So I recently downloaded and am playing Omega DLC. I want to try out flare afterwards, but I'm concerned about the cooldown. So I'm wondering if anyone has any advice for an adept class.
If you want a little more information on my current playthrough, I'm playing on Insanity, and have relied on my bonus power Energy Drain. The purpose I use it is to give me an advantage against sheilded characters, and to act as an emergency shield booster. I have also relied on the incredibly fast recharge abilities of my biotics (I'm level 60).
I'm willing to change to flare if I can find a way to work with it.
Flare cool down question...

Base cooldown on Shepard is 20 seconds. If you get some recharge bonuses from passive, Power Reharage Speed from weapon weight, and intel bonuses and armor, you can make it fairly manageable. It will still be more of a niche power IMO since you can combo Singularity or Warp into Throw faster, especially with a squad member. But if there is a clump of enemies, maybe mix in a Flare.
Personally I think it is probably best on someone like an Infiltrator or Soldier that can just sidestep the cooldown with Tactical Cloak or Adrenaline Rush.
I currently have a Flare Sentinel that I am playing and early game it was just a lot more practical to spam Throw than it was to basically ever use Flare. YMMV.
