I've been checking out the toolset wiki (this one) because obviously, I want to do some modding for Dragon Age. However, after looking through all of the relevant Toolset tutorials, it's come to my attention that they seem to assume that you know how to use the damn thing. If I knew that, why would I need a tutorial?
For example, the Creature tutorial says to make a new creature template (I see File-> New-> Creature, but no creature template...), and then to give it a Hurlock head and body. However, it's conveniently left out HOW to do these things. Then there's the Follower tutorial, which states that it assumes you know how to make a Creature. That'd be all well and good if the Creature tutorial actually told me what to do!

So I dunno, maybe I'm missing something, as people seem to be making a lot of mods, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to get started.

So, please... are there tutorials out there that have been written for newbies, and if so, could you show me where they are? All I want to do is make an NPC... I can't believe how hard it is!

Try starting from this tutorial listing page instead as it is grouped a bit better. The introductory tutorial is particularly useful to refer back to when doing the other tutorials because it has screenshots of where to find the various windows etc that the other tutorials talk about.

If you want a step-by-step tutorial, you'd be best served by video tutorials I would think. The first couple of SilentCid's tutorials cover creating a creature, amongst other things - http://social.biowar...ct/527/#details

The organisation of them is a shambles what with the revised versions and FilePlanet hosting, but this thread should give you the links you want - http://social.biowar...discussion/732/

My advice is to figure out exactly what you want to do first, then go from there.

You want to make something brand new or modify the existing content of the game?

I've no experience prior to the dragon age tool-set when it comes to modding, scripting, level buildning etc.

But i've manage to create my own backgrounds, classes, levels, voiceovers, cutscenes, voiceovers, items etc with the help of SilentCid's tutorials and the wikipedia. So it's not impossible to learn from the wiki and videotutorials. I would do as someone said eariler in this tread, start out with SilentCid's tutorials which you find in the project tab. And give it time, you won't be doing entire campaigns during the first week with the tool-set.
