My guess would be on what everyone is saying, but an easy way to test is to go hurt some banshees but not kill them, then check your mission progress in game.Earn 20,000 points killing Banshees.

Those didn't actually have the word killing in them. Usually, when the word kill is in the description, it means kill the enemy, but the times when that was the case, it was more clearly stated or there was a thread about it.

I will kill you.
I am killing you. *proceeds to kill you*
I have killed you.
No where in the blog does it say "killing blow", so, "killing" is an active, ongoing process of inflicting physical trauma until a creature dies.

Good point. Two hours maybe until we know for sure then.

Bah, a single Platinum Reaper game with Armored compartments should do the trick. People can't snap kills from a missile anyway unless everyone is trying to nuke the same spawn.
Then what about when sometimes I shoot and someone missile and I get the points instead? Thats technically stealing the kill right?

Well, if someone tries to steal your kill, you steal it right back. Easy.

Lost count how many times I wasted rockets on spawns and VIP enemies when a team mate missiled the same target just a split second before mine hit. Against reapers, at least I get a few swarmer kills

In Operation Detonator, the verbage was similar to this and we had to get credit for the kill for the points to count.
