4 challenges away myself. 7 promotions, about 5 platinum matches, a whole bunch of punching and what I'm struggling with the most... two gold solos. I can handle platinum in a team, but soloing gold? I'm not cut out for that.

The 3 Drells are great. The Raptor and Hornet are awful but can be done on weapons classes. And the Phoenixdept is a lot of fun to play for me.
Has something to do with my inability to vanguard, i suppose. Volusguard lol... never touching that one if i can help it.

To be honest OP, I'm about to stop using it because the flip side of that banner is lobbies where players actually REMOVE their consumables when they see you pop in, then go rambo and die/bleed out and your solo wave upon wave, then they rage when you die because "your botb"

You were just unlucky and had a bad experience so far with wearers of the banner.
I've encountered 5-6 BotB players so far and they were all both friendly and good to play with. My personal experience shows that whoever has said banner knows a thing or two about the game and definitely doesn't "suck ass" as the majority of this forum would have you believe.
I am one promotion away from getting it myself and I will wear it proudly, thinking back to the pain and suffering I had to endure to get it, completing such glorious feats as 60 promotions (ugh...), 200 Phoenix Vanguard waves, 200.000 CAR points, etc.

I didn't read your whole post. But I did see something about your N7 Rank and Challenge points. Honestly if you are over 400 N7 and preferably over 500 challenge points I don't care. But if you are using a level 16 N7 Destroyer with an M-8 Avenger II and a Talon I, and you want to play gold with no equipment...I will judge you

I'm N7 240, with 33,000 challenge points. I'm 24/25, only missing the N7 promotions to get BotB - but i cant be bothered doing it.
I know how meaningless it all is, i COULD be BotB, promoting 60 times takes no skill, so am i a worse player as N7 240 with no banner applied, compared to a BotB bannered-player... No.
If challenges were there on launch, most people would be BotB by now; so no dont feel inadequate or less valued than them. It's true they might be laughing at you, but laugh back - it's a meaningless image.

Seriously though, rank, banner, challenge points, noneof those matter without context. I'm 20 something gold matches away from my both, but I let anyone play with me, and help them the best I can. If I see a sub hundred rank person join my gold game, I friend em. They have a ways to go, and I'm proud to assist.

Wow, i didn't expect to see so many replies from everyone. I only expected like 5 or 6 with only a few simple answer to be honest, but not a page full. So this is how many people care about helping an ally in need... This is how truely strong the BSN community is in terms of helping others.

Btw, there are quite a few people who do have BotB, but don't put in on in PUG lobbies feeling that it places unfair expectations on them. So there are two sides to this story as well.

I wear my Hero of the Last Days banner (think it's kinda cool looking) and yes, it's because it was the first one I got and I wanted to wear something.
Now that I've played some, I realize that banners mean squat. Some of these guys have these banners because they've played insane amounts of hours, so they completed some of these challenges purely from getting the reps. Just because you don't have one doesn't mean you're not a monster player. Do yourself a favor and play with one or two of those guys next time you bump into one. They're human too.

I just got my BotB banner, and I really wish it said something other than "Best of the Best" -- partly for this reason and partly because it feels like gloating.
I may sport it for awhile because I just barely got it, but personally I like the N7 banner the best.

If you are expecting BotB's to lead the field in a game, don't be disappointed if they don't. Sometimes they just want to play a laid back game. Other times they will score the highest. Does it really matter? Most I come across are solid team players. What more can you ask for?
A couple nights ago I was in a pub Gold game and 3 of us had the Botb banner. The 4th guy score the highest by the end lol - but we had to revive him about 12 times, and he didn't help with objectives. So who was the best player in that game? Who cares. We all earned 80K and a full extraction.
