But seriously...I play with a group of guys who all have it, it really requires little skill to obtain, more grinding than anything. Doesn't mean the person wearing it sucks at the game. Don't get why anyone would feel insecure with someone in their party wearing a picture. A lot of Platinum guys have had it for a while now.

I shall resist the urge to post a screen-shot of yet another supposedly elite BotB holder who just cost me two rockets to save him in wave 9 of a Gold/Cerberus/London game when he tried to solo a spawn of Phantoms in CQC with an Asari Huntress and then refused to medi-gel or use rockets in wave 10 when I had expended my last rocket to change the target objective from Atlas to Phantom.

Considering I have absolutely no urge to Promote 60 times, I'll never finish it which doesn't really bother me. I think that might burn me out on MP for good and I certainly don't want that. Also, with some of the ridiculous responses over the FemShep banner option (so much better to look at than Sheploo), I just would rather avoid the drama llamaz. But yeah, there are a lot of "BotB" jackasses out there, but not all of them are all bad. Certainly not as obnoxious as the vast amount of "Lone Wolf"s I've run into.

I am 14 promotions from the BoB banner and I will wear it not because I am bragging or more elite than other players. I wear it for me, for all the time I dealt with disconnects, rng store, invisible enemies, glitched maps and floating vanguards, and magnetic hand sync kills, I persevered and achieved it.

It is the same reason I wear Lone Wolf over all others, I am a good team player but a mediocre soloist. As such I am very proud that was able to complete the solos.

I just earned the BOTB banner a few days ago. I feel justified displaying it because of the significant time investment and to be fair, I am proud of the 'accomplishment.' I do recognize that it can be off-putting to newer players, those who are still working toward this objective, or those who simply don't care. It can also send the wrong message and deliver the kind of feeling to other players as the OP stated ('I think I am better than you', I can complete the mission solo/without your help, et al). Admittedly, I'll revert back to Council Operative or Survivor as those are my personal favorites. In my ME3 Multiplayer career, I will forever be outscored by others than be the 'top scorer' in any given match, and I'm still learning new builds, tactics and play styles every day. But over the course of earning the banner I learned how to be comfortable with a very wide variety of kits and loadouts across varying character and class levels applied against all factions and difficulties. You can find snobs and poor players both with and without the BOTB banner. Don't allow yourself to be intimidated by something that's nothing more than an accomplishment reward.

I've got the BotB banner, but I dont use it, theres so much negativity directed towards it on these forums. I just use nomad instead as I like the look of it.

BotB doesn't mean you're infallible, It just means you enjoy the game and have spent a lot of time playing it. If that player didn't carry the BotB banner I don't think you would have even batted an eyelid. When someone wears the BotB banner they're not boasting, but it takes a reasonable amount of skill and a lot of time and they've earned the right to use it....as well as the scorn from BSN.

I don't mean to single you out but the amount of bile directed towards BotB banner wearers on these forums is a lot higher than it should be. It seems like BotB wearers are constantly scrutinised and not allowed to have a bad day.

havent read all the posts, but I guess most of the folks here are saying it's not a big deal, and they're correct.

having botb only means you've spent alot of time playing the game, as for looking down on others, there are always someone who is like that, and they're most likely @ssholes too.

also the game is pretty forgiving, and doing odd builds is totally fine, on bronze you can play a lvl 1 volus adept with the worst and heaviest guns in the game and still do well, on silver I'll still not bother to check on your weapons since most setups work fine.

as for gold, as long as you know what ur doing, got your consumables ready, and a fitting weapon you can still do well with a lvl 1 character, I know because I tried.

all in all, don't feel intimidated, we all love you just for doing your best.

Another problem with the botb banner is that it brings out the "carry me!" attitude in some people. I've joined lobbies before where after someone with botb joined, the host ninja'd up the difficulty or players decreased their equipment level.

@OP

Shift your framework of thinking. See them as a guardian, a teammate, an ally, not as a competitor. I usually breath a sigh of relief when I see the banner, because I know they are well versed in the game, and will help the team reach extraction.

