FFXIII completely killed any hope I had in the Final Fantasy series. It's dead and gone.

I hope the Agni's Philosophy Tech Demo turns out to be FFXV or Versus for the PS4/Next Generation systems.

Also despite it being MMO territory I want FFXIV: A Realm Reborn to turn out a success.

I don't think they could possibly ever recover from the joke that was FFXIV.

That's why I mentioned the upcoming remake/rerelease, not the original.

Honestly I feel that all arguments as to which Final Fantasy is better is rather subjective, really. Its based more on opinions than facts. For example:
In my OPINION, FF X is the best in the series, then XIII/XIII-2, then X-2 (yes, I liked it. It was entertaining), then XII, then IX, then VII, then VI, then IV.
These are all the ones I've gotten to play, and I've enjoyed them all. For different reasons, of course, but because each one is so different from the last, these arguments are all pointless. They might as well all NOT be named Final Fantasy, and you'd never know they were connected. (Minus chocobos, moogles cactaurs, Ect.) Hopefully you get what I mean by not connected; I realize they're all different story arcs anyway, for the most part.

Outside of a possible Dissidia sequel I'm retired from the FF franchise as well.

I think we're forgetting what games are.

They're for entertainment. If you are not entertained when someone else is, no need to go on a judgement spree.

Umm SquareEnix is a publisher as well as a developer. They do other things like expand the popularity of Dragon Quest. They also published Just Cause 2, DE:HR, Arkham Asylum, Modern Warfare 2, Black Ops, Dead Island, Modern Warfare 3, Risen 2, Sleeping Dogs, Black Ops 2.

They also published Persona 4.

Admittedly they published Kayne and Lynch 2 and Mind Jack.

The reason Square has appeared to skip or "waste" this generation is the amount of non FF JRPGs they've made to try and mix up the formula and give FF a genuine competitor in terms of a series outside of Japan. Games like Project Sylpheed, Infinite Undiscovery, The Last Remnant and Nier all picked up staff from the main Square office and took valuable producers away from the main titles in the FF series. Combined with a greater focus on DragonQuest (believe me translations are painful) and some early pushes with Star Ocean (again translations take a huge amount of time) the FF series has suffered from a splitting of focus.

Yeah I was just thinking about that the other day, with the new system on the horizon... & the last real KH game was on the PS2. I remember believing KH3 would be the game I bought the PS3 for, now I just bought my PS3 & probably wont get the new one a half decade atleast.

Square has had some good games out. But I think they put KH3 off for far too long, & I haven't played a Final Fantasy game since ten that gave me that incredible epic feeling of pure awesome that the rest did. Liked twelve & thirteen enough. I didn't finish thirteen, I couldn't tell any of the characters apart really. So I was never really able to get some kindof emotional attachment to them. And I was creeped out by Lightning, when I see her I just see Cloud in drag... & that is something he has done before afterall.

Well the KH producer said he wanted to end the xenohort saga on this Gen. They have announced a KH MMO, which will likely flop.

Honestly, I'm getting my fix of JRPG from Namco-Badai's 'Tales of' series. If you like JRPGs you should check out Tales of Graces.

I'll look into them. Just got Ni No Kuni, & also recently tried Vagrant Story & Digital Devil Saga 1&2. There are quite a few jprg's out that escaped me growing up, but now look much more affordable.

I don't understand why they'd go for a Kingdom Hearts mmo. Maybe they're planning on making it some social media type, otherwise isn't there already a new FF mmo they're planning to release. Seems strange that they'd pit two against eachother, but I'm not so familiar with mmo's.

I loved Dissidia 012 on my PSP and a sequel or whatever on console would be great. Don't see them actually start working on one for a very long time though. Another problem is Dissidia wrapped things up pretty well with it's ending so save for going even further back in time which will cause problems with some 012 characters making s return, where can they go from here?

Unless they make a Dissidia where they pretty much say damn the story and make it completely focused on the gameplay.

So am I. While I still enjoy the classics (up to X, while VI still being my favorite of all of them), I gradually lost interest in the series and hardly even notice or care when a new Final Fantasy comes out - main title or spin-off. It has lost many of the core values I loved it for all those years. It's not that I'm bitter or disappointed in Final Fantasy or anything; but I've largely moved on now.

Still wait for the best Final Fantasy game they made to be released over stateside. Square doesn't like money or they'd have announced they were working on US/EU Bravely Default.

where did you see me bashing FFXIIII fans?

personally i rather you just leave, because I didn't make this thread for arguments but for those who understand FACTS that SE isn't as good as squareSOFT and classic FF games and other squareSOFT games have been proven better whether it's my opinion or not isn't the case it's just a matter of reseach
