If you need to create a duplicate character for all this fixing of stuff and you still have one of the characters with that name:
You can go to where the game stores the save files on your hard drive and make a copy of the folder of the duplicate character and rename the new folder and all files inside to match the name.
For example i still had Neria1 and needed to remove Neria from my online profile. I made a copy of the folder and removed from the folder name and the files inside the "1". And next time my player profile updated, the broken character was updated with the files of my still existing one.
I think this too needs to have the same race-origin though, just as if you had created a new character with that name.


There is an XML file inside the save game folder that has the name of the character in it.  If you are going this route be sure to open that file and change the name inside it too.  ;)

I was getting a "online storage full" message and went to the profile diagnostics page. That's where I discovered my main character had 67 pending files and a 1005 error. I followed the instructions on another thread to delete my main character from my online profile. That cleared the online storage issue. I then re-loaded my main character (who had already finished the game), fiddled with my inventory, then did a manual save and waited for a few minutes. I then went back to the diagnostics page of my profile and I see my main character listed with 27 pending files and a 1005 error. I still don't see the character on the character screen, however, so I can't delete her again. And my second character is showing on the profile diagnostics page but is also not showing on the character page.



So how do I delete the extra files from my main (first) character again, since the character doesn't appear in on the character screen? And why isn't my second character loading, either?

Worked fine without doing that. But probably because the characters, to be turned into <name>, <name1> etc, already have the same name in the XML file.

If there are Character XML files for the characters in question, they should show up again eventually. This won't happen right after you've deleted and updated the character; give it an hour or so (or even a day), then come back and check your profile again. When it shows up, you can try deleting it again.

If those 27 files don't include a Character XML, then you'll probably have to try saving the character again until you manage to create one of those.

As I mentioned in an earlier post in this thread, the game seems more likely to save extra "unexpected" files when you delete and then re-upload a character that's well advanced in levels. It seems the only way to deal with that, if you want to pare it down to just the standard four files, is to keep deleting and re-uploading until you hit it lucky. It could be the game is uploading data from multiple saved games, so you might want to try deleting all your saved games except for the latest one (especially if you've finished the game and won't want to replay it from those earlier save points) and see if that helps.

Well doofus here did it again. I ended up with 2 characters with the same name. I turned off update character profile, created a character, started the game, and wasn't happy with the way they looked. So I deleted them and created a new character with the same name. Started the game and was happy with the appearance, so then I turned update character profile back on and made a save. Unfortunately, I still ended up with Faelwen and Faelwen1.



There was only one character with that name ingame - but when I checked my documents folder there they both were. I think an autosave might have been the problem. The character whose appearance I was happy with was the second one - Faelwen1. So, on the spur of the moment, I did the following:



* I deleted the files inside the Faelwen folder, but not the folder itself.

* I dragged and dropped the files from the Faelwen1 folder into the Faelwen folder.

* I changed the file names by deleting the '1' in each of them.

* Then I deleted the Faelwen1 folder.

* Finally, I loaded up the character and made a new save in a new slot.



When I checked my character diagnostics page, Faelwen1 had disappeared entirely.

Alright thanks, just that i've cleared the game but my character havent been updated for a week :P

The game won't update unless you do a manual save of the character you want updated. So if you haven't been playing the character after you finished the game, it won't get updated.

The game should have saved automatically after you finished the main quest line. Load that, or whatever your latest saved game is. Then equip whatever armor you want your character to be wearing on the profile page and save the game manually. And don't quit immediately after saving! Let the game idle for a few minutes after saving, to give it time to talk to the server. Then you can quit. This should give you a final version of your character on your profile page.

... If the character in question is Heydan, then it looks like you've already gotten this far! ;)

I became a Grey Warden, and in morning I suddenly had those 68 files. It has that error 1005, and it's not showing on the charcters list. I tried that what read on this page, but 3 hours and it's not showing up. And always when I start the game (Xbox 360) happens this www.eciuj.webs.com/photos/dao.jpg . So my other 4 charcters are not updating beacouse of that one. I tried to remove registeration but it didn't help at all. And one odd thing, Rock. I didn't even save the game. I just finished the dwarf commoner story, but it came to the website. And it's not either showing on the charcters screen. Same thing,; 3 hours and not updating. I really need some help, Awakening is coming and stuff :(

At the moment your biggest problem is the fact that you've hit the file limit. You may not be able to do anything until you've freed up some space. The easiest way to do that would be to delete Jüiçè, but that won't be possible if the character doesn't show up on the Manage Characters page. You could try waiting a while longer: sometimes it takes a bit more than three hours for the site to update.

So wait a day or two, and if Jüiçè still hasn't shown up you can send a PM to Jeff Rousell or Jesse van Herk and ask for help deleting that character. You can find posts by these gentlemen in the Profile Diagnostics thread among others.

