Ok, my last playthrough I sided with the elves and I actually only used one army in the Final Battle (mages to kill the Archdemon). I've been thinking of siding with the werewolves this time and was curious as to whether or not I can still buy the endless amount of elfroot if I side with werewolves (I don't know what siding with werewolves entails).

No, when you side with the Werewolves you will lose that supply of elfroot. You may wish to buy a ton of it if you intend to side against the Elves.

No you cant buy the endless elfroot. But siding with the werewolves is really cool with a great cutscene. Plus you get an added conversation within redcliffe castle between the werewolves and the redcliffe soldiers pertaining to their relations. If you want endless supplies of items like that I suggest this mod. AIS emporium

Or you can side with neither, break the curse, and still get the elfroot.

I had to actually deliberately avoid that one when I wanted to "side" with someone, it was the only thing that came out from my logical conversation options.

Yep. In fact, i get so sick of all the others being A or B, X or Y, that i take that way anyway. Just 'cause.

Siding the the Werewolves has got to be the way to go if you are not playing an elf given the reception you get. Even a city elf might have reason to go that way.

But then they are werewolves no more. So then you sided with the elves.

Nope. As far as i can tell, the werewolves are alive - they're just not werewolves anymore. And i didn't kill the elves either. Should be a separate achievement.

In fact, since i broke the curse - which they and the lady wanted, but Zathrian didn't - i actually sided with the werewolves.:P

as i saw it:
elf side:
-elves want to kill all werewolves
werewolf side:
-Lady of the forest who is basically the werewolf leader want the curse broken, as do most of the werewolves somewhat.
-the shorttempered second-in-command (who was pretty cool) thought the elves would never agree and suggested just killing them.

i was kind of siding with the werewolves, but thought we should try their leaders idea first, before killing anyone

That

it really bothered me that the game called me a poacher. I went researching if i did something wrong, if the game glitched, if the game now registered as if i had killed the werewolves

It's not a glitch, that's how they set it up - it's just stupid, illogical, and totally wrong.

I went to ask help from elves based on treaties, they tell me they cant help because of werewolves problem, I go to woods to find out what can be done about it, I find the Lady who tells me its more complicated matter and it could be solved satisfactorily for both sides.

What do I do? I say "I got better idea - kill all the elves" out of the blue - since THAT is the only way to "side" with werewolves.

I fail to see any logic in chosing or even getting that option.

I'm going to make an elf-hating racist character at some point so that I can take that option and have werewolves with me in the final battle. It really makes no sense for a sane character to come up with that.

it counts as siding with the elves because they are the ones that join your army

As a Dalish elf, seeing that Zathrian is one Archdemon short of a Blight himself, I could find it to side with the werewolves, and kill the elves.  Killing him won't absolve my concern about the next Keeper, learning from his example, wouldn't try the same thing.  Everyone in the camp admired him, and you know, that guilt by association thing.  In my Dalish elf's eyes, if he truly wanted revenge, he should have confronted them directly, instead of resorting to blood magic.

It can make sense for your Dalish elf, it can make sense for racist elf-hater; though I see no sense in them even trying to recruit those elves they hate so much, and even less trying to help them with werewolves problem.

But it makes 0 sense for my mage that just wants to get her army asap and couldnt really care less about some local issues. I was like "wtf it this now" when the option popped at me in dialogue.

Getting Zathrien to end the curse was the best option for me, regardless of who I wanted to side with. The werewolves really were suffering and wanted to end the curse, and were being unfairly punished for crimes comitted by people long dead. So recruiting the werewolves mean locking them into an eternal curse that they would never be free from. Regardless of how I felt about the Dalish, I felt the curse needed to end, period.

Plus, the Dalish kick ass as an army during the endgame.

I've got a save running where I killed the elves. I'm going to see how much better an army the werewolves are when I finish it.

I think the elven archers are a big help against the archdemon, mages too, because of their ranged attacks. The melee armies do better in the city. Imo, ofc.

Yes. But that will cost you money. You'll be buying it twice (and selling at a loss in between). Just buy it, then store it.

I don't like how doing what the werewolves want (breaking the curse) is considered as siding with the elves. The elves want them dead. The wolves just want an end to their curse. If I recall, you have to pass a persuade check to even suggest killing the elves. And Swiftrunner even says he does not agree with that course, if you fail the check. Just doesn't make sense to me.
