I thought they should have used Khalisah, though I'm a sucker for a good redemption arc. That being said, had they gone that route there would either have to be no romance arc or it would have to be locked out to anyone who had slugged her in the past.
I wouldn't mind having her on the ship. I do agree if you punch her in the past, it locks out any chance to romance her.

In an ideal world, a choice between the two would've been fantastic, like the choice between Chakwas and Michel for the Normandy's physician. Two of my Shepards would undoubtedly go for Wong, but one very well could go towards Khalisah for her tonal difference and, yeah, the chance to make up for her previous journalistic foibles.
That reminds me, I still need to do a run where I opt for Michel.
I would make my femshep go to eye care associates to get her eye's checked. There is not enough alcohol or dope in the galaxy for me to romance that thing.

I've yet to do a Michel run through either. On the one playthrough where I intended to recruit Michel I actually felt guilty about refusing Chakwas, and couldn't do it. I might have to do a ME2 playthrough where Chakwas dies, so Michel is the only option in ME3.

That's what I was thinking, but I wasn't sure if there was a loyalty tier in that situation or not.

The couple of times I had Dr.Michel on the Normandy was when I did have Chakwas dead and the other time I sent Chakwas to Hackett.

That's probably the RP angle I'll end up choosing, possibly with my current Shep.
Actually, Gibbed has a plot flag for Chakwas' survival which is separate from Kelly's. The game has no issues portraying Kelly alive and Chakwas dead.Yes. The only way Chakwas dies, is to have all the other crewmembers die.
Samara's non romance is arguably the best romance currently present, it works for both genders, though I find it more suitable for male characters. Apart from the obvious candidates I find that a good deal of the major romances (Jack, Tali, Thane) are awkard at best and contrived at worst.
Best: Tali, Allers, Kaidan, Garrus and Thane.
Worst: Liara and Ashley.

I always take Michel. In fact, I prefer her to Hacksaw now a days. You miss some of the content you might get, but I never felt connected to her. She's a background character, and ME3 shows that she's replaceable. Besides, with Kelly gone, I need an actual hottie on-board. Pity you never get to flirt with or romance her.

Yeah but... The bonus you get from "Hacksaw" is much better. She upgrades your medi-gel so that half the time you don't even use it up, Michel merely gives you an extra medi-gel use. That makes Chakwas the better option from a efficiency perspective.

Yeah, it's hard. I can't resist Chakwas' plea to return, and it just feels wrong for the story to just kick this character out of the picture like that.
Not for my renegade shep. She's the Butcher of Torfan. She died and was returned, then survived a suicide mission to the galactic core.
She had no difficulty staring down a doctor.
The Butcher of Torfan Shep that I have has a rather substantial body count in his campaign. Chakwas doesn't even live to see ME3. It's fitting that only Zaeed and Jack make it out with him.

Hmm. I thought an efficiency minded person would be focused on getting upgrades for the Crucible, which Hacksaw gives you through her expertise in chemical plastics. +10 War Assets is more tangible than an invisible slight healing boost.
