This is a thread to discuss the idea of a trans character being available as a companion character, an npc and a potential romance option. Thus far it seems the only trans characters who exist in the Dragon Age universe are prostitutes used for comic relief. I'm curious to see if Bioware will actually introduce a trans character in Dragon Age 3 that can be taken seriously. Considering the relatively small yet enthusiastic group of s/s supporters I'm surprised this topic isn't brought up more. I  for one would welcome this. I think the player should have this option as well.  I see no reason to not allow male PCs from wearing make up and women's clothing if one feels obligated to do so. It wouldn't be even be the first game to do this. There's Poison from the Final Fight/Street Fighter series and Bridget from Guilty Gear to name a couple.  All opinions are welcomed wether this is something that interests you or not.

One serious transgender character already exists in the DA universe (you'll see soon enough).

As for a companion character, I wouldn't be opposed... so long as the point of the character wasn't just to be transgender. Certainly there are lots of interesting stories that could be done with a character like that. My only concern with including that would be uprooting all the ugliness that would come with it. Not that this is a reason to avoid it, necessarily, but I certainly wouldn't approach the complexity with anything less than trepidation. My faith in humanity only goes so far, after all.

My faith in humanity has not been restored.

Incidentally, I said the DA universe-- not DA3 specifically. There are books and comics, as well.

Seeing as some people evidently can't tell the difference between expressing their opinion civilly (even if it's "I wouldn't want that") and spewing offensive language and hatred, I'm closing the thread. Some bans will be handed out to give people time to think... perhaps about whether buying a "mature" game is something with which they're willing to honestly deal.
