I think Ashley's is really really good if you have all the DLC. Their romance is like a simple love yet complicated with a complex touch so there is a sense of realism there. No real relationship is perfect and sometimes it gets ugly and **** hits the fan (The citadel coup) but at the end of the day, they work out their differences and she comes back. The only real downside besides her basically only getting a cameo appearance in 2 is that the way they retconned her after her writer left before ME2 and that massive amount of cut content they took from her in 3. I feel Liara is overrated mostly because I can't stand her and because the way Bioware shoved her in your face like, "here you should romance Liara, are you sure you don't want to romance our creepy blue smurf?" The way they did Jacob was textbook character assassination so he obviously takes the cake as one of the worst.
Best and worst romances from Mass Effect trilogy.

The second necro in one night! I'm impressed, in a faux-irritated kind of way. And it's basically the same thread no less.
Just go ahead and make a new thread man. Check time-stamps before you post.

Ranking for worst romances:
1) Morinth
2) Jacob - It's worth buying the Citadel DLC just to slap him! ![]()
That is all...

I'll have you note if you kill Jacob in the suicide mission, it's actually one of my favorites for ME2.
....But yeah, romanced Jacob gets a lot of rockets since ME3.

I tried to romance Jacob in my last ME2 game, but shep called him naive at one point and he told her to go away. I didn't consider it a loss.

That's what you get for being a woman and thinking you can change a man. Jacob even tells you he's not good enough a man (for Miranda).
That should at least give you a clue ![]()

He hates his father but ends up doing stupid things... I'd say BioWare got something right.

At the time Jacob said that (about Miranda) I was getting the impression that no one was good enough for Miranda.

If they actually did go out, Miranda would have done the same to Jacob to what she did to her father in ME3 when she finds out he's cheating on her.... and I don't think that's sad.

If leaving his father to be mauled by feral spacemen doesn't cure naivety, nothing will.

My Favourites:
Garrus/FemShep
Jack/MShep
Samantha/FemShep (also that thing where MShep attempts at flirt and gets shot down)
Kaidan/MShep (both the ME1 modded and non-modded options, Kaidan felt like my best friend throughout the series, so losing him in ME2 added a lot of emotional value)
Tali/Garrus (awwwwwwwwwwww)
Liara/Feron (that's nice, dear)
Samara kisses
*Special bromance option- Grunt
*Frienship relationship with Chakwas
Least Favourites:
Miranda/MShep (Yes, you're super hot, we get it. Now get rid of that ego, please.... she as a character got better in ME3 though)
Jacob/FemShep (Bastard dumped me and knocked up someone else)
Morinth/MShep (Ow.)
Thane/FemShep (Bastard dumped me and died)
Liara/Shepard (Literally, I suffered the "be nice to Liara, she's now your permanent LI, even though you refused her when confronted" too many times, plus it was... awkward)
Characters I wanted to romance:
Kaidan/MShep in ME1 without modding
Any gay option in ME2
Samara/Shepard
Mordin/Shepard
Garrus/MShep
Kirrahe/Shepard
*Honourable mention- Kelly, Lieutenant Kurin

I borrowed the format from the OP, and I forgot to take it out. ALSO, I almost forgot. ANY RELATIONSHIP WITH LIEUTENANT KURIN. She was awesome. That is all.

what in the world was so awesome about a generic character with about 2 minutes of screen time, with some of the most generic dialogue out there

Agree to disagree, Kurin, for me, was perhaps the most impactful death in the game. Sometimes the small ones hit you, why do you think they're so many people hung up on Kirrahe?

I think the Liara romance is best for the story line. She is far more invested in the relationship than any other IMO. Not much in the way of twists though. The romance with Ashley/Kaiden is more interesting. Get close in ME1, split in ME2 where you can get a rebound GF/BF, and maybe get back together in ME3 or stick with your ME2 LI or get a LI with one of the new people. I'm biased though. As I have said in other threads, My Shepard's heart beats bright Asari blue.
Hard to say which of the others was the worst romance, but I think it was Garrus. Tried it a few times, but I can never get into it at all.

Kirrahe was actually interesting. He had a badass speech (I'm 99.99% sure his hold the line speech is the real reason most people like him, including myself), whereas Kurin has absolutely nothing interesting going on for her

Yep, I agree. The Asari commandos on Thessia are one of the better bits of ME3.
