I posted this in the no-reload thread, and then realised that probably counts as shapeshifting into troll form too.
So I moved it to it's own thread.

Gate70 wrote...... he glugs a regeneration potion, then they return to give him the Gaxx and regeneration rings. He also grabs Alesias regenerating ioun stone.

Regeneration doesn't work like that. Regeneration only stacks if the regen rates are exactly the same, otherwise only the faster rate applies.

A potion of regeneration heals 2 hit points per round for 3 turns.
The ring of gaxx heals 1 hit point every 3 seconds.
A ring of regeneration heals 1 hit point every 6 seconds.
The pearly white ioun stone heals 2 hit points every minute.
The troll form from the cloak of the sewers should match the potion of regeneration.
The axe of the unyielding +3 heals 1 hp/round, the upgraded +5 one heals 3 hp/round.

Have I forgotten any others? Too lazy to dig up vampire & werewolf rates.

Anyway, a round is 6 seconds and 1 turn is 10 rounds, so regen per 60 second turn are as follows:

PoR: 20
RoG: 20
RoR: 10
PWS: 2
Axe3: 10
Axe5: 30

So 2x RoR will stack to match the RoG, but a RoR & RoG will only heal 20 per turn, not 30.

I'm not sure if the RoG will stack with a PoR, but I'm pretty sure a PoR will stack with troll form. If all 3 do stack you could get 60 HP per turn from them. This is still rubbish, most fights are over in under a turn anyway, and 60 hit points is not enough to save you if you're in real trouble. You could drink 10 potions of extra healing in a turn, for 270HP. Regen is nice to keep your people topped up so they never enter a fight while already injured.

I didn't realise that, thanks for clarifying. Those insects are bad news for a low HP character.

I believe TobEx changes this(*) so that regeneration from items is actually cumulative. It's a much more interesting mechanic that way, IMO.

(*) Optional, you have to change a setting IIRC.

Interesting... how does haste factor into it?

Oil of speed then potion of regeneration is a useful approach when playing melee with Sarevok, not sure how it stacks with the rest.

What this forum needs is the ability to display data in the form of a table:
Axe5: 30
PoR: 20
RoG: 20
RoR: 10
Axe3: 10
PWS: 2

The last item looks pathetic by comparison. But it might be useful when travelling between towns when the party is outdoors, you should heal any character totally.

Ya, to me it's generally only useful for mages who are generally last on the list to receive regen items.  It is also good for regen during rest.

Does anyone know the troll rate (i.e., Cloak of the Sewers)?

I took it to be the same as a potion of regeneration, which states that it gives you the regeneration 'of a troll'. Hm, perhaps they worded it differently.