Getting 68 files uploaded for a character in Ostagar is not unheard of. I once had a very similar thing happen with my character Brendan (it was 64 files, I think, but they showed up immediately upon my arrival in Ostagar). I waited until he showed up, then deleted him. I had to delete him three or four times, but I finally got rid of him, then re-saved and ended up with the standard four files.

Rock won't show up (and so won't be delete-able) until you get a Character XML uploaded for him. If you've already deleted Rock from the game, you'll have to create another Rock with the same background, save him manually (making sure a Character XML gets uploaded), then delete from the site. Of course, this will probably have to wait until you get the Jüiçè files deleted.

I also find myself wondering whether the failure of Jüiçè to appear on the website might not have something to do with the diacritics in the name. I could be wrong about that, but you might want to avoid making names like that in the future, just to be on the safe side.

I apologize, but I still don't get it.

First of all, I'm playing on the PC with the latest patch. My problem lies with the fact that I have played with around three characters that have the same race, name and origin, with the 3rd being the latest and the one I'm sticking with. I've also imported this character in the expansion.

I've previously deleted the first two within the game and through the website afterwards, which probably makes this method useless in my situation... The 3rd character has not even been successfully updated, nor uploaded, even once. In the Profile Diagnostics, I see the character, and it says that it has 64 files under his name (possibly from the previous two..?) and an 1005 error code. However, I cannot see this character at all in the Manage Characters page.

To complicate things further, I'm also getting the 'invisible' screenshots problem. The screenshots I've tried to upload simply do not appear, even though I watched the upload progress bar to the finish.

Fortunately, my achievements do get updated at least.

It's ridiculous how messed up this process is, which is a shame because it seemed like a good feature from the beginning.

How many files do you have stored on the site? It sounds like you may have reached the limit, which may prevent things from showing up. If that's the case, you might want to ask one of the moderators for help deleting that character from the site altogether, as I mentioned in the post above yours. Once you've gotten rid of the deadwood, it should be easier to get the character uploaded.

Also, since we're talking about a character you want to keep on the site, you should check out the second Wall O' Text thread linked in my signature. The procedure for deleting files for a character you want to keep is similar to the one described in this thread, but there are some important differences.

Actually, my character appeared a day later after attempting to update my profile, even the screeshots I tried to upload as a test..! But he's not fully updated. In other words, a few skills and talents are missing. He's an Awakenings character by the way, so I'm wondering if the profile already supports the new skills and talents or not. The new pieces of equipement are properly displayed though.

The 1005 error code is still attached to this character; however, so I take it that I should follow the steps in the second Wall 'O Text thread?

Yes, you can use the steps in that thread to delete and re-upload the character. Hopefully you'll end up with only 4 files instead of 64. It does take time for things to show up properly on the site, though, so don't be surprised if they don't appear immediately (even if the diagnostics page says the files are there).

As for the Awakenings stuff, I haven't got it yet, so I can't say whether the site supports them. I'd guess it does, since the Spells & Talents tab for each of my two characters includes an extra row of slots for both class and weapon talents. But I suppose that only means they've made room for the new stuff; whether it's working or not is another matter entirely.

I am having trouble clearing out the screenshots on my profile. I used the tactics above and have been able to eliminate my duplicate characters as well as a few old test characters that I created to go through the different Origins. I noticed that my screenshots were contributing to my 100 file limit, so I deleted all the screenshots on my profile and then toggled the option in game to stop uploading them. Unfortunately, even though my "Manage Screenshots" button shows nothing, when I go to "Profile Diagnostics" I still see 79 screenshots and total files of 86. There are three characters included, with 4, 2, and 1 file, so I know this 86 is including screenshots. I deleted them 48 hours ago. I was hoping it was a refresh error, but it seems to be taking a very long time, especially since the characters themselves have been updating in the interim.

Anyone know if they fixed something with the forums .. or I've been blessed with luck?

I screwed up my pc today so my husband put in Windows 7. Reloaded DA:O and I can actually UPLOAD CHARACTER PICS! I haven't been able to do that since the 1.02 patch! That and my persona page works!

Could my drive being formatted fixed something?

Hi, I have followed all the steps on this an another posts but it seems impossible to delete some character form the online server.



All the characters I want to delete have the character file (they have all the four files...) but they do not appears on the Character manager.



I have played and save, and aslo deleted the character from my xbox and create a new one with the same name. My profile seems to update but it still does not show the character on the manager to delete them.



It's seems to be a ramdom problem because I was able to delete a character that I deleted from the xbox and my profile some months ago but had still some files. Creating a new character with this name the files did update and appeared on character managers so I could delete it.



Also I've been able to upload more new characters with all the files.



The characters I want to delete are one from Origins and another one with several characters (0, 1, 2, 3...) from Origins, Awakening and Gólems.



Well, I really would like to have these character on my profile to show it but because I can not right now I think that I have to delete all and then upload as a new one...



Please, someone could help me? Thanks.
