Don't know a damned thing about Awakening other then it's an expansion that you can import your Orgin's character into. Bioware doesn't seem quite ready to share any of the joys and wonders and disappointments.

I'm sure it's going to be an exactual expansion and worthwhile, whatever the price ends up. But it's nothing like Broken Steel - in BS you are free to continue exploring the original world, where as Awakening is a one-way journey from the original campaign.

There are going to be some new talents and specialities but they have not said how many. I hope they do something for shape shifting to make it actually worthwhile.
