Yeah I can not even complete the game they overwhelmed be with Gran Pulse after spending so many hours just by walking forward I couldn't complete the game. None of the characters are memorable or interesting Only the black guy story was interesting. And even then I don't really care for his story that much.  And Lighting. I didn't find her interesting at all... And they are dedicating an entire game on her? Really where is Final Fantasy XV? No one cares about Lighting she is bland and even freaking Squall has more emotion than her.  Case in point.

Word. As long they don't mess up KH3 and Final Fantasy Versus XIII (if they even release) I'll be alright with how they operate.

Ah, you must be one of those people who think BioWare is ruined. I bet you also think Final Fantasy sucks from FFX and onwards (and probably think that FFVII is the best FF game).

I actually started playing Final Fantasy 13 again, for the second time (i.e. this is my thrid time) just two days ago. While it is shorter than most FF games, it's an awesome game. People are just idiots. FFXIII doesn't have the most interesting main characters overall, but they are memorable. Lightning is the most interesting protagonist in the FF series (way better than that pouncy Cloud - not that there's anything wrong with being a little Milhouse-esque). Rikku, Tidus, Balthier and Lightning are probably the most memorable Final Fantasy characters.

BTW, I reckon Sephiroth is overrated. Just because he is the only antagonist to actually kill a main character, doesn't mean he's any better than any other antagonists in the series.

I'll admit though, Square has promised a lot, and hasn't delivered much of the things people have been waiting patiently for (FFVsXIII and FFX HD). The quality of their games is nonetheless excellent.

Like I said, people are idiots (hence the link's complaintative writing).

P.S. They should have made FFXIII much bigger/longer, considering how long it takes to get round to all the tutorials and making Fang playable.

FFXII is good other then that meh. Also VI is the best and the first Tactics is the best of the spin offs.

I'd have no problem with it being bigger/longer but not for the tutorials.

Gaming has fallen so very far when someone goes to this length to defend a linear game that consists of pressing one button for hours on end,  while watching a completely nonsensical series of cutscenes.  Even the leveling system was ridiculously obtuse for no real reason.

It's hands down the worst design in the 360/PS3 era,  and likely would've struggled to sell 100,000 units if the words "Final Fantasy" weren't on the box.  I literally can't think of a single redeeming feature of that game.

I bet you think Mass Effect 2 had good writing or that Dragon Age 2 had good use of politics.

I would say FFVII or FFXII or my favorites so whatever.

Defending the most linear FF game ever such a fanboy. 30 hours of nothing but pressing one button and watching cutscenes for the game to finally open up. The characters are forgettable and Lighting is interesting but doesn't change how badly designed the game is. I don't know why you keep mentioning Cloud or anything FFVII for that matter. You must think since I'm not blind enough to LOVE 13 that I must love VII right?

I would argue he is better than others like Kefka. While I like Kefka he is so blatantly evil that it bores me. Sephiroth has his own ambitions and like I said why do you keep mentioning FFVII?

Especially XIII fans.

Instead of making it longer they should have made it better and not so linear.

I have never played the Mass Effect series, so I can't say if ME2 had good writing. I really not sure about the politics in DA2, all I know is that Kirkwall has messed up leaders who can't cooperate or are too busy waiting for something to happen (in both cases, foolish beliefs are prominent causes). Also, the one person who should be in charge after the Viscount died, doesn't try hard enough, and isn't given a chance anyway, to settle the disputes.

Bold.

I agree. Chapter 11 is the only non-linear chapter, and once you get there, there's a whole heap of things you could do, it makes you not want to keep playing. It's kind of demoralising. I liked how they split up the characters into groups, instead of all of the being together for the majority of the game. I think it wouldn't really allow for free form gameplay, unless there was only so much you could do before the main story progresses.

As for this. It seems that the majority of people who go on about how bad FFXIII is, are people who loved the earlier games, but are "butthurt," as people say, about how Square went a different direction. And the majority of them love FFVII.

It's not unlike people who complain about DA2 not being "DA:O2".

If you go on YouTube, a lot of people say that FFVII is the best game, Sephiroth the best antagonist, and Cloud the best protagonist. It's hard not to get angry at so many people, who are too foolish to realise that their loving that game, or having negative opinions about more recent games, is the same as non-gamers (for the most part) who love Justin Bieber or Lady Gaga, for example. Popularity does not equal quality, and neither does preference.

I really find it annoying how people don't like things that are different to what they are used to. It's hard not to think of them as racist or xenophobic.

What? One is now a racist for not liking a specific game and liking another?

Wow, just wow.

For the people complaining about FFXIII being linear...Um, all of the FF games are linear. A couple have a choice or two in that you can choose not to recruit some optional characters, but the storylines have pretty much no variability. FFVI probably had the most "choice" out of any of the games in the series.

Doesn't excuse the lazy level design. No exploration at all with cutscenes popping up every 20 steps.

Uh..no. Let them keep their hands tied with other things. I don't want Square Enix handling anything Deus Ex beyond publishing it.

Haha what the flying ****?

At any rate, FFVI was the best Final Fantasy game. I actually really tried to like FFXIII, I really did. I got it upon release but got bored of it just before reaching Gran Pulse I believe, I don't actually know. Tried it again last fall and made it even less further. It just has really boring gameplay and a boring story.
