I like the FemShep version too much to worry about the stigma it carries.

Weapon load outs, weapon levels, and gear levels are all better indicators of likely performance. I generally just assume that whatever banner a person wears is personal preference and that they probably have BotB (or are at least very close) but chose a different banner due to aesthetics or title. There are some wicked looking banners out there, and I wore the pistol banner for a number of weeks just so I could be a 'Gunslinger'.

I am not the world greatest player and my gold solo runs took me an hour each for solo mastery. I am competent enough to save the day on gold if the team wipes though most of the time. I am close to getting The Best of the Best (just 14% left on map mastery) but even when I get it I would never look at another player and judge them on the N7, challenge points or banner.

I understand that players get better with experience but even then some will always be better than others. All I expect is for then to do their best and be realistic with themselves.

The problem with the Best of the Best banner, IMO, is that it is called the BEST OF THE BEST. So even if someone is wearing it just because they like the picture, the others in the lobby think "whoa, we got some braggart who thinks he's badass over here" and react accordingly.

I hope to get the banner eventually, but I wish it had some other title, like "Dauntless," "Dedicated," "Defender of the Galaxy" or something else that sounds a bit less arrogant. I want to wear it for the FemShep pic and not to advertise my tremendous E-boobz. Sure, I have done Nomad, but I can't carry a PUG on Gold and anyone who expects me to is bound for disappointment, followed by them making some "I played with some n00b with BotB banner who couldn't carry when I got sync-killed in wave 3" thread.

I`ll get the BotB banner soon, but I won`t use it. If I used it, people would just be let down by my skills... It`s all about playing a lot and with different kits, not so mutch beeing the actual best. I prefer my Hallowed Hero banner still:)

Meh. I have outscored many 'Best of the Best' and I wasn't even playing any classes considered easy by BSN. It's a banner. It doesn't mean anything beyond a certain point.

I can honestly care less about people that have that banner! Most of the people that I've seen wearing that banner cant even play gold.

I got the btob banner, I don't wear it though, I like the look of the cyber warrior better. And even if I enter a lobby with low levels I check over a few things and I rarely ever kick. I just check the challenge rank, weapons and gear. These three things give a good indication to how a game is going to go. And rather than kick I flat out refuse to play a game where someone else wants another person gone for a stupid reason. And if I enter a lobby with ridiculous loadouts or unsuitable equipment all round I leave and save myself the hassle.

To be honest I walked into a gold lobby with 3 n7 less than 120 but they new what to do and the three matches I played with them went flawlessly

I do have the BotB banner, sometimes I use it sometimes I dont. If im in a silver lobby I wont mind who I play with, on Gold I'll get a little concerned about N7 rank, but on Platinum I pay very close attention to it. 300 is my limit anything less is a recipe for desaster. I wont mock the lower ranked people I know they are still learning and need more practice. On Gold if I see something that concerns me ill invite the player to my party and coach them. I usually get friend requests quickly that way also. Point is though we did go through a lot of challeges to get those banners and we know everyone else is doing the same thing and we encourage those to have the tenacity to aim towards that goal.

Having a BotB banner doesn't mean you have high skill, it means you have a lot of time on your hands to have completed all the necessary challenges to obtain it. Skill merely determined how long it took to get the banner.

I wear my BotB banner proudly and I do not care what other people do.

With the banner I'm saying "I am good enough to carry you."

I play Gold 99% of time.

It's just a banner. I use the hardcore banner. Why? Because I'm hardcore and make these so called "best of the best" look like they're taking a rest.

The way I see it, if they really are the "Best of the Best", then they won't need my help to finish the round, so I don't bother with teamwork, reviving them, or using consumables. If they end up not needing help, then great - I get an easy game. If they end up needing my help to finish, then too bad - they shouldn't have been wearing an e-peen banner if they can't back it up with solid performance.

For what it's worth, my usual friends/team follow two simple rules:

"Are they using equipment?"
"Is the loadout at least REASONABLE?"

If the answer is yes to both, we keep them. If the answer to the first is yes and the second is no, we have a very quick delegation between us. If the answer to both is no and they ready up. Good bye.

N7/Banner has never been a defining factor for us and all but one of the group have the Best of the Best banner. We aren't laughing at you, we're trusting in you to be a valuable team mate and we feel our very generous rules give you a fair chance to prove yourself.

Don't let it worry you, we tend to just be people with either too much spare time or have dedicated ourselves to somethng we've learnt to love. We're not always top notch players and we sometimes **** up or like to try nw builds.

Just get your equipment on, ready up and have fun.

See ya on the battlefield, soldier! ^_~

Don't worry. Most of those aren't worthy of the title.

So true.

I saw some chick with one a few days ago in a PUG... I expected her to be at least competent... I was disappointed. Terribad...

A friend of mine quit playing a while ago after obtaining the banner ... now his son is using the account. Probably not the only one ...

First I decided to not wear the banner until I complete every 'little' sub-challenge at least once ... but I just can't resist femshep Image IPB

At least (I think ...) I can pull off a good fight and know how to behave, so I must not feel insecure wearing the banner.

To the OP: As many said before, there are good players and bad players wearing the banner. No need to worry or to be insecure, a good player will judge you by a reasonable loadout, not your N7/CP.

You come across a lot of players without it who do the stupidest
things to outscore you.

I suppose the upshot to playing with people like this is it makes your time in the match easier?

Hmm, can't understand people saying BotB means nothing when it comes to skill.
Anyone who has it has playes so much and learned so many chars and playstyles that he's skilled in some way.

I have yet to meet a BotB who actually sucks in Gold Games, each one I met could hold his own and help the team.

BotB means experienced, not necessarily skilled. I wear mine because I like to give the banner a good name.

Why is this thread still active..? We all know that banners don't mean anything.
