It's really cool as long as it's optional.

Unlike James, please allow the option not to flirt back,
Well, you can tell him to GTFO with the nicknames, then you don't have to get the Lola thing.
But yes, automatic flirting, like Jacob in ME2, I do not want.

Aveline? You could lay it pretty heavy on her but nothing would come out of it,
I think the OP is referring to both parties having friendly flirty banter that doesn't lead to anything. I think such an option would have been great for Varric.Tootles FTW wrote...
EDIT - you can flirt with Sebastian too.
You can? The only thing I can think of that is close is a purple option where Hawke says "What would I do without my favorite dwarf? I'd cry myself to sleep without you."Face of Evil wrote...
You can flirt with Varric. It just never goes anywhere.

Idk about the other romances, but if you're romancing Fenris, Varric will have a talk with you about it and sarcastic Hawke can say something along the lines of, "Well, well, well. I never thought you were the jealous type!" Varric will go on to say that Hawke is "just too high-maintenence" for him. (At least playing male. I think there might be a legitimate heart option with a female Hawke, but it doesn't go anywhere obviously.)

For FHawke he says something like "It's the chest hair isn't it? Women can never resist the chest hair. Unfortunately it's not to be" and you reply "Bianca stands in my way again". I think it's the sarcastic option.

Watching hubby try to lure Aveline away from Donnic was delicious but I'd also enjoy a character as flirty as Zev who had no interest in actually folowing through with anyone.

I actually did that (and thought of Jacob in ME2 when I did, as in "Oh no you don't, not again"), and there's still some flirtation later. Optional things like with Aveline and Varric could be interesting, though. I think it also makes it seem less like you're guaranteed success (since you won't be).

Actually, it doesn't requrire metagaming at all. I play MMO's and am in legions/guilds in these MMO's. There are people in these legions/guilds that I can't stand to talk to, and I don't talk to them. It doesn't require me to metagame it, I just don't do it. To take this to SP, in playthroughs where I despised Cerberus, and all it stood for, most of them, I simply didn't talk to Miranda or Jacob except when it was time for their loyalty missions, and I didn't bring them on missions unless they had to go. No metagaming required, I didn't like them, or what they stood for, and didn't want to hang out with them, so I didn't.Cyberfrog81 wrote...
Aveline was pretty good. Samara in ME2 as well.
Didn't like Femshep/Vega, since I can only have a say in the matter by avoiding the conversations as much as possible for the characters that aren't at all interested (which requires metagaming).
To the topic, one of the funniest moments for me in ME 3 is shutting James down while he's getting his tatoo, because essentially, he shuts himself down. You can shut him down as soon as it starts, by choosing a speciific dialog option when he starts calling you Lola as well. All in all, I thought it was well handled with James.
With Aveline, I thought it was well handled too. It didn't go over her head, she just brushed it off every time. At least, that's the impression I got when I actually tried it.
