Which ones, just out of curiosity?

I wanted to romance Kal Reegar, Kirrahe, Shiala, Mordin, Bray, Zaeed, Samara, Chellick, James Vega, Joker, Gianna, and Wrex! A female Turian would have been cool too. Too bad they weren't added in till Omega DLC.

I would have liked romance options with Tela Vasir and Nihlus Kirk except they get killed off.

I would totally romance Legion, Elcor that does Hamlet, Blasto and Harbinger if I could.

Out of the available romances the best is probably Garrus, Kaidan, Samantha and Liara. I wish Kelly had the same status as other romances, they kinda discarded her romance in ME3.

Thane, Cortez and Tali just seem awkward to me in the given circumstances of when they want to pursue a relationship with you.

The others are OK but not great.

It would be interesting to see female Drells, Batarians, and the Raloi make appearances in Mass Effect

Harbinger?  LOL...well, I suppose he did have the dialogue for it.

"Relinquish your form to us."

"Shepard, submit now!"

"You are arrogant Shepard. You will learn."

"You will know pain, Shepard."

"This is true power."

Harbinger's dialogue is hilarious when taken out of context.

For my tastes (emphasis on "my"):

-- Jack: frickin love this character, even before the romance comes into play. I've always had a weakness for the wild ones. Love her attitude, her swagger, and above all else I enjoy having her around. Small size isn't typically my thing, but she makes up for it in every other way. The romance's progression also feels very natural, even reflects how my own feelings (as a player) for her grew as I kept spending time with her. I was happy enough with how it continued in the next game. It wasn't a lot of content, but romances should not be central to this anyway. Then Citadel DLC gave me more yet and I was blown away. Very well done Jack romance content.

-- ME1 Ashley: like Jack, I loved this strong, spirited woman in my squad... but I ultimately Virmire'd her for the dramaz (in retrospect, thank goodness).

Samantha and Kaidan are also decent romances. Garrus is too, though a little bit silly.

The rest are varying degrees of suck, characters though I may like.

Best: Ashley Williams just based on its alot more realistic than the other romances. No love is ever perfect and thats basically what Ashley and Shepard symbolize, through conflict and mistrust through everything that love will prevail. No other ME relationship is like that really other than Kaidans (who happens to be my main romance for my Femshep).

Second Best: Thane (for Femshep)

Third: Jack

Worst:

Liara (overly creepy, stalker type, too much asskissing, overrated because Bioware pushed her down the players throat)

Tali (too much damsel in distress and hero worship)

Jacob (Character Assassination)

I think my favourite romance is Steve Cortez, since I could finally get my BroShep some man lovin'. I'm aware of the faults in his romance arc, but even so, it felt right for my Shepard in particular. It was nice to finally be able to have my Shepard in a relationship, I, myself, could relate to, being gay.

My Shep was both a Colonist and a Sole Survivor - so he'd lost his family as a child, and then his friends as a grown man. There's a lot of loss in his backstory, so the fact that he knows what it's like to lose a loved one just made him and Steve mesh so well IMO. This is especially true with the whole "Not one moment for granted" theme of the romance, which both men understand all too well.

I've also romanced Jack before, and I'm a sucker for romance storylines that involve breaking down emotional walls. That last scene where she finally gives into Shepard is very sweet.

As for my worst romance? Probably Miranda. I did go through with it once, but it felt quite shallow. Perhaps it was because I couldn't... appreciate the flavours of it. The infamous booty shot and general oversexualization of Miranda bugged me. I bought that armoured outfit DLC for her ASAP.

Miranda is a better romance if you don't speak to her after every mission in ME2. Actually, to me all of the ME2 romances are better if you put 2 or 3 missions between the character's Normandy conversations.

My person favourite character (and ME2) wise, Thane. Most definitely
His treatment in ME3 though... oh lordy lord.
I've done a Garrus and Kaidan runthrough, and I think they're both really well done. However, I just do not care about Kaidan at all. He doesn't interest me, but I still think his romance is good.

Jacob is obviously the worst, heh.

Much better. Miranda is in my opinion, arguably the best romance for Male Shepard. I get what the guy is saying in that he can't get into the flavor of the type of person Miranda is (most can't), but she, and the romance, is anything but shallow. Granted, she'd have a sexual/physical relationship with a person, but to actually be invested in someone? She's very possessive and very clear with how she feels when she opens up about it.

Favorite: Kaidan or Ashley. There is genuine conflict between Shepard and the VS. This adds drama and a romance story arc to the series. This is the only romance that has a proper story arc, it starts off good, then goes bad, then can become good again. The other romances are mostly on a steady incline.

Least Favorite: Liara. She just feels like Shepard's lapdog, to me. My only problem with ME is the obscene level of narcissism. No character contributes more to this than Liara.

Did you play ME2? Liara has a goal of her own and refuses to subordinate it to Shep.

Shepard: Come with me Liara
Liara: The universe doesn't work that way Shepard. I can't drop everything for you.

Fair enough. Looking back on it, I don't think "shallow" was the right word for Miranda, so my bad. I remember how difficult it was for Miranda to actually ask Shepard for help in her loyalty mission, so truly opening up to someone and being vulnerable probably isn't something she's used to. She seems much more complex when looking at her from that angle, I guess.

Best: Thane. I thought the way ME3 handled the whole thing (especially with Citadel) was one of the high points.

Worst: Either Jacob or Liara. Jacob's the only one that actually CHEATS on you, but I really really hate how forced Liara feels. Even after sternly telling her to feck off before Ilos I still end up macking on her when I first arrive on Illium. No, you pureblood b!+ch, my heart belongs to almost anyone else.

Diana Allers. I don't hate her, but she is technically the worst.

If you notice, in one of the interviews, if Shepard gets at all flirty in his/her cabin, when it's over and Allers is walking out, the hovering camera shakes at you, as if to say "You don't want this. Seriously."

All my Shepards seem to have two things in common in the romance department, actually: they all get close to Kelly, and none of them partake in the hagraven.

If it had been Emily Wong instead, this would've been an entirely different conversation.

Hahaha! You mean when you flirt with her after she says she might follow you home?

You make out with her? Are you allowed to kick her off the ship after that also?

I thought they should have used Khalisah, though I'm a sucker for a good redemption arc. That being said, had they gone that route there would either have to be no romance arc or it would have to be locked out to anyone who had slugged her in the past.

I would make my femshep go to eye care associates to get her eye's checked. There is not enough alcohol or dope in the galaxy for me to romance that thing.
