The "sadness hammer" - did Bioware go overboard, or was it appropriate?

Remeber that conversation Shepard had with Tali at the memorial wall. Nothing in that conversation was about people dieing on thessia.

It's more the fact that they forced Shep to be sad to begin with, it doesn't matter for what reason it was. I wasn't sad after Thessia, at all, didn't feel my Shep should be either.

Just like they force Shepard to be upset in the locker scene during the normandy lock out  in ME1.

It more of the case they know how to use the gunship ageinst Shepard without him/her taking it out. In me2, TIM received many reports about Shepard mission, many of the mission in ME2 had Shepard face gun ships. If TIM gets report about these battles, you would not think he wound read over them and develop counter tactics ageinst Shepard based on said reports?

The harvesters were on the groundusing no tactic in ther attact. the Gunship, with it polit knowing full well how Shepard and take a gunship out kept it's distance and attacked when it was tactily sound.

Tim,after over seeing howShepardfoughtin ME2, just develop  a better counter measure to fight Shepard then random mercs in ME2.

Head canon,Head canon and Head canon.
i was talking about how gameplay work with the narrative, there was no mention of upgrades or prototypes or couter-measures to fight  Shepard,if there was any mention of it i would agree with you.

Gameplay has not worked with narritive since ME1. it's pointless to bring it up now.

But adding stuff that does not exist at all is fine?
Ok ill agree with that since no game have ever done it perfectly, but the contrast betwin the two was not that obvius in the last two games.

He slowed Shepard down with the first ten seconds of this. Seriously, I love that clip. It's so stupid.

Thanks. I really needed to relieve these 10 seconds of nerdrage and agony.

Why Kai Leng? Why dance at all? Why not just attack with the magical homing missiles and defend with the magical biotic bubble from the very beginning? And why is everybody on my squad (including myself) suddenly a retard?

I respect you challenging the negativity of the sadness but I feel you're going about it the wrong way. There is a disconnect between the player and the character that you seem to be avoiding rather vigilantly.

I can't speak for anyone else, but whatever emotion was meant to be conveyed was thrown out the window after reading that silly email from Kai Leng. I imagine that was supposed to raise Shepard's ire and give you a "Oh, payback is going to be mine!" Instead I felt like I was in High School Musical: Bring it on and we were suppose to have a dance off.

What's the standerd protocol agenst  heavy ammouts of missile fire causing structual damage?

Added, Kia Leng's whinny ass wantto fight Shepard face to face.... Not like thisis the fight time you seen him with the bubble.

Actually the dialogue option exists where Shep can sound more optimistic about getting out of the situation so no it's not the same.

Ok I'll give you that...But the player has a clear choice not to be upset about that letter and even ignore it . That letter, no matter how you think about it, does not mean Shepard isonly upsetabout the all of thessia.

He can be optimistic. It does not mean he is not upset. The player is still force to be upset regurdless to how they resolve it. It still is the same thing.

Judging by the cutscene - holding a magic biotic bubble barrier and ordering a strike. If I had the MBBB (magic biotic bubble barrier) I would have just walked towards Shepard and decapitated him before the cutscene ends.

The gunship was out of fire veiw for most of that battle... Unlike all of the gunship Shep fought in ME2 that stayed in the open for most of the fights. And when it did come to veiw, it flared high beam light in your face to make shooting it harder, unlike the gun ships in ME2...

Is that a coincidence?

If the cutscene played out with Kai Leng in the condition he was in at its start, he'd be stationary, screaming in the radio to be heard over the Adas bolts chewing through his shields. The man doesn't even get a chance to move out of place in my playthroughs.

I'm not saying he should not of done it from the start. I'm saying the reason why he did use it clearly because he wanted to fight Shepard. He just used it as a back way door out if he could not win.

I never said that email was proof that Shepard was only upset about Thessia. I stated that no matter what emotion you felt, it was diluted after that email. And no, you cannot ignore that terrible, silly, asinine email. Once read, you cannot simply pretend it didn't happen. Image IPB

But you're not forced in a roleplaying way to be upset about it. I'm not saying you can't critise it.

I love the elegiac tone of the game. So many great stories and "human" moments set against a backdrop of desperation and tragedy in this universe I've grown so attached to. Very few works of fiction have affected me as deeply.

He didn't last much even against my vanguard. On my soldier it was one of the easiest fights in the game. The rest depends on how quickly he is able to trigger his cutscene so that he can benefit from his cutscene god-mode. If he triggers it before you get the chance to shoot you might as well fire dreadnought cannons at him.

Maybe not, but you can't deny it was placed there as a conduit of revenge and no other reason. Instead of "Oh, no he didn't!", I felt like, "Oh, Jesus Christ, they didn't write this." If there was any chance, no matter how minute that Kai Leng could be a badass that could defeat Shepard, that email nipped it in the bud.
