My least favourite class would have to be the Drell Vanguard, he just seems like a gimped Drell Adept to me.

Seriously Legend... I have no problem helping other players learn other kits. I'm still trying to find someone to teach me how to wreck shop with the Phoenixes (especially the Vanguard)... but I haven't met that person yet.

Worst class last I heard was the Drell Vanguard. Extremely flimsy, not particularly weapon-proficient, and does not have a good set of powers to make up for the lack of weapon proficiency.

Human Sentinel's a good caster, sturdier than most casters.
The worst Sentinel IMO is tied between the Batarian and the Vorcha. Neither one has Tech Armor so they might as well be Soldiers or Engineers, and both are in fact not sturdier -- and arguably worse overall -- than their Soldier counterparts.

Worst Soldier is the Human. I want to like it, especially given how great Frag Grenades are, but it's too flimsy to do much and Concussive Shot CONSISTENTLY fails to hit its target. Just explodes next to it in the air, doing nothing.

Vanguard:  Charge>Wraith>Melee>Wraith*>Smash>Melee>Wraith>Charge Again for BE.

It's fun and potent.

Trick: Soft cover during Smash, then sliding out during the animation to clear cover for your heavy melee.  I think you're on Xbox?  If you were on PC I'd say friend me and I'll try to put on a good show with him sometime.

*Try to hide the reload in Smash.

There are some kits you like and others you don't, but all kits are good. You didn't ask the right question.

I understand the purpose of all kits, even if I don't enjoy playing them all.

All kits except for the Drell Vanguard.

Can someone explain its purpose to me? Is there any way to make this kit stand out as something remotely decent? Even in the initial set before Bioware added dozens more characters he was bafflingly awful.

If you want a Vanguard with grenades, choose Asari. If you want a fast Drell, choose Adept. If you want something that can ruin Guardians' days, Phoenixes, the Justicar and the Drell Adept all do it better.

Can't belive people saying slayer and vorcha hunter, slayer is one of the best melee characters in the game, for me the vorcha hunter has to be played really aggressively, wraith, claymore and piranha are great on him. 66644.

What the hell is the trick to using him?
I've tried so many builds and he seems just meh.
It's probably the only class I've never seen played well.

I could say, "You're doing it wrong," but that might be considered "snarky." 
Try him with incendiary ammo, a wraith, phase disruptor specced for efficiency, and max shield regen (use gear and equipment). Shoot, phase disruptor, enjoy explosions.
Also, spend time around a Paladin for cryo explosion madness.

Oh wow.

First, Drellguard is amazing.  Multiple reasons.  First, he's got the highest encumbrance in the game, which allows him to carry heavier weapons than any other Vanguard, and not suffer as big of a penalty to how frequently he can Charge.  He's also got the best Passive tree in the game (along with the other Drell), which allows him to go for either power or weapon synergy in BC.  With weapon synergy, he's probably the best weapons class of the Vanguards.  With power synergy, his clusternades become forces of nature, particularly since you are almost always throwing them at point blank range.  Use a priming ammo (Disruptor or Incendiary), and whole spawns melt.  

Second, HSoldier is the only class in the game to have AdRush, which is a top tier power.  50-70 percent weapon damage, automatic weapon reload, damage resistence and a shield recharge.  He rivals most Infiltrators as a weapons master and rivals tanks for survivability.  With a short duration AR, you get a shield boost and free reload every 7-8 seconds.  This means he can double shot the Claymore consistently, or reload a Typhoon right before the clip ends, maximizing it's ramped up damage.
