Me too! I love writting, and I've been inspiried so much! I will write all day, all night, and drives myhubby up the wal. But the practice I've been doing with my fan fics (seeing as I can't publish them, thats what makes them great for practice.) its been helping me with vocabulary, setting placement, description (although I suck at physical description still, which I am working on with my other FF that I wont release until I am happy with it.).
All these things. And yes, its an Ali/F!PC romance. Sorry, it was my first play through
This! That is exactly why I started writing again. FanFic is my training tool
As to your Ali/F!PC romance, I think a lot of people have at least one of those stories. I know the big one I've been writing has him in it but it's set post game.

Thats why my other fanfic is slow going and tedious. I can only do so late at night when kids and hubby are asleep

Has anyone considered just sharing little things they do while writing? Like for me listening to music works. It doesn't matter how weird it seems =)
At work I find that I'm most productive listening to techno. Loud techno. On headphones, thus shutting everything out.
What happens then is that I tend to get caught up in my work, and then someone comes into the office to talk to me (or with a baby or something--long story) and they go "Hi!" and I jump and shriek.

I've been listening to a lot of melodic synthpop like De/Vision when I've been writing lately. Puts me in the angsty mood or something. When I need to write something happier or funnier, I bust out with the techno/synth poppy dance beats.
I also seem to be drinking a lot of wine too

I drink coffee or tea and have M&M's nearby to calm the nerves. Sometimes I have the tv on it just depends if anything is worth watching. If I really want to amp up the mood it's time for the good ol rum and coke combo.

How do you manage to write and listen to music at the same time? Every time I've tried it I couldn't even get a word written down.
It's just always been something I've needed to get the inspiration going. I think it has to do with the feelings that certain songs may evoke.

HAHA! Sheryl, you're a woman after my own heart. I also listen to trance/techno/edm when writing, mainly because most of it doesn'thave words to distract me from writing
my husband tends to forget I do this and will be standing in the doorway talking for 5 minutes before I relaize he's there.

So this what the average day the developer Sheryl Chee would be like, albeit female (the german makes it awesome)?

Shockingly, CULLEN, that one dude from the Mage origin who goes insane later on is as popular as one of the love interests and more popular than any of the regular companions.
I know right! I'm totally shocked by this too. If I'd known how popular he'd be, I would've written in some kind of closure for him and the femMagePC. Sorry, guys. I should've known, I guess. It seems the fangirls will set their sights on any male character who looks vaguely humanoid (see: Thane). Ah... hindsight. Anyway I'll know for next time, I guess?
I know you probably didn't mean it as such, but this is rather condescending and a more than a little insulting. The way Cullen is written makes him seem just a sweet guy who is hoplessly in love with your character. We'd have to have been mindreaders to know that he's some weird version of Edward Cullen but with more stalkerish tendencies. We're introduced to a guy that basically is just shy and stutters around you. That is endearing, perhaps if you said something like "I'll enjoy twisting my knife into you and pretending it's my p33n . You have such a purty mouf *drool drool*" we might have been a little clearer.
As for me, I never got the Cullen Goes Crazy ending, nor the Cullen Smash Mage (as knight commander). I'm guessing that was a bug because I did get it the second time I played a mage, either that or I choose a different chat pathway at the Circle.
I never once thought he was over the top after you kill Uldred, I mean considering what he went through up there, I think i'd be a little loopy just after that as well. The only thing he ever says again is "I wish I could have gone with him"
So intimating that we're silly girls that latch onto anything that smiles at us is a little harsh, imo. I'm not silly fangirl. I hated Twilight and everything that E.C. depicted in it, but I would never have put the two and two together.
For me, Cullen was the kinda geeky guy that had a crush on me in 11th grade. He watched me a lot, but he was just a shy guy who wasn't going to approach a cheerleader. I didn't think he was a stalker for watching me or whatever during class. And if you mention age differences to counter the argument, well, these are very cloistered characters, and my character is what.. about 20? His is about maybe 25? Neither with relationship experience.
Wow, got that off my chest.
PS: since things always get translated wrong on here I'm going to just say this post is not written while I pound my keyboard going "WTF AMG RAWR" ... just more of a "hruh?". I really don't think you mean to insult us at all, but I'm just giving you a heads up that some of us are, in fact, insulted.
PPS: Cullen is redeemable! I saveded him! Don't worry fangirls! He's okay! Everything is okay! All at once : *collective sigh of relief*

Hubby and I also do post wars or some verbal RP. In fact, we met eons ago in the ancient AOL RP rooms... I think I'm showing my age by mentioning the Red Dragon Inne. LOL He definitely helps whenever I get stuck. And now, the Boy Child is helping too -- however, he is completely stuck in a hero-worshipping phase with Alistair, so he's not terribly objective. But, that's a seven year old boy for you.

There is a woman who works in an office on billing issues. At the end of the year, it is her job to bill everything that she can -- which makes her very unpopular with people throughout the company, but oh well. Once she has hunted each supervisor down like a pig-dog and gotten all of the paperwork they have hoarded, she returns to her desk and puts up a sign. "Do not disturb unless there is arterial blood." At that point, she plugs into her iPod or her Pandora station and begins the tedious process of catcbhing up all the billing issues.
This past December, in a race to get the company into the black and everything looking good for the coming year, she was under intense stress. This meant that her sign was up, her music was loud, and she was blatantly ignoring everyone who walked by. If they needed office supplies that she had locked up, they were out of luck. Until one day...
A hand clamped down on her shoulder and she screamed. Whirling around in her chair, she discovered something horrifying... Her whirly chair was not very stable and the chair part separated from the base, throwing the woman to the floor. As she fell, her headphones unplugged from the USB port and music streamed form the computer speakers -- Reel Big Fish yelling "I hate you, ***** you, leave me alone now."
Yeah, the dangers of iPods.... Not that I know this for a fact or anything. Yeah, it's just a story I heard. Mmhmm. Gah.

When I talked to Cullen with my mage, the first thing that came to mind was that he has a crush on PC and was ashamed of it. He was raised by the Chantry to believe that all mages are dangerous, one step from becoming an Abomination at all times and lets be honest, it's not like the Chantry teaches Templars anything that good about mages. So yeah, he is shy for sure, but not only because he's all cute and adorable.. because the thoughts in his head are both alluring and deeply wrong at the same time... imo. It makes him hate himself. And the PC. Cullen is definitely NOT a sweet puppy doll. He has serious issues.
It must've been awful for him to watch someone he longed for, but knowing he could never go near and yet could not leave. No wonder that after being tortured by Uldred something in his head cracked beyond repair.
