Is anyone else getting this issue? I am usuing Impulse to download the application and have tried to uninstall and install it twice. I have played with every combo on the configuration screen.
Any advice would be great.
Windows vista 64 bit
dual nvidia 260
8gig ram
ect......
The game cannot launch because of a misconfiguration. Please reinstall?

I am having the same issue on Windows 7 64bit. I have tried executing it in compatibility mode, but it doesn't work either.

Do you guys mean you get a compatibility message come up after installing say the game did not install properly? With an option to reinstall? I get that when I install it on Win7 64b, but I just tell it not to reinstall and the game still launches and works fine.

Have none of the authors of the comments in this particular thread not ever reviewed any other thread on the subject?
www.google.com/search
About 86 results(0.37 seconds)
I've not had the problem, personally, however I feel fairly sure that it's been covered in other threads in which the answer was also included. The thing that I do notice is not one of the members whose posts have been appended have ever tried including any diagnostic information. For all that I don't see the value of the included HTML code that make it unreadable for ordinary members, Victor's description of a problem report has been stickied on top through most of this forum's existence.
I prefer Chris Priestley's description, currently near the top, where it's pinned in my name, in the ME-1 Tech Forum.
P. S. Google reported 86 hits on the subject. I've edited the Google search link in above.
One of those 86 is a pinned thread at the top of the ME-2 forum:

I have contacted EA numerous times and get a BS answer every time...if I have to take a computer class to play this game...I should have been told up front..I can't count the games I have played and not had one sit for a week unable to be played..

Personally, I've had almost no trouble whatsoever at any point, with any of three computers I've installed DAO on. I believe that is the same situation that the vast majority of the three million buyers of the game have experienced.
I try to help, but not having experienced difficulty to any extent, then what I suggest is look at the existing resources right here in the forum archives. Avoid the Social Forum's own "search", of course. It is badly broken, and always has been. Use whatevr search you usually choose, whether it is Yahoo, Google, or Bing, even. But add redirection in the form of a site: criteria to have it look here.
help.dragonage.com/
Be very certain that you understand where to look to for official support. That isn't offered here.

This is where gamers visit with other gamers to discuss tech stuff regarding the PC-based version of DAO. We don't work for either EA or Bioware. We do want you to involve yourself in your own game problems, or else trade in the PC version for a console version, if you are unwilling to do so.

P. S. There is ALREADY a link in my fairly recent previous comment to this thread, regarding problems with various digital versions, with which the majority of THIS error are concerned. I won't get it all over again, since it is both right here, just a quick scroll upward, and permanently pinned on top of the ME-2 Tech Forum.

I seem to notice that more problems arise from the digital versions, than from the CD version.
Whenever I see a "Problems installing.... Problems patching... Problems with DLC..." invariably the poster mentions that it was D/Led from Steam or some other online service.

Here is what worked for me:
1. Installed EA's download manager from EA's site. http://na.akamai.cdn...m-installer.exe
2. Backed-up EACoreServer.exe in the /program files/dragonage/bin_shp directory to a new folder. (On my system this was version 1.0.0.1)
3. Copied EACoreServer.exe from the /program files/Electronic Arts/EADM/EADUI/ directory to the directory in step 2 (On my system this was version 7.3.0.87)
4. Ran EACoreServer.exe from the dragon age directory. (May not need this step)
5. Ran Dragon Age, worked correctly.
6. To test: reset computer, login and start dragon age.
For me, this always starts dragon age without the 'Misconfiguration" error box. Dragon age did run correctly for me in the past, but sometime this month it started to generate this error.
You should be able to uninstall EA's DM without affecting DA, but I haven't tried this.
