Why is it that this game is the only game where PC players whine obsessively over the FPS cap making so much difference?

The game is fundamentally broken. Experience varies DRASTICALLY depending on FPS. On modern game that's released in 2012 it's unacceptable. It should handle 60 FPS with no issues.

Yet it's made for 30 and with 60, you're fighting a 2x tougher enemies. All balance changes, all buffs and nerfs are meaningless, when the core is broken.

And Bioware refuses to comment.

Well this explains why I get ripped to shredds during that one fracking second my arm sticks out around cover to throw a sticky grenade. I lock my fps at 60 for vsync. LOL.

Are you sure he just didn't have a lower-end PC?

I mean I'm pretty sure there's literally nobody who purposely does that.

I guess you don't read the forums much? Caratinoid's thread basically has encouraged people to start locking their FPS. This was not his intent, but it is the result. People are feeling like the game is too hard sometimes, and there are several threads devoted to this topic, and it is being done right now by our forumites.

Please stahp.

Thing is you havent proven anything, as much as had a tantrum over a possibility, maybe you should shutup? i mean in all evetuality, it is most likely a low end PC.

Seeing as how I last posted in this thread over a week ago at least, I thought I had shut up. [EDIT: 21 days ago.....]

Try following your own advice next time, or just try comprehending dates. This subject is tricky, and I wasn't trying to prove anything, rather stating an opinion that I still hold. If your PC cannot go faster, that is fine: one of my best friend's connection when he hosts, he gets between 38-60 frames depending, usually an average of 45. I was embarrassed to discover this after posting this thread, but I am an honest guy and don't mind looking foolish occasionally - it happens.

Regardless, if your PC can handle faster frames and you are limiting it artificially as host, I think you are wrong to do so and wish you would not.

I play PC games more often than console, especially lately, and every time I go to the console, I missed how easy it was to just use the mouse to point and shoot.

I played the me3mp on a friends intel hd2000 laptop to test out an issue that he had with the amd 5670 card and lack of HP driver support. And it could not even get 20fps. So I imagine some people might be trying to play it with hardware that is just too low. I really wish they would not host, but what can you do.
Personally, Vsync locks it at 60, the game limits it to 62. So I just leave vsync on. The game seems fine for me, and I think I have a decent Internet connection. I monitor latency and after ditching the crappy 2wire switch i am now able to sustain a 100ms latency connection with the masseffect servers. But it seems to others sometimes that my games move extremely fast and people die a lot. I'm not sure what's happening, perhaps it's my PC (amd955be with hd6870) or perhaps it's just a connection issue between us.

I'm a PC + console person myself, but I'm afraid that the advantages of mouse usage are more than offset by the 2X difficulty increase from 30fps to 60fps.

Enemies aim 2x better, fire at you with 2x lesser delay, move to flank you 2x faster, and shields regenerate significantly slower.

That's just on host. OFFhost, lag pretty wipes out the miniscule reaction time left available. PC players
can easily be left dead without any visual representation of how they died, even from full health/shields.
