But yes, BOTB means nothing except that you have a lot of free time. Almost none of the challenges require a high level of skill to complete.

I'm working on it to sate my completionist tendencies, but with the amount of time I spend on the game, it'll probably be another few months, at least.

I only use the banner when I feel like trolling pugs and acting like a noob. People tend to think a person with the botb will carry a team and as a result not have to try, I prove them wrong and try and make a foe out of myself and anyone else with the banner. I use other banners when I feel like playing a real game. Ps they should have a worst of the worst or best of the noobs banner to.

You don't have to be that good to get the BotB banner.  Hell, some people even missile glitched their way through most of it.  If someone acts arrogant or condescending because they have the BotB banner, they deserve to be ridiculed.

 I suppose it's natural for them to feel this way though if they did, to feel this way towards players using HotLD banner, the average amount of players that use HotLD aren't known to be that good at the game. Granted, it was also one of the easiest banners to obtain when the event was out. But I'm using it because its the only one that I actually like. Before it existed there was no other banner I wanted on my profile, and I didn't have a banner on by choice. The instant I saw HotLD though after completing Operation Prophecy I fell in love. That banner was applied and I never took it off since. But now, there is one more banner that has caught my attention, it's a new banner that I would even give up my HotLD for. An interesting twist too as you'll soon understand, but anyway, that new banner is FemShep's "Best of the Best". Funny isn't it? But it's a banner out of my reach thanks to "Squad Elite" and "Solo Mastery".

This problem goes beyond simple jealously. In fact, I don't even think it is jealously. I'm not upset when I see someone with Best of the Best & knowing that it isn't one I have. And the banner by itself also isn't what is causing my insecurity. It's seeing other people with the banner combined with knowing that you have to have a high skill level to obtain it. That means all of those people I saw with Best of the Best have a high skill level! Inside, I should be happy whenever I team up with someone on multiplayer who has Best of the Best banner because it also means teaming up with an ally that's really strong... but I'm not. I should have the feeling of comfort that everyone always wants in a teammate, to play with someone that knows what they're doing in the game.... but I don't. This is what has been haunting me since I found out about Best of the Best banner. I get tortured mentally and I'm unsure as to what I'm supposed to do...

(My first encounter with a Best of the Best player was in a Gold session. They voted a kick on me for using a level 10 character. Everyone else was level 20.  No one else agreed to the kick thoug, so that player just left. It showed that they were the one who voted the kick... Every other time after that which involved me encountering one of those players would always end in either them coming in the session & leaving immediately for an unknown reason,  or me entering their session only to walk out before game start because of my insecurity. I have never been in a live game with someone who uses Best of the Best. But if I did then I'm sure my performance would be affected more negative than positive with the lack of morale.)

I don't want to feel this way... I don't want to feel like everyone who has high accomplishments will look down on me for having so little. It's a painful heartache that shouldn't hurt, and I shouldn't care about what other people think. Yet, it's still there. Is it normal to feel this way? What is it that's causing me to feel like this? And how do I stop it?

the banner means nothing. 99% of it is just grinding and time played. nothing is diffcult to do. i guess you can say lone wolf is kinda, but in reality its not since you can kroguard geth, also if you have an IL friend who is good they can just solo gold on your account for you. I've come across some BotB banner people who were terrible at the game. They also could have missile glitched their way for lone wolf. I mean one guy i came across was only a silver player (i checked his N7HQ) cause he was terible in gold. I think he scored like 4k while trying. and got me a 15 revive medal. I think a friend did his lone wolf for him or he missile glicthed cause I don't see how he could have done it as a kroguard and geth,

dont be insecure, its just a banner and means nothing. and who cares about skill level. its just a vieo game. people take it too serious IMO

Regardless of whatever accolades they have, they can either be really skilled or they can suck ass.

If the OP is being serious: Not to be mean but it sounds like you have some self - esteem issues that have nothing to do with ME3. I strongly encourage you to seek counseling.

I wouldnt think like that, some BoftheB banners Ive seen running in publics are really bad....Ive seen several go down on wave 1 in a gold game and use a medigel...and then when they have no more medigel they leave the game. It doesnt mean they are better than you, just means they had more time on their hands. The only thing of significance is the lone wolf banner, but that shoudlnt make you feel insecure, the rest of it is just grinding....

don't be intimidated. I have it and only because I have friends who were also working on the banners. We would carry each other using bad class and weapons combinations on low level characters and worked on map mastery. Most people are nervous about soloing a gold for the first time but once you get the hang of it, it's much easier then you thought it would be.

Did it ever occur to you that maybe you're reading into things that other people wouldn't aren't seeing? Frankly I saw nothing d-bagesque about the post in question. It was blunt, yes, but it also clearly had the wellbeing of the OP in mind.

Also, saints, I'm starting to doubt you're actually reading the things you're responding to because CmnDwnWrkn clearly wrote 'armchair' psychologist, not psychologist, which makes your response nonsensical.

While I agree that BoB doesn't necessarily indicate an extraordinarely skilled player, I have to disagree with all of you that are saying it means "nothing". It takes a great deal of time playing the game to earn ALL the banners, which is the achievement for which BoB is awarded. Anybody playing that much of the game has a familiarity with the mechanics that is useful in a co-op game.

I honestly had no idea that people had such negative thoughts about the banner. It's a shame.

To the OP: have fun, be a good teammate and kill as much as you can. That's all anyone can ask or expect from another player in the game, regardless of the banner, challenge points or N7 ranking.

If you are a good player, you don't even have to worry about it. It's just a banner with a lot of easy challenges, nothing more.

At the present time, I'm using Best of The Best banner, but sometimes I like to use Hardcore, Outsider or Monster banner.

Not a big deal.

So far all BotB players I've seen are good. Doesn't mean they're the best. In game actions are what impresses, not the title.
