Don't know man.. I found the Moons more horrifying than the Reapers. more mysterious. It screwed my mind when I learned what the moons actually were.

They're essentially moon-sized Necromorphs. Do we know why the Moons devour life?

As stupid as it is, the Reapers have a reason for their genocides. Admittedly though, the moons are scarier then the Reapers, as is their method of "reproduction".

As stupid as it is indeed.  Replay ME1 to see what it was and should have remained: mysterious and beyond our ability to understand.  Tossing a dart at a board and selecting a boring, mundane, simplistic (and simpleton) reason for reaping does not a good ending make.

You people mind if I ask some questions regarding emotional investment here?

Zelda
DAO
Dragon Warrior
Fable.

Fable 3 was almost as big a let down as ME3 but I loved ME more.

None.

There used to be star Wars Galaxies pre-CU and pre-NGE. Did spend a good 70 hours a week playing that game.

If you think the ME3 endings caused a mass protest... it was even far worse when SWG changed into a WoW clone, 85% of the playerbase left the game.

spent months unlocking a force sensitive character, then spent months to level my jedi, spent another year getting aal the best gear possible and from one day to another, everything became worthless.

A bit extreme? There has been other great series before ME and I daresay there will be more to come. O.o

Dragon Age: Origins. The good news is I stopped before I purchased DA2. It was going to be the thing I finally bought after ME3, and then, well, you know the rest.

That's why DAO hasn't been ruined for me, yet!

I have played DA2, and it hasn't ruined DAO for me, probably because 1) I didn't hate it as much as others have,  for all its weaknesses.   and 2) it's not a direct sequel to DAO

But yeah, DAO is  a game I was heavily invested in.

Also:

Baldur's Gate series
Walking Dead
KOTOR & KOTOR 2
Alpha Protocol

It's an Internet message board. You don't think you could have just used your space to do so?

Don't want to derail the thread just for my own curiosity. Or did you mean make my own thread on it?

I meant your old post. It wouldn't derail the thread.

no other game has got me as attached to it's world and characters as ME did that is why I'm so upset about the ending.

however Dragon age 1&2, Skies of Arcadia and Shemue (think that's how you spell it) came damm close.

The only thing that comes close that I can think of is Spiderman (original movies and comics), Star Wars, and Halo. But Mass Effect surpassed them all. That's why the ending was such a bummer.

Only one other series has attracts my attention like Mass Effect has. That series is Dead Space. I recently completed the third game in the series. I won't spoil any thing for the fans that may be reading this but I will say it was one of the best games I have ever played. I started playing video games in 1983 so that is really saying something.

That's why it hurt so damn much. I won't let myself get that attached to a game again. It just isn't worth it.

A series I invested the most in other than ME is Assassin's Creed. Both these series have impressed so much that I cannot stop playing them.

None. I was depressed for at least a month after playing ME3 for the first time, and it had very little to do with how good or bad the ending was. To be honest, I'm still not sure I'm over it.

It's so embarrassing telling someone your depressed because of a video game.Image IPB

Darth, it's pretty straightforward. Caring about the characters, and for many of us actually being affected by the ending of certain games. Simple as giving a damn.

When you care enough to invest time and effort into forming, shaping or otherwise personalizing your alter ego, your avatar and continue to do so over the course of the game.

As opposed to just simply "playing the character".

ps: Also it is very likely that people who are emotionally attached to tge game and characters are more likely to buy alt appearance / weapon DLCs.
