Please don't do this!!!

I would much rather rubber band around and die... I am used to it, and it doesn't me affect too badly anymore unless it doesn't stop, in which case I gladly quit the match.

On 30 fps host, no rubber-banding. Also, your gun seems to hit things when it is aimed at air, hits nothing when aimed at head. Banshee sync-kills are increased seemingly, as sound and video don't quite match up right.

I just treated a host really bad after being in such a match. Sure, it is neat being able to run away in a straight line from Ravager fire and take only 1 of three hits...... It also teaches you to die when playing at a real difficulty. I had 140k by wave 9 with a triple shot raider...... and I just kept pulling the trigger in a general direction as their was no real point in aiming (yes I was hip firing the raider, there is still a little aiming involved in a hip fire.)

Having played that match..... I wonder what other things the devs did to "balance" the games for consoles. If the main difference between Console play and PC play is truly the FPS cap.... If so.............

EDIT: For the record, I was wrong in being angry with the host. Regardless of his tampering or lack thereof, I should not have been a dick.

Are you sure he just didn't have a lower-end PC?

I mean I'm pretty sure there's literally nobody who purposely does that.

I guess you don't read the forums much? Caratinoid's thread basically has encouraged people to start locking their FPS. This was not his intent, but it is the result. People are feeling like the game is too hard sometimes, and there are several threads devoted to this topic, and it is being done right now by our forumites.

Please stahp.

The game is fundamentally broken. Experience varies DRASTICALLY depending on FPS. On modern game that's released in 2012 it's unacceptable. It should handle 60 FPS with no issues.

Yet it's made for 30 and with 60, you're fighting a 2x tougher enemies. All balance changes, all buffs and nerfs are meaningless, when the core is broken.

And Bioware refuses to comment.

After playing that match, and thinking about the possibility of it becoming more widespread, I have to sadly agree with you. This is just stupid.

Of course I do. I just wasn't aware there were actually people desperate enough to do something like that.

Right.

I ran down the long hallway on Giant that is in-between the stairs to the Control room and the ramp down to the lower area, opposite the LZ. There was a Ravager in a straight line to me at the back wall and because of traffic I had no choice but to run down that alley, directly in the line of Ravager fire.

Ravager shot three times, hit me once, I was not zig-zagging because I had sorta figured out that the host was laming on 30fps and wanted to test it. I RAN STRAIGHT DOWN THE HALLWAY AND TOOK ONE SHOT. Also, there were Marauders and Cannibals firing at me simultaneously.

So, all of that only happened in my mind? Sure.

How do you know the host capped his FPS ?

Besides, if you had a three shot raider, that had nothing to do with his framerate. Just lag.

Yeah, I mean one of the main reasons I came to PC was because 30 FPS is so bad. Even if it makes it "easier" it's not worth making your game look like poo and it gimps offensive capabilities.

When things like that happen I attribute them to lag.

Ask yourself this question: If you had never read Caratinoid's thread and you encountered things like this, would you start going OMGHE'SFPSLOCKING or would you just go WTF LAG?

And honestly, which scenario is more likely: Your host had a lower-end machine/wireless internet/any combination of poor computing and networking, or your host read Caratinoid's thread and was all like LOL I'M GOING TO LOCK MY FPS AND STRAIN MY EYES JUST SO I DON'T GET SHOT AS MUCH. I really don't think anybody's that desperate.

Not many people read BSN. Maybe 1% of the playerbase.

Dude most of playerbase isn't on BSN and has no idea about Caratinoid's thread and wouldn't even know HOW to cap their FPS.

Relax.

The enemies will miss a lot more often. And they will react slower. When I watch a lot of solos and speedruns I think: "This would NEVER happen in my game, I would be dead just by poping out of softcover for half a second"

I was rubberbanding on 360 yesterday, terribly.

I could hardly believe it, the connection issues have gotten worse lately, due to less players in the game.

Who would want to play on 30 FPS? That's just masochistic ...

So glad that people not in that game think I don't know what lag looks like.

@SavagelyEpic and HolyAvenger: agreed that many don't read BSN. Disagreed that I wouldn't recognized the difference between a laggy match and a capped one. This match was both. It was laggy to the extreme yet had no rubber-banding - this is the definition of Caratinoid's fix. Triple shot Raider is a lag event. In those matches, you generally bounce around at least a couple times, and generally you have three to four "WTF how did I just did WTF is shooting me????" moments. In this match it was EZ mode all the way, except for a damned sync-kill on Wave 10 Important Targets after the second target was down that extended the match so long it I felt my beard grow.

Agreed, 3 shot raider = lag.

Running in a straight line away from a Ravager and mooks all over the place on wave 7 and taking one shot from the Ravager volley and nothing from the mooks = capped framerate or ???

I go with capped frames, Occam's razor tells me so.

Okay, so in that case I'm just going to repeat myself again:

Poor computing generally accompanies poor network performance anyways. To me it just sounds like your host has a rather low gaming budget. There's literally nothing that outright suggests he's intentionally doing that to himself. Did he tell you that he was doing it on purpose? You probably mistreated him for something he couldn't control. Way to be a nice person.

If you play with >30 FPS enemies become a lot more accurate and react 2x faster.
If you play with <30 FPS the enemies are slower than a turtle going trough iconic state of bullet time and can't hit ****.

People with a PC that can't handle 60 FPS should in worst case scenario be prohibited to host, and in ideal circumstances shot in the head with a Claymore. A disgrace to the Master Race they are.

On the opposite end - people who play 120 FPS make this game a nightmare for everyone else.
