So recently started up another playthough of Dragon Age: Origins, and planning to playthrough all the way to DA2(all dlc content).

While at the character creation screen I was thinking on how theres always a couple hiar and beard choices I preferred over the others. There was also a couple I wouldn't ever think of using. My personal fave is the one I'll refer to as "The Riordan" since they don't have labels.

Anyone else particular about their choice of haristyle? Are there certain  ones you want to see come back, or go away for good?

Bioware has sadly never included the hairstyles I like in RL, so I had to make compromises when creating my characters. In DAO I wanted a short pixie hairstyle for my female Elf warden, though there was none so I went with a shaved head which worked surprisingly well for a rogue-assassin.

For my male warden I chose Allistairs hairstyle, with a mustache-chin curtain-beard combination, though I would have preferred the crew-cut from the warden in the trailer.

I just hope Bioware will include more hairstyles - especially unusual and extreme ones- for the character creator. The Mohawk of the female elven fighter in DA2 (wounded coast ambush) was pretty neat, but it was not available for the player character. Same with Cassandras hairstyle.
Also, for male characters I wish they'd make more medium length hair, the medium length combed back style from ME2 worked pretty well.

I always liked the bethany-like hairstyle.

It allowed my Hawke to look like Bethany while not exactly the same.

I don't always play as a male, but when I do, I choose a beard similar to the one presented on my avatar's face (and by extension - my own). And also with very short hair. Regarding females - I prefer hairstyles that I evaluate as practical for someone who enters combat frequently, so: short hair, short ponytail, bun.

I try to make my main character in each game drastically different, so I don't really have a default one I turn to - and beards in DA look like they're loosely glued to the character's face most of the time, so I avoid those entirely when playing a male character.

In DA:O my main Warden (female Mahariel) rolled that one that looked like Leliana's but with more braids in it, and then in DA2 my main Hawke (male) went with the Zevran look.

Kind of hoping they introduce more, there are only a few I actually liked for both genders in DA:O and DA2...

My favorites in DA:O were The Riordan, The Duncan and that slicked back one with a thin braid. I rather liked The Alistair and The Teagann too though I couldn't really use either on my PCs, they felt like such unique haircuts. The Irving was the only one I couldn't stand, it looked so sloppy and unkempt. The female haircuts were ok (except The Lilly) but also... unmemorable? I only remember The Goldanna and the default female dwarf one well.

In DA:2 I really liked The Bran, The Seamus, and default mHawke's beard. So much that I used a mod to port them back to DA:O. The Default Marian and The Bethany were a thing of beauty. The Merrill... not so much.

I'm open to all new options if that's what the team has in mind, but I guess we'll be seeing at least a few of the old ones back depending on which recurring characters we get.

I actually never created a bearded character now that I think of it...

But for the next DA, I want these beards (and headgear) :o

I never used the beards just the stubble in DA2. While I liked some of the DA2 beards I couldn't bring myself to use them because of the beard/cheek clipping issue.

The beard ends and you there was this big hole between where the beard and cheek should meet.
DAO had this problem but it had a work around.

From Origins I liked "the plain Leliana" (the short hair no braid), "the messy Leliana" (short hair with Flemeth effect), "the up bun" and "the Anora." In DA2 I used a mod to get "the Hawke" which was by far my favorite, but I also liked **Wulfram's ponytail** (for which he submit an image) and "the Cassandra."

I look forward to see what sort of texture they use for the hairs in the new engine.

I hated the default cheeks and jaw you were forced to use in DAO (though the forced one was a lot better in DA2) it was the lips that bugged me mostly. Anyway, I like the Alisthair, and the shoulder lingth curtains with bangs for men. I think for the women, I went with the shoulder length bob.

Favorite for men was braid and stubble goatee.  I would have gone with a full goatee if not for the horrible things it did to my character's jaw and mouth...

Favorite female hair would be one of three: Bethany's Hair, Leandra's Hair, and the hair of Gennis, the mercenary leader from the quest where you "rescue" the vicount's son.

For some reaon I tend to prefer black hair for my PCs, even though I have light brown IRL....

A thread of this topic would be remiss without linking to the awesomesauce epic "Support Mustaches for DA3" thread.

The hair in my icon. The beard however....can we PLEASE get a FULL EFFIN BEARD that is neatly trimmed? Like, oh, half the size of that one? The only short beard in DA:O was some scraggly birds nest looking mess that epitomized a soup strainer. If I wanted my character to look like that, I'd simply import my own photograph.

I prefer ponytails/buns in general, they don't tend to interfere in cutscenes and they're also practical from a storytelling perspective, while still looking feminine. Don't like the long flowy hairstyles as they are not that flowy, are often clippy in certain scenes/outfits, and are frequently unflattering. I grew very attached to the hair in my profile pic which is actually a mod combining Tallis' hair with the standard ponytail hairline. I also liked Morrigan's (especially the bangs, which are used in many mods). As for men's hair always like Alistair's and Cullen's for short styles and the Awakening Anders/Duncan ponytail and the Bann Teagan.

I don't suppose you recall the name of the mod? I've looked at many DA2 hair mods and never was pleased with any of them.

Nevermind, I found it.

My favorite Origins hairstlyes- For females, I like the Leliana hair, the non-braided bob (with and without bangs), and the bun. If I play an elf, I feel the need to keep her ears uncovered. I never played a male Warden, but I always liked the short curly hair like Cullen has. Alistair's hair is nice too.

For DA2 I love the default FemHawke hair. I don't like any other style quite as much.

Bioware has always been good about including my favorite type of facial hair, the Honest Abe chinstrap. It is a piece of facial hair of great distinction, and is worn by the most sophisticated and trustworthy beard wielders of this, or any, world.

I thought of the most interesting man commercials when I read this.

Default!Male Hawke's beard was lush. I could just roll around in it.The other beards were too long for my tastes, though I always equip my guy characters with stubble.

As for hair, I like Default!Male Hawke's hair, Alistair's hair, the Duncan hair, Default!Female Hawke's hair, Morrigan's hair, Merrill's hair, Leandra's hair, the long wavy hair and that bowlcut thing.
