who has no other shotguns? Don't like it don't use it. Why do you want to restrict others?

Does not matter how you call it, it has plenty to grind and people have to start with something.

Why not give everyone a pack with a claymore I in it?

. Yes, need to learn to use weapons and abilities responsibly. Limitations, no limitations newbies would run around, then WE have to revive themOperatingWookie wrote...

The only reason I was able to advance from "newbie" to "capable of using MP to raise my EMS" was because I got a Wraith I in the N7 day freebie pack. My Quarian Infiltrator was the first successful character I ever made.OperatingWookie wrote...

Replace the Scimitar with GPS/GPS/Claymore(if you can handle the last one, considering the heavy weight) and you are rightPyroninja42 wrote...

To be fair it's still better than the Scimitar.
Scimitar + Krogan Shaman = EVERYTHING DYING.

Not to long ago I saw an N7 20, level 20 Battlefield 3 Soldier that had a Harrier 1, so he just skipped over half the weapon tiers on a lucky dice roll.Rokayt wrote...
The biggest flaw with having specter pack items become inherently better is that one could simply buy a single specter pack, and skip a third of the weapons of the game immediately.
If we were to implement a system of tiered loot like that, it would need to be rigidly enforced to preserve game balance.
Like, locking people out of using uncommon/rare weapons until they totally filled out the previous tier.

Not with the Mantis 1 alone, I wasn't. I was lucky to take down a Geth trooper with one shot. I've since eased into it - the N7 Valiant I've since gotten hands on is a huge help.Steelcan wrote...

Explain the Mantis.
The English common name for any species in the order is "praying mantis" because of the typical "prayer-like" posture with folded fore-limbs, although the acorn "preying mantis" is sometimes used in reference to their predatory habits. In Europe and other regions, the name "praying mantis" refers to only a single species, Mantis religiosa. The closest relatives of mantises are the termites and cockroaches (order Blattodea). They are sometimes confused with phasmids (stick/leaf insects) and other elongated insects such as grasshoppers and crickets.
How no one has commented or alluded to what you have done, is a crime against the morals of the internet.
