Back after a long hiatus - questions about characters/weapons

I picked up where I left off with one of my favorite classes: The Human Adept. He wasn't popular on this board, but I always liked him for some reason, especially since I felt like the only person who knew how to play him, and sadly it seems they nerfed singularity, making it slower to recharge which essentially makes him not able to react with biotic combos as quickly as he used to. They also got rid of the Singularity evolution 6 that let the singularity field expand, catching more enemies, but left in the other evolution which was always regarded as useless. Basically this leads me to some questions about balancing.
I didn't want to just read the mp balance changes thread because minute changes in numbers won't tell me as much as I can learn from talking to you folks. So I wanted to know:
1. What are some drastic changes in classes since Earth was released? Are some old favorites no longer useful? I don't have any of the newest characters yet, and am interested in hearing about them too.
2. Same thing but for weapons. Last I checked, Typhoon was godly, Piranaha was godly, Krysae was getting the nerf axe something fierce, and Reegar was omnipotent with a Kroguard. Are SMGs and regular ARs useful yet? What are some new weapons to be on the lookout for? Is the good ol' Carny still good?
3. I saw new packs that say they lean towards netting you characters or weapons. What are the odds of me getting the newest characters on average? I've unlocked most of the old dlc content besides Earth, which I don't even have the Vanguard yet. I noticed they didn't say they give a higher chance for URs, so I assume Premium Spectre packs are still the way to go for those (not that many URs are all that great)
4. What are the cool guy doesn't afraid of anything h8rs gonna h8 weapons that I should be using like a boss?
5. Any other general things I should be aware of since July when I left? I noticed players have banners on their name in the lobby that say like "Volus Adept" with a picture now, whats that about?
Thanks in advance!

2. Typhoon and Piranha got the axe, they've been trying to buff some life back into the Krysae, but it's still a flop. The Reegar is still a potent combo with the Kroguard. Hurricane and Collector SMGs are the only ones worth mentioning, although the Locust did get a headshot multiplier, so it's pretty good against mooks. The Carnifex is decent, but the Arc Pistol is leagues better. The Eagle has been buffed. The N7 Valkyrie (AR Promotional) has taken it's place, however. If you can, nab the Acolyte, Collector Sniper Rifle, and Raider Shotgun.

The Turian Ghost Infiltrator is amazing; Stim packs for survivability, Overload for defenses, and his Tactical Cloak augments Assault Rifles instead of Sniper Rifles. The Cerberus Harrier (the most popular AR now) is godly in his hands. Add that to his long distance jet-pack dodge, and you'll rarely die with him.
The Geth Infiltrator is and has always been one of those EZ-mode kits. With the massive buff to single shot sniper rifles like the Javelin, Widow, and Black Widow (not single shot, but bear with me).
Kroguard is still "lolgeth".
The Asari Valkyrie, Asari Huntress, Geth Trooper, Drell Assassin, and if supports your thing, Volus kits (sans the Mercenary Sentinel) are worth mentioning as well.

BE got needed in radius.
Typhoon got needed but is still useful. Krysea got nerfed to forgotten land. Piranha got nerfed in terms if magazine size but otherwise left untouched. Reegar is still the way it was.
Infiltrator still rules in terms of DPS. AR and SMG are in the same state as you left it.
Carnifex got a weigten gain, Paladin is superior now everything considered if you got it on a high level.

Fire/Cryo Explosions don't need to kill enemies to detonate anymore.

You can't farm FBWGG or FBGCP, so people have moved on to Rio Reapers Aka box of shame.

Along with Retaliation came Hazard variations of the original 6 maps and the infamous Collectors. They are not to be trifled with. Between the possession mechanic (every enemy can be possessed, and when possessed, gains new abilities and barriers) and stronger units, they are arguably the hardest of the four factions. From what I've read on the BW Blog, they were designed to be the "Jack of all Trades" faction (Geth are supposed to be Ranged, Cerberus Tactical, and the Reapers were designed to be the Zerg Rush faction. More on why this is not so in a sec).
The Praetorian and Scion are the boss units, and both are what make this faction deadly. The Scion's cannon does massive damage, destroying the shields of ANY build on ANY difficulty with one shot, delays shield regeneration, and staggers anything that isn't a Krogan or Batarian. He fires in bursts of 3, so if you're in the open you're dead. When Possessed he fires in bursts of 4, with the first shot being a volly of cluster grenades, followed by the standard 3. The Praetorian is like a silent Banshee/Phantom with the durability of an Atlas and the ranged capabillity of a Geth Prime. Special mention goes to the abomination for...well, you'll find out later.
Anyway, the Geth and Cerberus each recieved one new unit with Retaliation. The Geth got the Geth Bomber drone, replete with a bombing run attack and a short range stun taser. Cerberus got the Dragoon; pretty much an enemy Phoenix unit that doesn't take cover (ever), with armor and really fast walking speed. They have no cooldown on their smash attacks and can switch between their Lash moves and ranged attack without delay. You'll learn to hate them both.

There was a leak on Reddit that mentioned new kits for the Krogan, Humans, Salarians (the only alien race not graced with new kits in Retaliation, which introduced 16 new kits), and Volus. New maps, hazard variations of the Earth DLC maps, and weapons from SP DLC packs have been mentioned. New gameplay modes have also been rumoured, but like everything else in this Reddit leak, take it with a grain of salt. Especially since the original individual who outed all of the previous DLC reliably, OneTrueShot, has been asked to remaiin silent on the matter. We'll know for certain on a Thursday, as that's when MP DLC is normally formally announced with a trailer and the actual DLC being available for download the following Tuesday.
As far as BSN goes, Female kits for existing races (especially Turians, since Omega's Turian Biotic Nyreen provided two models BW could alter for MP kits and a good way to introduce a Turian Adept) and Prothean/Enthralled Collector kits are all the rage. Nothing else noteworthy to bring up regarding BSN, tbh.

Collectors are a whole bunch of camper killers, if you like holding out in one area with a sniper and sitting in one spot and NEVER moving you will hate these guys. Your best defense is your mobility, once a P Scion launches its nades at you once, he will target you over and over without moving. So in short they camp better than you ever could so don't try it.

Singularity got TREMENDOUSLY buffed
Also, Vanguard Glitch was fixed
Also, Cryo and Fire explosions can be detonated like Biotic explosions.
We have a lot a lot of more things
Also, the image of what you asked is a banner, you get a banner when you complete certain challenges.
Also the manifest now was changed for "N7HQ" you can check almost all the things a player have done there.

4. I'm guessing you meant borderline OP kits;

I never, ever agreed with this. The GI is a very powerful kit, but only if you're a good player. Three shots from just about anything will take him down. "Easy mode" implies a noob kit, and good luck staying on your feet if your'e a noob.

Geth Bomber: BioWare's answer to Geth stunlock by adding even more stunlock.
AND the Prime drones, the new king of stagger.
So really their answer to complaints about stun lock was to add two more things that stun or stagger.