It's just a banner, probably the only one making a judgement in the lobby on your hero banner is you. I've played with a few BOTB and never felt uncomfortable about it. I play regularly with two and they have always been supportive of me especially in our first few games. As has been said earlier in the thread there are good 'uns and bad 'uns. Enjoy the game and have fun, that's all that is important.

BOTB don't mean sheet. I have it for xbox, but I did a lot of challenges on silver and bronze to do them as fast as possible. The only one that is somewhat of a challenge is lone wolf, and if you are a good gold level player than it shouldn't be too hard to do.

Most of the "Best of the "best" pugs I play with aren't any better than the average random.

I've outscored every "best of the best" player I've come across, and usually by a handsome margin!

I bet they are looking at my 180 N7 rating and 8000 challenge points thinking WTF this guy should have my banner..haha

But seriously it is a bit satisfying outscoring these people especially with some lesser kits while they always go for the glitchy paladin or turian ghost with a harrier.

wow. tis a little pompous. but you cool bro. you cool.

so is the banner, and *most* people who use it

I completely agree with this post. Spot on, Governor and or other state executive.

Op, I have run into a lot of players with the BoTB who just rage quit when things don't go their way or they just really suck. Having the banner doesn't mean jack in terms of skill, just like the challenge points or the N7 ranking, it just means they grinded a lot quicker than you did. I'm only going for the banner because of the femshep version. That's it. It's like when I was sporting my Lone Wolf banner for an experiment. I get dropped into a gold lobby with some players who just got the game and they all wiped on wave 6 just to watch me, didn't even gel throughout the match. It did prove one thing even though it was one match, is that people judge way too much on banners, challenge points, and N7 ranking alone. I'm going at my own pace.

I never used to wear botb until thanks to Bryan we got a femshep version. Botb is a mixed bag along with every assumption of a 'good player' you'll never know until play with them either way.

Look at the other side:

1. I have BoB, but don't wear it to much. I don't feel like a platinum solo player.
2. I still play it, but only for fun. I try silver very often.
3. More and more I am trying crazy builds and weak weapons I missed during the challenges, so I could actually slow down the rest of the team.
4. I don't care if people outscore me. In fact I never did. It is funny to see people trying hard to do it just because of the banner.

.... and so on ....

When they see my N7 Rating of 1719, Challenge Points of 7850, and "Hero of the Last Days" banner (favorite banner btw) it feels like they're saying "Awww, look at the little one trying to rise up! You'll never be as good as me! Hahahahah!". It may be all an exaggeration, but this is how I feel... It feels like I'm being mocked by those players, and it hurts!
...
I don't want to feel like everyone who has high accomplishments will look down on me for having so little. It's a painful heartache that shouldn't hurt, and I shouldn't care about what other people think. Yet, it's still there. Is it normal to feel this way? What is it that's causing me to feel like this? And how do I stop it?
: (

You're overthinking it.  Really.  You're giving too much credit to the BotB/LW and unfairly assuming that they are pitying you.  Just play the game and don't worry about banners and what nots.

Just don't be a bad PUG.  Equip consumables, use medigel, and help with objectives.  You can do those despite  what numbers/banners you have.

BTW, 1719/7850 is not little.

I'll look at a players N7 points and how many times they promoted their class before I even think that the banner has any indication of whats to come. I sport the banner only because its so mucho color!

OK its real easy. Lets look at what makes the BotB banner:

Lone Wolf: You can have someone else do it, use a team to do it and in the last wave, everyone leaves and forces a wave restart,

Really? You can do that? I always thought you had to solo it from wave 1 all the way to the end. Seriously???

He is trolling. You have to start from Wave 1 and have it be just you the entire match. If someone joins and leaves, it won't count.

No he's not, I've seen it twice.  I was duoing Silver with a buddy and I got disconnected on Wave 10 or 11.  He extracted and got credit for a solo.  A second time, I was trying to join a match from a party, joined the wrong person's game (he was soloing).  I left that game and he got solo credit.
